The lyrics of the song "So it happened ― the men left ..." conveys all the female longing for husbands, sons and fathers who went to war. A timeless work, not tied to an epoch or a historical event, carries the response of the distant Great Patriotic War (1941-1945). The song was written in 1972. Vladimir Vysotsky is a legendary personality, a man of an epoch, he has not been with us for 42 years, but his songs are sung and will be sung, they are always relevant. This is not the first Vysotsky song that Diana sings and, as always, she performed it perfectly, and heartfelt to tears. I am grateful to her for that.

Finding artists like Diana and through her I found Kino and through listeners I found other Russian artists and there's such a treasure trove of Russian music I've never heard before.

Diana sings another song by the great Russian songwriter Vysotsky. The melody is magnificent, so beautiful and Diana touches people's souls with her velvety voice.
* Who was the songwriter?
Vladimir Vysotsky (1938-1980) was a Russian poet, actor and singer, inconvenient for the state but the people loved him. In his songs he sang about topics that officially did not exist in the Soviet Union: prostitution, crime, anti-Semitism. He is still known and popular today in Russia, where he is considered the greatest songwriter of the 20th century. He always played his songs on a 7-string guitar.
Vysotsky died in 1980. His funeral took place during the Moscow Olympics. The Soviet media did not mention his death. But the news spread like wildfire, and the funeral turned into the largest non-state demonstration Moscow had ever seen.
In a 2018 survey of the most important personalities in Russia of the 20th century, Vysotsky came in second behind Yuri Gagarin. The asteroid of the outer main belt (2374, Vladvysotskij) was named after him. (google helped)

Vladimir Vysotsky died in 1980 on the eve of the Moscow Olympics. He was married to the French actress Marina Vladi and could live in the USSR or in France. But he never thought of leaving his homeland forever. His friend, the famous sculptor and artist Shemyakin, had been living in France for a long time. Vysotsky often stayed with him, but always returned to Moscow. Vladimir Vysotsky was an actor, poet, composer and musician. But he rarely acted in films, more episodic roles or supporting roles, his poems were not published, so he was not a member of the writers' union and it was difficult to insert his poems into the film, he was not shown on TV. Diana and Brandon made the song more modern. True, the song did not become easier from this. Vysotsky wrote about the soldiers of the war of 41-45 and about the women who were waiting for them from the war so that they would stay alive.

Спасибо за попытку понять лирику Высоцкого, у англоязычных слушателей обычно сложности с восприятием такого рода лирики. Автор не рассказывает, описывает историю, а пытается поместить слушателя внутрь ситуации, поставить его на место героя.
Понять лирику Высоцкого через весьма сомнительный перевод на английский? Сомневаюсь в возможности этого. Одно "return with song" вместо "возвращайтесь скорей", мягко говоря, весьма удивляет. А подобного в этом "переводе" полно. И зачем? Ладно, был бы это поэтический перевод с необходимостью сохранять размер и обеспечивать рифмовку. А так - зачем было "улучшать" Высоцкого?
Как обидно,что мы тупо сидим за своей невеликой,некитайской стеной и мир не знает таких глыб(планетарного масштаба),как тот же В.Высоцкий.Диана одна из немногих ,кто его может исполнять достойно.Очень важен текст,но даже субтитры дают некоторое представление о глубине смысла .Диана исполняет еще одну песню Высоцкого «Кони привередливые».Ваша реакция очень понравилась,спасибо.Ждем новых.

Это как раз тот случай, когда лучше бы был буквальный перевод. Образы песни простые и понятные на любом языке. А тут вместо похоронок какие-то новости, вести....Согласитесь буквальный перевод типа: "сообщение (уведомление) о смерти", донёс бы смысл без искажений.

Что бы понять всю боль этой песни , нужно посмотреть документальный сериал Неизвестная война , его сняли вместе США и СССР и тогда , говорили историю , как есть он 70 х годов прошлого века и много интервью людей переживших это , слезы сдержать невозможно , как и понять какие силы надо иметь , чтобы сделать и пережить невозможное и остаться добрыми людьми , какими и были советские люди 😥🔥🌹🌹.
