    Man the first thing as ruhn is to rush each army to the two southern khandish towns. They are huge money makers, and in a defensive battle your starting armies can take the garrisons without too much issue, plus it spawns the khandish general with units. Lest is usually the last place i take as dorwinion will bash their heads against its garrison for me and delay their taking of the rest of rhovannion

    Great video! Rhun is the most stylish evil faction by far.
    How about giving the Rhunic and Khandish elite chariots skirmish mode, or is that not possible because they count as elephants. Given the fact that they are at their best as ranged units against infantry that would make micromanaging them a lot easier. Javelins, the few AP archers and crossbows would still make them drop like flies, so I don't think they'd become that op.

Dale having heavy halberds and good armored second tier units, dale having no other enemy than rhun (as long they dont border mirkwood). Erebor started to send full stacks after turn 35.
    Dorwinion was much easier to deal with bc theiy are near the recruitment centers of rhun and after you have taken sant annui they are done for.

    Hey when i heard you talking about far harad mercenaries, i got an idea, ive been playing for years now on a LOTR minecraft modded server, and they have added far harad factions, called the taurethrim and the morwaith, besides the half trolls that is.
    "Once a mighty empire that held all of Far Harad under its sway, the Taurethrim are but a shadow of their former selves. They dwell in the Far Harad Jungle, defending their homes from their sworn enemies, the Morwaith. In battle they wield deadly obsidian blades, and their hunters carry blowguns and poisoned darts." in other words theyre like native south americans.
    "Though their crafts and way of life may seem primitive to the Men of the North, the Morwaith lead complex lives. Their chieftains are many, separated by great distance and divided by cultural differences. They have many strange rituals and traditions, including the ritual slaying of wild animals. They are strong warriors in battle, sometimes riding on zebras against their enemies, and wielding spears, clubs, axes, and daggers." The morwaith are more like native north americans but with more similarities to the tauretrim in general due to living in close proximity to each other.
    Maybe a fun idea is to implement a far harad mercenary that are dark skinned blowgun soldiers that fire poisoned darts and use a small shield and a obsidian blade or axe in melee. making them a decent mid tier unit.
    Its just an idea though.

    • @boosterh1113
      @boosterh1113 4 года назад +1

      They are pretty useful, but remember that crossbow attack =/= bow attack. It is kind of the opposite of the pike animation. The slow rate of fire and the very flat trajectory required (firing crossbows in an arc is horribly ineffective in Med II) mean that they probably have an effective ranged attack equal to half their actual stat for the purposes of comparison. I don't think they are markedly more dangerous than the Daritai Hunters, although there is a bit more of a low floor-high ceiling effect with them.

    • @Kerendips
      @Kerendips 3 года назад +1

      @@boosterh1113 It's misleading and inaccurate to say that their ranged damage is halved. They have different quirks to them that once you understand you can exploit just like with the pikes who likewise definitely do not have three times the standard damage.

    I see you do this in every faction difficulty rating : x faction will not attack you because its at war with y and they keep their attention etc. Its always the case that if a faction is your enemy and its bordering you it will fuck you up as much as it can, it will even get out of its way and do stupid things to attack you.
    I have legit seen first hand, Gondor while i was playing with Isengard come from the rear while transpassing their enemies enedwaith territory just to attack me and we were neutral! Or Goblins attacking me as bree and we werent even shared a border, while they had only misty mountain regions and ost-in-edhil
    What i mean is that argument is not valid at all and you shouldnt use it to make a faction seem easier. Rhun is actually quite harder than you believe it is, and not for the reasons someone new will think. VH/VH (no cheats, NO CHEATS) you struggle to get to some regions before AI does including Mordor taking your script regions, Dorwinion expading like crazy, and you having the constant threat of weird ass Dale bringing a stack or two right next you your borders without declaring war but forcing you to keep a backup army just in case them or Erebor do the first move. You are usually way too stretched with Rhun and the general lack of Castles in their regions is something that isnt helping at all. Not to mention that if Khand turns good they will legit send their 2 doomstacks straight for Mattaram casually forgeting their capital was just sacked. Even mordor from time to time likes to attack you.
    Rhun is easily a 3 (coming from a seasoned veteran), and even rushing your "main" enemy Dorwinion is not a guaranted park walk afterwards like with other nations. Ive won GOOD Khand campaigns easier than i did with rhun, ive destroyed AA with Dol Amroth turn 8 and killed harad before barracks events just to give some examples, but still Rhun is giving me a headache every time i play. The unpredictability of the nearby and bordering factions is what makes it harder that it seems.

    •  4 года назад +4

      See you have said that and then only a few comments down (chronologically) I have someone say that Rhun is such a doddle and 1 is totally right.
      Who am I to believe?

