I’m not usually a fan of the rumba, but this was something else…the connection between John and Johannes, the choreography and music all formed the most beautiful and breathtaking dance. Loved it.

This is how this dance should be danced! Usually in mixed pairings it is all staccato posing and overly sexy - this was fluid and intimate and romantic and beautiful.
I think rumba is supposed to be romantic amd sexy so both is good
I watched this tonight BAWLING my eyes out. As someone with autism, I know how terrifying it is to show the world your true self, but these two are doing just that. From one rainbow/spectrum to another, I am so proud of you both. Well done my darlings. 👏❤️

I'm glad they went for steamy and lustful as well. I feel with the same gender pairings it's like "we'll have you as long as you're not too much" but this was explicitly homoerotic and was perfect.

Cant believe this wasn't all 10s either. Quite gorgeous.
It was one of the most touching and profound moments ever on strictly history and probably on British national TV! It was a statement of celebration of love so delicate, so sincere but yet so far from cheesy or pathetic. The song (which I consider to be one of the most beautiful songs ever), the choreography (which was so proper) and Jhon's execution (which wasn't perfect but so into the music and with so much determination and dedication) - all together gave me goosebumps! This routine has touched my heart from the very first second until the very last. The atmosphere was sublime atmosphere, Jojn’s musicality was gorgeous musicality, some of his hip action was fantastic (but there were steps, the basic rumba step to be more exact, that were completely lacking hip action), very good movement of the arms, incredible amount of proper competitive content, terrific transitions between slow and fast movement… Artistically, however, there is no question - it was perfection!!! I hope to see this dance again in the final!!! My score: a shivering out of excitement 8!
Johannes says he loves the rumba, and it must be wonderful for him to actually be led, since he is such a graceful and fluid dancer. He gets to dance in a different way.
It was simply one of the best Rumba's I've ever seen. It was gentle, fluid, beautiful hip rotation, gorgeous lines, lovely cucarachas and some lovely basic competition Rumba in there. Rumba walks were extremely heartfelt and it felt very feminine but masculine at the same time. The music was gorgeous, the choreography was gorgeous, the romance was gorgeous, the mood was gorgeous it felt like it was just them dancing and the world stopped! They pulled it off, that was beautiful and the hand hold and cuddle at the end this really moved me it just shows how much the lgbt community matter and how much love is love, for me this was as natural as watching a Male female Rumba anyway. I knew he would nail this *10/10*

I feel like there’s a certain point when artistry and beauty make technique irrelevant. This is one of those times, a well deserved 10 from the rumba queen!!

Yes it was absolutely beautiful - the mood, the lighting, their moves were sensual and romantic. Just stunning.
Felt exactly the same. John could probably have had slightly more ‘intention’ in his movements, (if they perform it at the final he might develop that) but it was so lovely that it didn’t matter.
It seemed like everyone was literally frozen watching this. No shouts of encouragement, everyone was just glued to their gorgeous, intimate dance. And considering how damn hard it is to do a good rumba, they stripped it back & kept it simple & it was mesmerising. ❤

So many emotions. As soon as the singer started, the tears just came rolling. I just love same gender paring because there ARE NO RULES about leaders and followers and they can just make it the best dance they want it to be and play to both their strengths. John is such a good dancer. And of course Johannes is something else.

I couldn't agree more. So many Rumba's on the show are of the forced and gratuitious nature and they leave me cold. I prefer a quieter and more intimate choreography and this dance had it all.

I am so impressed with what John & Johannes have achieved with this dance. It will definitely go down in history. The intimacy and sensuality was just beautiful, I hope that if they get to the final, they’ll dance it again and maybe get the first 40 there has ever been for a rumba 🤞🌟

The reason I fell in love with ballroom and latin (and dance in general) in the first place all those years ago was the connection it creates between two people and the emotions they can express together…and this dance was the epitome of that.
No gimmicks, just dancing, connection and pure emotion.
Johannes is exquisite, John is so talented - they are such a brilliant partnership.
I felt like a peeping tom staring at such an intimate moment between two people expressing their love for each other. It was so beautiful to watch, albeit with tears streaming down my face. I love watching these two dance - there is such a wonderful connection between them.

I have no idea about dancing or professional evaluation. I have only eyes and a heart. My eyes are excited by what they see and my heart just beats for Johannes and John. It is just a pleasure to see them dance every week. 🤩🤩🤩

Sensuous, elegant and stunning rumba and Johannes’ choreography was absolutely beautiful. I couldn't take my eyes off Johannes and he is so graceful. The Rumba Queen gave them10 points and was surprised they didn't get more full marks!
I am so glad they finally got to do an explocitly sexy/sultry/sensual dance. I couldnt help but feel they were being shied away from it under the guise of "we can show a gay pairing, but like, we will keep it tomed down because oF tHe ChIldReN" or some bullshit, but im so SO happy they didnt! This made me cry so much, because seeing two men dancing a rumba together (a dance known for being sulry and sexy and romantic and passionate yet gentle) is so much bigger than them dancing side by side in a charlston. This is actively portraying a mlm relationship through dance, as most other rumbas show sraight relationships through the dance.
All in all, this dance has made history for me. As a lesbian, i cant even express how validated and emotional I felt watching this performance. Well done boys!

Couldn't have said it better myself. It's so true that the different-gender pairings are allowed this romantic feeling in a dance by default...because you know...heteronormativity. And gay sensuality/sexuality is erased SO much. I'm so glad we got to see it here.

I know what you mean by bravery. The show could have put boundaries in as well as johannes could of been scared after what happened prior. They perform like no one is watching and they are proud to do this together no matter the complaints .

I don't know what kind of competition there is in this season, but this man should definitely win.
This was beautiful. An honest basic Rumba, with no flashy bells and whistles, danced with feeling and commitment. Great connection between them, they created a moment in which I was happy to lose myself and just enjoy the dance. Nice footwork, lovely relaxed shoulders, and good body tone, it's obvious that they do a lot of mirror work to 'finish' the performance, as their arm lines are identical and this gives a bit of polish to the performance. This was gorgeous and I hope that I get to see them dance this again in the final.
It was so classy wasn't it! I loved it, and to one of my favourite tracks as well 😊 I bought that album when it came out in '93. I'm so glad these two did an elegant, classical rumba ❤️

No gimmicks, no sudden switches in roles. It was John being the 'lead' presenting his partner, and why I think this dance worked better than any of his other dances.
I was worried about how they might pull the Rumba off, I needn't have as it was truly beautiful, classy, sensitive & simple...Just a beautiful Rumba. Well done John & Johannes.

Sometimes soulmates or twin flames are of the same gender. This was so natural and obvious in this dance where these two men move as one.

As a critique the leg could be straighter when John moves his hip and John can try and add more musicality in his arms to try and match Johannes. Regardless this without a doubt is the best rumba this series so far!
