How many of you would have a business that employs people in another country and not check regularly to make sure its a place where you yourself would want to work. I personally think these companies should be fined every time they allow something like this to happen. Its a crime. They purposely have their factories in countries where labor laws are not enforced or do not exist. If they were honest and decent people they would pay for human rights.. Shame on them.
This is just people trying to rise up in society after west robbed and took everything asians had. Obviously you will say it is not your fault but all the wealth in your land was taken from other people. Think of it like hunger games and the west is district one. We all know what happened in district one now don't we :).
These workers should video record their working conditions, and put it on youtube. When people realise how their clothes are made they may change attitude ...
Sad that brand name clothing is marked up solely for the purpose of enriching shareholders. I personally stopped spending money on their crap years ago and you should too!
The fact that their bosses only care about production and abuse their workers so much is really saddening. We shouldn't sit and wait, but to stop this unacceptable behaviour!
This is whats happening in Biscuit factories like Jacobs in UK which pruduces Family Circles and Victoria biscuits. They force the workers to work fast and pack buscuits more than the expected target so the team lead and Managers gets the bonus. When we ask to go drink some water they don't let us as the converyor belt is too fast and the line would get jammed if not packed fast enough on time. The old experience workers treat new workers like slaves and the team leads support them.
When we buy clothes, we don’t really think about where they actually came from, but it’s high time to recognise the abuse people faced producing a piece of garment that we probably only wear once or twice. It’s appalling to see the ugly behind all the glory of fashion brands like Ralph Laurens, we really need to do more research and avoid supporting companies that abuse their employees.
These sweatshops are just torturing their workers, not allowing them to have meal breaks are particularly unacceptable. Not only should they get desirable wages, but also they should be allowed to have proper working condition. I hope there are labour laws set up to heighten public awareness on these poor workers.
It takes a lot of courage for the women to speak up in what they are facing, we should respect them and take action in order to help. Companies should be responsible for their clothes production chains, making sure all their workers are treated fairly.