    • @jamaly77
      @jamaly77 4 года назад +7

      @ To simply "win" is rather easy if you stay on Mordors side. However, it's basically impossible now to get Varfest before Mordor does (I tried with LegendofTotalWar levels of cheese and couldn't do it), and if you don't go for the western regions (former rebels) of Dorwinion, Mordor will get those aswell. Dale is swarming the Sea of Rhun at Turn 40-45, with way more numbers than they had before (Dale defeats Rhun frequently now if you're not involved).
      At the start of the campaign, you'll go bankrupt after like 2-3 turns, and if you're going to capture as many rebel settlements as possible, you won't get out of debt before turn 20-25, which means you can't build up your economy and you are immediately behind the AI. This has a massive effect in the long run. Additionally, many people simply do not like playing with negative money or can't handle it properly. I have played Rhun multiple times in every single version of the mod and it has never been more difficult than it is now. I like that btw, but I strongly disagree with the 1 rating.
      If you're good at the game and everything feels kinda easy doesn't mean every faction is a 1 on the difficulty scale. Those people don't know how to rate factions relatively to each other on a scale.
      If the rating is based on how strong of a position you have to basically stand alone in your area of the map against the nearest factions, Rhun is a 3.

    • @SomeInfamousGuy
      @SomeInfamousGuy 4 года назад +6

      @ Quite frankly you're terrible at rating difficulty. I say this as someone who loves what you've done with the submod.

    • @mrwildcaptain
      @mrwildcaptain 4 года назад +3

      @ honestly neither of us, the best way is to play a short campaign for 50-60 turns to get the feeling of the faction (no need for uploading or streaming it as it is much more tedious and time consuming). I just suggested that this argument that you use is not valid because the engine of the game is such that the moment you border another faction a lot of things change. The rating could still be a 1, but 1 is reserved for evil khand, mordor, high elves, good ered luin maybe some others too while 5 is for good khand, evil ered luin, maybe DA and ND the rest should fall in the middle usually. @Jamaly above made a very good comment which i agree to a 100% and shows that he too has played Rhun recently those things he mentions are legit.

    • @commissarchloe8396
      @commissarchloe8396 4 года назад +1

      I agree Rhun is quite difficult, and I religiously play as enedwaith and I defeat Dunland and completely cripple Isengard before the barracks event kicks in. As Rhun at turn 80 I believe ive only just managed to take the first three dorwinion provinces and the castle on the northern beach of the sea. Dale completely bum rushed me with a full stack and the economy at the beginning is just terrible. Once you've started making decent money and it finally becomes the doddle you have described but the early game can be extremely brutal.

    Just going to say, Rhun may be a 1 normally, but I really feel like it spikes up to around a 3 or 4 minimum if Khand goes with the Blue Wizards. After that, not only did I suddenly have to worry about that border being filled with Dwarves w/ Horse Archers, Erebor and Dale started picking at my borders, Mordor was broken by Gondor because their backline was devastated by Khand, Harad got crippled as well, and I still had Dorwinion to deal with. Rohan has been patrolling the borders too. I was left single handedly trying to fight everyone in the West, plus Gondor.

Which makes sense as that's one of the few times when you could reasonably expect to get something set up for lighting that number of arrows. Hello Arachir, I was was wanting to jump back into DaC but overall I seem to have one and only one problem with it, as I remember.
    I want there to be brutal difficulty, against the odds invasions, really large battles and challenging economy management. I want to face overwhelming stacks of the enemy and fight on the very brink of annihilation. Can I find that in DaC lategame? I always seemed to stop playing at some point thinking my expectations in that regard would not be met.
    Playing with the Dunedain, I always found I could annihilate anything with my rangers quite easily, but then again I never got far enough.
    Otherwise this is a stunning work of art that brings to life Middle Earth on the campaign map. I had always appreciated it deeply.
    Can somebody reassure me or let me in on how the lategame is? Thank you.

    Anyone else having a really hard time playing Rhun? I keep finding myself stretched too thin to defend anything properly with Dale, Erebor, and Dorwinion pushing my north and western flanks, and Khand sending stacks from the south. How are you supposed to defend against that? None of them will even bother with diplomacy no matter what I offer them either.
    Maybe I'm just super unlucky, but 9/10 of my playthrough attempts as Rhun, Khand sides with good and sends doomstacks straight up to me. Dale builds up 2 stacks right on my border to the north and attacks the same turn that Dorwinion does, and Erebor keeps sending units throughout all of this. Dale, Dorwinion, and Erebor tend to not have any other enemies other than me so it's just a constant barrage of fullstacks destroying everything I have.

