    • @pretty948

Ikr honestly the whole world has let women down. Women don't have support from their own parents or even the legal system which are both supposed to stand by you and protect you from evil and provide justice. I'm not surprised that women don't report, everyone knows at this point that our judicial system sucks and the judges are also biased. There's literally no point of some laws that are progressive even.

If a young couple kiss at a public place, a mob will be formed, their parents will be called and their morality will be questioned.
If a man beats his wife in that same place, people will assume that the wife did something wrong and she deserves it.
If a woman beats her husband in that same place, husband's manhood will be questioned and he will be insulted even after he dies.
Moral:- Introduce tight slap as a form of PDA in your relationship and you will never be disturbed in public places.

Unmarried or married couple kissing outside in public comes under the obscenity act and though this act is not well defined it is still punishable in the court of law .
If a man beats his wife or gets beaten by his wife , or even two men or women fight in public , these are both forms of assault, you as an educated person should ask them to stop and if they don’t you are privileged to report it to the authorities.

If a couple hold hands in public some culture protectors will come out of nowhere to teach them morality. But if a woman is getting harrased or beaten up by a man society will turn the other way. Why will society target a harmless man showing affection but stay away from a man being violent?
I too used be against PDAs but seeing the hypocrisy of the society, I decided that I don't want to be a part of them. If people can look away when someone is fighting, murdering or pissing in public they can look away when a couple is holding hands or hugging too

According to me, the most important rule for a beautiful relationship is respect, listening and freedom.
Respect - When you give respect to others, others will do the same.
Listening - Listen well to what others are saying and understand them with no biasing because when we listen we understand more and this applies to everything in this beautiful world.
Freedom - Give the other person some space and don't act like an intruder, let them do what they want and if they are doing something wrong then communicate with them.
According to me these things will bring more peace and happiness in life.

Abuse in any form should be a red flag in a relationship. It's ironic how people tell women that they should put up with abuse for the sake of "izzat". Sadly domestic violence continues to be a harsh reality of our country, and it is extremely common and underreported at the same time.
And then we have some people who call treating women with respect as being a simp. Its called being normal, it is nothing to be ashamed of, and it is nothing to be proud of. No person respectful towards the other commits an act of violence. I've seen my parents married for 20 years, never seen huge fights or violence. Yes, they do have disagreements but that doesn't mean they have to start a cutthroat argument or violence for it. A few of my uncles however do inflict violence on their wives. One even considers his wife to be a subordinate. I think a lot of this comes down to how a person is. Dismissing an act of domestic violence by any person as a family matter is stupid since the fact that the person has inflicted violence on any other person means that he /she will do it again to someone else. It's a psychological issue that needs to be resolved. I have always seen my parents laugh more than fight, and I'm glad it is this way.

Okay for all those who are bringing up that it’s not just women who face domestic violence, you are absolutely correct! But,
_Why is it that, the only time that you bring up violence against men, is when violence again women is being discussed in the first place?_
Everything has a time and space. I’m not saying that domestic violence against men shouldn’t be discussed. But the only time you discuss it, shouldn’t be to interrupt women who are sharing their experiences, which they clearly have faced from longer time and to a greater extent.

It's not just a slap or a Gaali.. But it's the thinking behind that abuse with which men think they have some kind of birthright to discipline or control women.
Change won't come unless women bring the change themselves. Don't fear "log kya bolenge" and "ghar ki izzat". Stand up for yourself and do WHATEVER it takes to be free from a violent household. Because if you're abused in the house which you think as your home, it's not really your "home".
EDIT: this applies to men too, who are a victim of domestic violence.

This is so common. In my family my whenever my father is in a bad mood, he comes up with stupid problems deliberately and beats my mom to death. He even takes large amount of money from my mom and doesn't return it and instead he says that my mom has taken all his earnings. But the most sad part is that my mom always keeps a happy face around me and never complain against him. I am now studying in 11th standard and my dad keeps on telling me that if my mom is in the house then I will never be successful. I literally hate my dad, and in front of relatives he threatens us that we need to behave like a happy family, basically me and my mom just act in front of them that we are a cheerful family when basically we are not. I am really writing this with tears in my eyes, I have understood now that I need to get a job and with my salary I need to free my mom from the hell we are living in. I sometimes feel difficult to concentrate in my studies as all the memories of my dad beating my mom keeps flashing in my mind. I cry silently. In this comment section I am basically getting freedom to write whatever pain my mind has saved.

I am 52 married to an American man now. But those memories still haunt me I get flash backs and have been diagnosed with PTSD. My career is gone. Our society does not take this crime seriously. And this is terrible because women whose partners don't beat them are regarded as "lucky" and are expected to overlook all their other faults and try harder to be "a good wife".
Moreover, in households where this does happen, it teaches children very wrong things.

All this starts at home itself--when parents hits their kids for small small mistakes.
    This mindset needs to change!!!

I like how the title doesn't say that domestic violence only happens to women. It happens to all genders and everyone has the right to seek help. Please come forward regardless your gender and age. You might think that people will make fun of you for coming forward, but every such situation starts with haters and you should know that you are respected, loved and the wise youth got your back.

Education is the key to end violence against women. When a woman is educated and financially independent, she would be able to advocate for herself and be willing to walk out of a toxic family or relationship.

The texts quoted by her in this video about Manusmriti are vague. The texts tells the woman यंत्र नारी पुज्यते तत्र रमे देवता
It means even in a family there is no worship of any god goddess or supereme being or almighty but the women in the family ate empowered happy and contented the family will be blessed in all times and prosper
The text she shown in video it means different people having different mindests, thoughts, experience, approaches need to be be explained differently the thoughts , ideas and concepts

After seeing this video and reading other comments, I feel genuinely sad for people who face domestic violence or any kind of violence on a daily basis. The thought of it makes me sick that men want to dominate themselves and show that women are nothing but mere servants. The reasons why we should give proper education to everyone is so that people can stand for themselves and justify the actions of others. I am so sick of the mentality of the society
