I love your honesty and being prepared to talk about your difficulties. I am just a novice and like to buy various radios from China. I just have some fun seeing what I can tune into world wide. I live in a flat area of England UK 🇬🇧 which is often a disadvantage for receiving radio signals. Height is always an advantage in the world of radio reception. My house is 50ft above sea level which limits my reception. In the better weather I will often take portable radios to higher ground (150 - 200 ft) in the local area and see what more I can recieve. I will often throw a long wire antenna up a tree and attach it to the radio for better SW reception. Being outside is always an advantage too. Away from the interference caused by electrical equipment indoor.
Don't give up. Just keep experimenting. Radio is a great hobby 📻💕

I tried a different receiver and I did have better luck outdoors. But even then I could only find three active stations (two in Spanish and one religious). I know hobbyists who have enormous antennas but that isn't practical for me.

Best radio ever, just ordered one, sounds amazing for it's size, and has all the bands you need, comes even with app to control it remotely

I don't know what you're doing wrong. I find it to be a great little radio with excellent sound quality and loud too.

I think the list of things I'm doing wrong is longer than the list I'm doing right. I'm glad it's working out for you.

Shortwave is not like AM or FM tuning, and requires a long wire/antenna to draw signals. Clip the alligator clip to the pullout antenna and toss the wire up onto a high tree limb. This is not exactly an entry-level radio; mainly a portable unit.

Yes you have it right! You need to hang the wire out and clip the alligator clip on the antenna and listen to shortwave!

Thanks for clearing that up. And thanks for visiting my channel!

Did you try outside? Or at least hang the antenna out side? Houses with sheetrock wire are good at blocking signals.

I didn't try taking it outside. I still have this radio sitting on a shelf so I could definitely try it. I have a couple of HAM friends that I haven't seen in a while, too. Maybe it's time to pay one or both of them a visit. Thanks for the tip!

Why review a product that you know nothing about 😢 it is a fantastic Radio, justice read the manual.

I was very interested in entering the hobby. This radio seemed like an inexpensive and approachable gateway product. If you must have some expertise to use a product with an entry-level price, it eliminates nearly all of the potential market. I did read the manual and simply had no success. Maybe I had a faulty unit. I appreciate the feedback, however. Thanks for stopping by my channel.

How many computers and tv's are near you? Powerlines? Radio travels better on a cold night.

I am engulfed in technology of all sorts, but nothing that didn't pass UL certification.

Heh… definitely. I always wonder if I got a defective unit when something fails this much.

You might live in a "radioshadow" area, i dont know the proper word in english,, IF you live in shadow, it doesnt help whatever radio you have, only propably a very long wire antenna, like the one you got with the radio, but about a 100times longer!!, - Levi in Sweden

I tried a different radio and stood outside. I was able to pick up three channels. But I think you are correct. I know a couple of HAM radio operators and their antennas are huge.
