Greetings from Scotland! Never doubt Diana singing anything, because she will surprise you every time! This was when she was in the first Covid lockdown at 16yo in her bedroom at home with donated recording studio equipment, she learned to use herself! All just so she could produce this and "Havana" to entertain her fans at a time when she couldn't hold concerts! Diana is 19yo currently but I've been following her since she was around 13yo. Diana is a natural Dramatic Contralto so the lower registers are her comfort zone but she now has a 4 octave range and it's increasing. She also naturally sings with polyphonic overtones so it sounds like many voices at the same time!
Diana's birthmother had multiple miscarriages but when Diana came along, she seemed to hate her. She verbally and physically abused her, trying to drown her and belittle her. It all culminated when (at 3yo) she dragged her to a bus stop with a broken collarbone and abandoned her, saying "Survive if you can" A passing relative took her in but because she cried constantly (naturally with a broken collarbone) she took her to the authorities who removed Diana from her birthmothers care and placed her in an orphanage. For almost 2 years Diana never gave up hope and she knew that she was meant for something better. (This story is in her Wikipedia entry) Finally her new mother (Irina Ponik, who worked as a masseuse there occasionally) Signed her adoption papers and took her home. She vowed to pay Irina back for her kindness. Irina had a real struggle because Diana had obviously been badly affected by the experiences and at 5yo, she had a very bad stammer. It was recommended that she be taken for singing lessons to help this and immediately it was recognised that Diana had perfect pitch and an excellent ear for music and songs. 1 year later, at 6yo, Diana was performing solo on stage!
This young unique phenomenon sang everywhere and anywhere she could, working constantly to earn money for the family who rescued her. At 13yo she held her 1st solo concert and one of the songs she sang was in a very rare Sephardic Jewish/Spanish dialect, a song called "Me Voy" (I'm leaving) with a power and emotional commitment that staggers belief! ruclips.net/video/pnlgB90iTf0/видео.html
She was already winning every contest in Russia and other countries that she could get to. Then at 14yo Diana took part in an amazing Russian project "You're Super!" for abandoned/disadvantaged children (because Diana spent time in an orphanage) The 1st song she performed shocked the judges and audience so much, it went viral. I was "nervous" because I did not think that Aha's song would be able to be adapted well for Diana's lower register. The song is orginally sung very high. "Nervous" meaning 'full of nerves' because I wanted to like it and was looking forward to it but was fearful she may not have been able to do it well.
But she was fantastic! I never should have doubted!

Thank you for sharing time on your channel for Diana. I seen one comment below that is very fitting for this time of year, it is, What a Wonderful World from Louis Armstrong fame. Diana and Brandon Stone recorded this last holiday season, you will find the video on her yt channel. Brandon is a well known jazz piano player, singer/composer and producer. Brandon produced Diana's first cd/album released last December. They also sang a duet together called Side By Side in English, also in Russian, 2 versions same melody but different meanings. Another comment that stood out to me is her cover of My Love by the Kovacs. The reason is her polyphonic harmonics, the bridge section of the song is hummed and for me is the best example of her ability to produce duel tone singing. Simply beautiful. She did this during Covid lock downs to please the fans, that is why it is short and sweet.
Now you know that there is no song that is unsuitable for her because she may be a contralto but she also has insane range and she can flip between contralto and soprano like child's play and the insane part is that she is still only 19.

The background of the song is essential to know. The title of the song is "Ornery (or "Fastidious" or "Finicky") Horses". The song has nothing to do with horses in reality - the horses are being used as a metaphor for life. Great reaction! I listen to her practically every day now for years. She also did “Havana”, while on lockdown, which shows a bit of her personality. Also please check out Hua Chenyu- China’s most influential artist. “Nunchucks”, “Bullfighting” and “Madhouse” are a few of my favorites. I’m 67 and have never heard of these kinds of voices and or talents ever. I grew up with music. These two, imo, have potential to become legendary if they choose to continue. Enjoy whenever you can. I haven't heard Diana do this song before, but I was very much looking forward to hearing her sing it shifted down a couple of octaves--singers do covers like that all the time, especially if they're not the same gender as the original artist. As was stated below this was done during covid, at home on equipment donated to her. I have not been able to verify this but she was the person who did the changes in the composition. It was all her doing.

Big disappointment that the song was so short. It seemed to me that it lasted 30-40 seconds. Then I checked, it turned out to be 2 minutes. It's always like this with Diana, the songs seem shorter than they really are.

Hey dude! Diana is singing in the same key as the original. Morten Harket is a tenor. Conteralto and tenor have have about the same range (tenor usually a little lower). So this key is good for Diana's voice. Her voice sounds deeper though. That's probably why it seems to you that she sings lower, but the key is actually the same. And just so you know women never sing lower than man just because of the size of vocal folds. The highest male voice is about close to the lowest female
