    Among my very favorite memories of my years in New York: 12.14.13, seeing Twelfth Night, and...at the end of the show (I sat on the stage)...Fry coming out to announce the passing of Peter O'Toole. As sad as that was to hear (but no surprise), Fry's loving and respectful speech and storytelling was moving and hilarious. I treasure that memory.

      hammertapping Racist?! Oppressive?! He is one of the most intelligent, well spoken, talented and morally just personalities in the UK. He is a vocal campaigner for equal rights, both in race and in terms of gay rights and I challenge you to find ONE newspaper article from a well-established source with proof to back up this rubbish that you're spouting - and when I say article, I don't mean just any nutcase troll online spouting loads of shit. And as far as I'm aware, his own controversial public remark was commenting on the high levels of anti-semitism in Poland. He was forced to retract the remark, but judging from what we saw during the Euro 2012 football tournament, we know that this opinion is not so far from the truth. So if you're hating on him for being against anti-semitism, then YOU saw are an utter cock-womble!!

    You guys might want to rethink the title of the tv station lol, I guess I might be mildly dyslexic, but you don't want to know what I read it as first.

      Me, too! My husband and I love both Stephen Fry and Mark Rylance in everything they do-- so great to see them be able to act together in "Twelfth Night"! (Have you read Fry's three volumes of memoirs? My husband and I read all three them aloud to each other-- so good and highly recommended if you're a fan of his too and haven't read them yet!)

    Listen to Mark Rylance on authorship. Strained attempts at explanations here revealed: Twelfth Night epiphanies.

    "return to David Dinkins police tactics"
    Hahaha . . .
    In fact the turnaround in crime began under Dinkins with his "community policing". And the turnaround at Times Square, which they begin the interview talking about, was started by Dinkins getting Disney to agree to come in.
    Well the guy is from the New York Post, so what did I expect?

    Was he any good? Stephen Fry turns his hands to many activities but acting hasn't been his greatest strengths. I recall he has four good turns; Jeeves, Oscar Wilde, a comedy Duke of Wellington and General Melchett.

      I saw Fry play Malvolio at the Globe, and I thought he did the job very well.

      I never thought he was a good actor. That Oscar Wilde film was terrible.

      As Malvolio he was utterly perfect, working the crowd incredibly well-- try and locate a DVD recording of the RSC Twelfth Night if you can, it's certainly worth it !

    The thing that galls most is that he’s wrong. Sam Barnett doesn’t play Olivia, he plays Olivia’s brother. How present was Steven in all this?

    • @vilgessuola
      @vilgessuola 4 года назад

      He plays Viola's brother. Olivia's brother is dead, which is why she is in mourning.

    • @emilystockard8027
      @emilystockard8027 4 года назад +3

      Barnett plays Viola's brother, Sebastian, but the actors playing the twins switched roles. There is a dvd with Barnett playing Sebastian, but clips here show him playing Viola. Olivia's brother is dead at the play's beginning, and Sebastian, Viola's brother is thought to be dead. Mary Rylance plays Olivia.

    Fry is so overrated, as far as his opinions. You can watch Twelfth Night 2012 on RUclips. The whole company is wonderful. Especially Mark Rylance and the men playing Toby Belch & Maria, and Aguecheek & Feste. #glorious

    I understand the ranting, I mean a like the guy a lot, but I can not feel easy about it when I know he dislike my race, Arabs, I try to overlook that esp with ppl in showbiz but it is not that easy, one day all these ppl will be looked at as we look at anti-Semites now, till then, lets just enjoy the show