@Pepe No.14 (*serfs, serfdom had died out by the 1500s)this is true, but the UK like many European nations did practice slavery before then abolishing it and helping to stop it. This is crossing into “alternative truth” for lack of a better word
Pepe I am Irish & the experience of Ireland from the time of Cromwell suffering ,horrific violence & slaughter, to the taking of our people’s fertile land & driving us to the margins, setting the ground for the “Great Hunger” no one wants to have in English history books, the million who were left to starve to death under Queen Victoria’s reign while tons of food left Ireland to feed England or the mass exodus it caused of another million.Nor the 250,000 taken by Cromwell put on ships to the Caribbean, working as unpaid slave labour for fixed terms, the even more repulsive taking of children to acclimatise them to conditions there so they would no drop dead so readily as the adults were ,the cruel & sadistic punishments used against the later arrived African Slaves the Irish has already been subjected to.All of the hundreds of years of oppression & exploitation, those lost to 1916, the civil war, war of Independence, the conflict of Northern Ireland.NO no one includes that in English History in the UK, we have Black History Month, but no Irish History Month!! Then I have bigoted black fools abusing me for being a white oppressor, telling me I am a racist just because I am white. You know what I say to these ignorant, prejudiced racist black people I am not White I am Irish get educated then get back to me!!!
Exploiting workers should not be accepted. It is hard to imagine a long working hour with no meals and toilet break. Shops has given up humanity exploiting workers for maximising their profit. As consumers, we should refrain from purchasing from these cruel shops in order to safe these workers from the long working hours and express our thoughts to shops owners. It is hoped to see shops prioritised their workers safety over making profit.
Sounds like some of the factories here in England. 12 your shifts with only two half hour breaks. Shop/supermarket ground floor staff get 1/4 of an hour even after working 6 hours. No time to get to the canteen to eat or go to the loo
Why could the company treat their employees like this 😢 I can’t imagine having to work for hours without breaks or water, and being paid with an unreasonably low salary. It makes me feel grateful for being born in Hong Kong where we can seek help from many organisations if similar situations happen. This issue definitely deserves more public attention😖😖
That's why these businesses go to these countries because of cheap labour and higher profits margins. Maximise profits is the only reason these businesses use these people to exploit them its disgusting especially the top fashion brands charge a small fortune for there products to buy and pay these people a pittance in wages.
The Indian authority is supposed the one to be blamed on. Laws should be properly made to protect the workers. The companies don’t seek for the orders be done in this way.
As long as we continue to buy ourselves unethical clothes and support companies who exploit their workers, they will keep doing it. It is our addiction to fast fashion and new garments every few months that causes this to keep happening. This is hardly news, there have been heartbreaking documentaries on this made many years ago. This is a very mild piece of journalism on a very harsh reality. Buy second hand clothing, buy ethical clothing, buy wisely, treat your clothes well and: boycott the unethical companies, only language they understand is money loss.
It's always been about such abuses being discovered followed by big brands fobing the public off by quoting over and over again the kind of 'strict' regulations they have in place to counter any malpractice. How about focusing on implementation of those rules? And it doesn't stop there (fashion industry etc.), it happens across many other sectors/businesses throughout Britain... The right laws are usually there, what's massively lacking is implementation and enforcement...
What did you expect? Real life, the world was divided into good countries and not. And difference will raise via technology, restricted resources and etc
obviously, the companies were cruel. however, i feel like the customers are to blame as well. we should take responsibility over what we buy. fast fashion is making the situation worse. a lot of people reckon they could buy whatever they want as long as they are able to pay for it due to the low price of clothing, but this is such a selfish act. think of these workers, being exploited to satisfy the greedy demand of us customers. we should definitely think deeper instead of just the number on the price tag before shopping.
As a retailer it is not only the brand should be blamed for. High rent high labor and high electricity in Western country all cause those company doing those
Tbh, it’s totally not all these big Brands fault, it’s the fault of the local Indian subcontractors fault , that’s why India could never replace East Asian or asean countries .
That was the way ... Why do you think mass production is being deployed from foreign countries. Because this is the same way they all do. Otherwise, all the brands would have their production line in their own homelands with their own people. the stupid world this Is.
They can lie all they want. Those company would never takecare about this. In india, labours are not considered as a another human. I think this must be from tamilnadu as they speak tamil. Tiruppur is famous for these kinds of clothing industries ,not only for that but also for exploiting thousands of struggling people's life. This things won't be even spoken a day in our medias. So, lets go and fuck some other problem and worry about it.
If rigid labor laws are implemented, then no new investments will come in. And India will remain even poorer. What we need is a balance between capitalism and socialism.

