I just wanted to let everyone know that I have successfully moved to Florida as of 11-2-2020 . I had $5,200 in savings to make the move. This can be done people! You just need a few dollars. Going from snow to tropical in a matter of 3 days in a car is unreal. Good luck to everyone else trying to make it also !
Congrats! We closed on our house 10/22/2020. I gave up everything to move, I had a really nice life but I hated where I lived. Now I get to 'start over' :)
I moved to San Diego from Atlanta and had $1.75 on me when I got here and no job. Fortunately, I had already paid my first month’s rent before I arrived, and my mom, who drove out with me, paid for some groceries. I went out the next day and got a part time job at a Blockbuster Video, and a week later, I got another full time job at a hotel. It was tough, but it worked out. This was in 1991, though. Don’t know how easy that would be these days, but I feel that where there’s a will, there’s a way!
That is definitely an inspirational story! And you were basically broke, and the fact that you still made it happen, proves 100% that when there is a will there is a way. I have always believed that to be true, and stories like yours confirms it 👌
I bought a vintage RV and found an RV park that’s $400 a month & comes with a parking spot for my car. I figured I’ll stay there for as long as it takes to get a job and save up enough money that I’m comfortable selling the RV and moving into an apartment. Im nervous
I lived in Florida as a child. From the internet comments, I'm appalled by the nasty retoric from "Floridians". Don't come here and go home! I would NEVER say that to another American 🏈 or any human being...

However, I never told anyone, "Don't come here; go home!". My hats off to Chicago...🎩 Funny, fellow Yankee, southern hospitality is "gone with the wind..."
I did it right in the middle of the 2008 recession. Had two kids my wife and three cars full of everything we owned, and about $4;700 dollars to our name. I had already made arrangements to rent a condo for $1,500 a month so finding a job was critical. There are jobs available everywhere, maybe not the ideal jobs but they give you some cash coming in. Also the pay in Florida is lower than you may expect. Best check your ego at the state line.
I successfully moved to SC in 2020 with just 2000$. I sold a car and left got an apartment while up in NH before I even left and that was that. Now here I am back in NH my next move is Florida.
I am sick and tired of Washington state. I want to go to Florida for the tropical weather, but I've heard the cost of living, car insurance, flood insurance, and hurricane insurance prices have gotten really high along with electricity (essential for majority of the year or black mold grows). Is it a bad idea to move with 10k?
I moved to Florida in 89 with $5000. House rent was $400, but my money was still quickly gone. My wife, and I worked seven days a week for ten years. I opened a painting company. Back then I was one of the very few painters in Sarasota. Thirty three years later I am pretty well off. But now a days there are painters everywhere. I don't think the model could be duplicated now, mostly because home prices have gone up so much. Got my first house for 70.000 and it's now worth $325,000
That is a really cool moving to Florida story Lloyd! I still think anyone can do it if they are motivated enough, but now its just harder, as are most things in life

I moved to Sarasota, Florida in 2008. I moved here alone without a job...I ended up homeless for 7 years. It is very very hard to meet people. Everyone is married and retired. @@erickh82082 You could try Ocala, West Melbourne, Lakeland. These are more inland and affordable places
I moved to Sarasota, Florida in 2008. I moved here alone without a job...I ended up homeless for 7 years. It is very very hard to meet people. Everyone is married and retired. Everyone on the Gulf Coast is married and retired. Married and retired people aren't very outgoing and open to meeting people. Now I'm doing well and want to leave...lol...
Im sorry but how were you homeless for seven yrs?
No money...
hey michael, thanks for all your videos. im so excited to start planning. do you know anything about homestead exemptions, do retirees and senior citizens get extra exemptions?
You're welcome Jamie! Yes the homestead exemption allows you to deduct the first 50k of assessed value off your property taxes. I don't believe there are any extra perks based on age for homestead
If you know someone there already then yes it can be done... I did it when I had a girlfriend there.
So you’re saying there’s a chance 😎
Oh yes, there is!