      I may be too late, but it's simply due to the fact that a self replenishing heavy cav unit is insanely strong, especially early on and it's easy to exploit it to make your campaign battles very easy. There's a few cav generals left in the mod, namely Dol Amroth and Rohan, and even though their units are insanely small (10-20 men) they are insanely good still.
      Tl;dr Auto replenishing heavy cav is too good in the hands of the player

    Hi Galu! If you’ve got a moment, I would love to know something about the statistics used in DAC. Does it use the same system as original TATW? Taking the Snaga Stalkers as an example, in TATW they have a defence of 5, but in DAC it is only 2. At the other end of the spectrum, in TATW the strongest unit is the Guards of Khazad-Dum, with a defence of 26, whereas in DAC, an elite unit such as the Smiths of Eregion have a defence of 42. Does this mean that in DAC, the worst units are worse and the best units are better? Or is it a different system, where a 5 in TATW equates to a 2 in DAC?
    Not a very important question, but still it’s been bugging me for ages 😂
    Also, sorry if I’ve used too many commas.

    U just giving every faction 1 or 2 in difficulty. MedTW-2 is generally not hard I agree but D&C is not easy at all, you have increased the difficulty. So when you play VH/VH(which mostly we do); Rhun is not "1" in difficulty. I think difficulty needs to be ranged from 1to5 relative to faction in the game. Otherwise many faction is only "1" and there is no "5". IMHO only Ered Luin and Khan is "1" in difficulty and Dol Amroth is "5" for example.

    • @jamaly77
      @jamaly77 4 года назад +1

      @Jeffrey Epstein My friend (who plays at a medium level I'd say) couldn't take Lest with his starting forces combined and he couldn't take Elgaer or Mattaram when he split his starting forces. Garrisons are too strong and the towers are deadly. Of course he could do it when starving them out but you do not have that time with Rhun now.
      So yeah, the starting army is costly but still not good enough. To make this a 1 difficulty, the Kings Purse of Rhun would have to be tripled so you could recruit enough additional forces and/or build up some economy without losing 2,5-3k a turn.

    8:30. I know why! It's old code from Rome 1 total war. See, in Rome 1 the building was available only to Parthia and Armenia. These were both naturally poor nations (no sea trade, and only tier 1 roads, and few/poor resources in their territory). However they were the far east factions, the maps last stop on the silk road to India/china. So the unique buildings were to represent them pulling in these rare valuable resources.

    • @jamaly77
      @jamaly77 4 года назад +1

      I think you should play the current version first. No mention of Dale, really? They are the main enemy now, not Dorwinion. Imo anyway. I was actually amazed by how much more difficult it is now since I've played Rhun multiple times in every version of the mod and it has always been a doddle and now it is at least mildly challenging for a veteran (mainly talking about the start).
      I assume here that you do not use LegendofTotalWar levels of cheese like the sally-out exploit to rush Dorwinion and facilitate taking rebel settlements, cause then it would be pointless to discuss the difficulty anyway.
      You can always spice up your campaigns by declaring war on everyone at the barracks event or even earlier, that's what I usually do, cause it is damn good fun and why the hell not. No script needed. A very good player will never be challenged when you only fight 1 or even 2 opponents in this game. Since this mod is basically good vs evil and you're joining either side, you can easily tip the balance in favour of your side and just chill towards the victory. However, my less skilled friends will probably stop playing this mod if they make it any harder cause they often end up in similar situations like Galu in his Dol Amroth campaign.

      @@jamaly77 I found the early game of rhun to be tiring in DACv4 because you take at least 50 turns to unite the damn clans and while Dorwinion and Dale start with much more settlements. Fortunately Mordor was there to help me and past the unification of clans it was quite easy.
      I played with the Ar Adunaim in the new versions and Dale bodied both Dol Guldur and Rhûn it was crazy, Mordor never helped those factions and even got crushed by Gondor because they were not helped by Harad or me (I attacked Harad) while Khand chose the good side.
      I am not the super veteran player and I don't do cheese tactics either, should I nerf the royal purse of Dale or just buff Dol Guldur and Gundabad ?
      I feel that no matter what you do to help the bad factions they always get swarmed by the good factions, they have too many ennemies except for Isengard, Harad and Ar-Adunaim.

  • @kosake5493
    @kosake5493 4 года назад

    What I really don't like about some of your faction overviews is that you tend to speculate what the enemy Ai does or how difficult the faction is even though you clearly never played that faction. First of all Rhun is nowhere near a 1 in difficulty. It may have been before but now it is more of a 4. Having to conquer all of your lands from rebels with hugh garrisons takes dozens of turns and will put you in massive debt. You have to beat Mordor, Dale and Dorwinion to it since they will grab those regions if you are not quick enough. Dorwinion and Dale will relativly quickly move huge stacks through your lands while you are still trying to conquer your regions and pay your debt back to able to actually build/train anything. And Erebor will also attack you really early. It will take up to 50 turns to reach a somewhat stable position from where you start building up your economy. Imo that reunification script is super annoying. Having to spend a couple of hours racing with the AI to capture your settlements while praying that they won't attack in the first 40 turns or you will have to start over.