This is why I dont buy these lines of clothing. No excuse. As if they dont know.
This is not the fault of Europeans or Westerners. Its the fault of the Indian or Asian society which values money.
No they won't. They'll express shock horror and concern. And the next time they go shopping they'll look at prices and shrug.
Do you think these people even possess a cell phone? ....... Or have any knowledge on social media or other networks
@@Isabella-qq2oi that is a fair point, it's very sad.
@@dinp1356 yeahh
Sad that brand name clothing is marked up solely for the purpose of enriching shareholders. I personally stopped spending money on their crap years ago and you should too!
And how proudly we wear these branded clothes. Alas!
no wonder ralph lauren has a personal net worth of 5.9 billion dollars
The fact that their bosses only care about production and abuse their workers so much is really saddening. We shouldn't sit and wait, but to stop this unacceptable behaviour!
It's the situation of almost 95% of all the private companies in India! The labour laws sucks in India! And Narendra Modi should be ashamed of himself
Investigate?..as if RL don't know or refuse to acknowledge.
OMG the eyes of Indian women 👌
These sweatshops are just torturing their workers, not allowing them to have meal breaks are particularly unacceptable. Not only should they get desirable wages, but also they should be allowed to have proper working condition. I hope there are labour laws set up to heighten public awareness on these poor workers.
In Tamil Nadu. Take any Action??
It takes a lot of courage for the women to speak up in what they are facing, we should respect them and take action in order to help. Companies should be responsible for their clothes production chains, making sure all their workers are treated fairly.
UK need to pay reparations for its colonial era and The Crusades
Just the UK? Saladin the Peaceful? 😂
@Pepe No.14 i agree mostly but “Britain never had slavery”, you mean domestically while trading and profiting from their wholesale transport in the millions?🧐🧐
@Pepe No.14 (*serfs, serfdom had died out by the 1500s)this is true, but the UK like many European nations did practice slavery before then abolishing it and helping to stop it. This is crossing into “alternative truth” for lack of a better word
@Pepe No.14 the Royal African Company transported more slaves than any institution to partake in the Atlantic slave trade
Why don't they just move to the UK/Europe!? 🙃
Indian government should take responsibility and introduce strict laws to make sure all labour get fair and reasonable paid.
And so they will. Right after they've spent the last piece of silver to cross their palms...
The over 75's are now being hunted down by a new 800 strong BBC team of license enforcers and bailiffs who cost £38M to setup.
What's that got to do with the topic? Bugger off!
Correct RATE ???? That needs to be explained because that sounds like corporate jargon
Rights for Indian women!
Where’s the news
welcome to "Tiruppur "
All those brands know exactly what is happening, that is the reason why they go to third world countries to manufacture
this is very sad to watch. is there any brands which do not do this ? n
Oh please this must stop...let them do the work but pay them accordingly. Civilised? No...it's sickening...wake up people.
obviously, the companies were cruel. however, i feel like the customers are to blame as well. we should take responsibility over what we buy. fast fashion is making the situation worse. a lot of people reckon they could buy whatever they want as long as they are able to pay for it due to the low price of clothing, but this is such a selfish act. think of these workers, being exploited to satisfy the greedy demand of us customers. we should definitely think deeper instead of just the number on the price tag before shopping.
The working hours for daily wages are proposed to be increased. Whether wages Will be increased or not is not known.
That was the way ... Why do you think mass production is being deployed from foreign countries. Because this is the same way they all do. Otherwise, all the brands would have their production line in their own homelands with their own people. the stupid world this Is.
The supermarket must know the conditions
Here come angry commentaries by the same people that wear those stuff.
This has been happening for years !!
It will be nice to hear the outcome after
Our labor cost is cheap because our population is huge. More supply is less cost.
I’ve heard this many years back though its another popular brand very sad to know

Hypocrites everywhere
What is the Indian government doing about it? Why aren't they implementing employment laws?
If rigid labor laws are implemented, then no new investments will come in. And India will remain even poorer. What we need is a balance between capitalism and socialism.
Hello been for twenty years. Remember give jobs to the poorest program.
So next time you see those woke celebrities in their very expensive gowns posing on the red carpet maybe think about the human cost

This has been happening for decades now.
Modern day slavery.
I doubt it is cause for revolution.
If it was, revolution would be here already.
@@CodexSan You're probably right that its been happening for decades, but the pandemic is new, the social upheaval in the west is new, war in far-eastern europe is new. The climate crisis is lingering. It's all slowly adding up
What about those forced to make masks
Reviews present ignorance of how people struggle in poor conditions. You have to admit that some want decent lifes while some want to just stay alive. And they are struggling by exhausting their lifes in these factories. You dont want to see this? Fine, factories gone, they are staying in even poor condition. In the mean time, factories rebuilt in somewhere you dont see, yet. This is reality.

Abiy Ahmed the Nobel Peace Price Winner has waged war in collaboration with Eritrean President Essayas on the People of Tigray. Abiy has been marginalizing the Tigray people: he cut of the Federal budget, he refused to distribute international aids that has been donated to the country, he stopped and blocked international visitors and businesses to Tigray, he blocked federal roads to and from Tigray for over 2 years there by restricting flow of goods and necessities, he refused to give face masks to Tigray students, he removed all Tigrean people from the rest of the country and put them in jail right now, he has used the Ethiopian media to attack the Tigray people and are being used to discriminate and encourage genocidal propagandas against Tegaru. This brand behind untold story a poor workers
I honestly don’t mind if they work extra hours but they definitely need to get paid the additional hours they worked. It’s not fair for them.
bbc first in the list of brands
No, shock horror - who would have thought 🤭
CAPITALISM.
Why does the BBC use someone with rhotacism for the job of anchor? Imagine people paying to go and listen to a concert pianist who misses a note very two bars because she has arthritis?
India did not spend money on poor but focused on aggression, though it should pay more on its poor people. Look, this is what it did to its neighbor countries.