Take a chance! 😎
How much you charge to stay at your place as a roommate
Haha! I don't do roomies
@@MichaelBordenaro lol 😆
Uber is a good side hustle and you can meet new people. I wonder how many more videos I have to see before I move lol
Yes absolutely it is! Haha, well the goal of the videos is not to convince you, just to help you in case you decide to move 😉
What's the best area in miami to live without needing a car?
Definitely Miami Beach, Brickell, sunny isles, maybe coral gables too if you live right in town
@@MichaelBordenaro thanks! Maybe you should do a video on this subject that would be great! I hate driving and car ownership.
@@freegan1 Yes i have thought about that actually and it is a good idea. I may end up doing it 👍
Florida is expensive
Can you do a video about buying a rental condo and when retire can move in to live !
What exactly would you like to know about this process?
@@MichaelBordenaro yes ! What should I have to look for ? Thinking to move there one day but I like to plan out before I move ! With 20% down can I buy a small condo and rent out for awhile until I can move ! Thks
@@VN_panda Be sure the condo you buy allows owners to rent it out. Many places have to be owner occupied. Also check out HOA rules and regulations. Florida has tons of communities with tons of rules.
You tell it like it is’ THANKS!
Yes sir, you're welcome!
Hi Micheal , what is a good number for you as a realtor? I am trying to get in touch with you?
@@schambach71739 Hi Sherri, I saw your email and I replied to you. Send me your number and I'll get in touch with you 👍 I get a TON of spam calls so I only allow my contacts to reach me on my personal number
I want to tell you my son just moved there , he is 19. He is there for school. Similar to your story.
@@schambach71739 Oh thats great! Good for him for having the courage to come alone😊. Look forward to speaking with you soon
A little bit off topic but can you elaborate in a future video on how to know if you can trust a realtor or not I've talked to several in the past several months up in the Broward County area and some of them I just don't feel we're on the level I didn't get a good vibe I didn't feel like they had my best interest and I would rather be told find out if I'm being paranoid or if it's just me. Thank you in advance
That is a good question, and I feel like might be the perfect opportunity to address in a future short form video, and I'm sure you are not the only one wondering that
@@MichaelBordenaro awesome , and no I'm not. I mean if I'm doing it wrong I'd rather be told but I pretty much told my realtor specifically what I had in mind so she keeps trying to push on places for me that don't meet the criteria and the standard I had discussed with her
@@donnahollywood8007 Oh no! That is not good, and you should definitely walk away from her then. That is the worst kind of agent...
@@MichaelBordenaro I did. I'm not having something put on me that I do not want to buy.
@@donnahollywood8007 Good, that is the right move. I can't stand when agents do that. To me its unprofessional, and shows you're not listening to what your client wants
I remember you saying your modelling agency helped you out re accommodations? Sharing an apartment?
Yes that’s correct they set me up with a roommate but I still had to come up with all of the money LOL. But I’m grateful for them doing that because I literally had never been here and had no idea where to stay
very good video Michael, if you move from overseas you might need more :) how is the situation with covid? Are the hotels still open and do they have business ?
Thank you Xenia, yes most definitely you'll need more from over seas. The covid situation, I honestly dont even pay attention to anymore. I don't follow the news, so I am out of the loop really with what is happening, but everything seems and feels the same as always here in Miami Beach. All the hotels are open, they are getting busier and have business👍
Wish I could see those industrial condos in Orlando.......I mean I want the building, entirely.
Mike, could you consider doing a walkthru tour video of those condos in Orlando? Pleeeeeese?
Probably not my friend, Orlando is pretty far away, not exactly right down the street from me. Maybe next time I'm up that way
you should do a video about moving to florida with bitcoin
Interesting idea
I’m moving to Florida tomorrow because of doge coin 🪙
Can I stay with you?? 😂 Great video!
Haha sorry, I don't take in guests😉
No way i move to Florida with no money... You gotta be crazy with all the people in competition for work and living arrangements, etc. adn not just any there to live. Some of Florida is nice and other parts are not good to live. It can expensive to live there also
Yeah it's not for everyone, but some people do it and others have stories of success doing something similar here in the comments. Where there is a will there is a way
have money but yet no money in the video. Clivkbait
In a nutshell: Move to Florida with SOME money, mooch off relatives, borrow more money and take out loans you can't afford.
All bad ideas.
