thanks a lot and yes I did this fully by ear. if you want to do this you have to do it a little bit of it every day with songs where the harmony is pretty simple like pop songs or rock song. then try to do it on jazzier style of music like neo soul, fusion ... learning theory is pretty useful too. when you're listening to something you have to focus around what the lowest note is, in general the harmony is define by it. and lastly if the is too fast don't hesitate on putting it in a slower tempo. hope that helps

nvm I tried alternating the c#7 and switching to a les paul, that did the trick, god bless shorter scale necks
