I have a house here, a job, pension, pay my taxes etc. and so am fully committed to life in the UK. But now I am for the first time questioning my future here. I didn't vote for Brexit, not because I think the EU is some perfect institution (it clearly is not) but because it a rather large single market and it does not make fiscal sense to leave such a market. Hi James… seeing you on a vlog shows how passionate you are about the UK and the working classes that have no voice and have been undermined for as long as I can remember.
I am 65yrs left school at 14yrs earning net £9 a week: paid my mother £3, £2:50 covered fares and a sandwich so £4.50 was mine. In those days £1 would buy you 3 pints and a pack of 20 cigarettes. Publicans decided if you were old enough to work you was old enough to drink…the coppers turned a blind eye.
Move on fifty-one years and all of “our group” have no money worries our grandchildren all privately educated and quite simply for me the only boring day of the year is Christmas Day. During Covid I had no PAYE or self employed income for a year…only problem her indoors suddenly had a list of jobs. Every filled an eight yard skip by yourself. This Country has given me everything adopted into a great family at seven working at fourteen and found my soulmate at eighteen…44yrs next February. No favours, never asked for a pay rise always in work. The same for all my mates: the only difference some chose the Bentley I put my stock into the family: two daughters and four grandchildren.
I despair at Britain today on the one side we are the best in the world (Formula One) when we want to be: on the flip side an education system not fit for purpose, no structure for the young to climb (through hard work) the social ladder. There is no stewardship in the home, the classroom and with the disaster which is Truss at the highest level. There is a lot of brilliant women very angry with her. Britain will pay the price for undermining the working classes and and abject under investment for decades. Attlee, Churchill, Thatcher and Major are the standout Prime Ministers... Boris could off joined them but he decided to have a few beers after getting us through Brexit and Covid. Destroy the economy, pension funds a run on the pound: that's ok.
Britain needs Chartered Engineer’s in every discipline, mathematicians, scientists etc…state schools don’t even require students to write things down anymore. Pen and paper is slightly cheaper than a computer. Compare the education system in Scotland to England and the Ireland “Leaving certificate” against the A level. Ireland require every student to learn Irish, play a musical instrument and will excel in six other subjects. The stewardship is brutal…however the outcome is that there are more Irish millionaires than any other Country and for some reason every US President has Irish ancestry.
Your vlog is a regular part of my day at least someone mainstream talks sense and actually cares: thanks James.

The country in Europe with the highest inward investment is France who's corporation tax is one of the highest in Europe at 27.5%. James O'Brien Destorying Brexiteers should be an official sport. If you watch any of O'Brien's Complications, Not a single Brexiteers had a real argument.

People liked the idea of a the EU as a white club. It wasn't that anymore and the EU was used as a force to invite the world in and spread them around the EU member countries. The British thought this too unbearable to stay within an otherwise lucrative union as a trading block. But controlling ones borders is more important, for the sake of future generations, than cheap tradable goods.

@@glennbateman4483 I told you why the people voted out of the EU. it is not the people's fault if the government doesn't implement their will. Mainly because quietly our government believes in abolishing British people too and making Britain and Europe a totally multiracial federation with no unifying identity.
