That was the plan before we did our research about sleep safety and all that. We used it like it is recommended: for sleeping through the day. However as a new born the bassinet was great for night and day sleep. Only used the bassinet for a very short time though since the baby starts moving and grows really quick.
So we did end up buying a crib which we used for about 6 months and then moved out baby to a floor bed.
