    This is a good way of mimicking roots dub fx. Just slide the send bus on and off when you want certain portions of the sound to echo or plate reverb

    AUM would be considered as the first initiator of the next phase of Musical Renaissance! People still are not aware of the storm that is silently approaching!
    The Fire Rises!
    Jacobo dear is the one untainted soul, whatever the experiences he went through haven’t been able to break his Spiritual Awakening! I connect to the aura!

    Only FX sound is called "wet", as in the normal signal being "dry" and the amount of "wetness" is applied using the mix knob on any FX unit. So 100% mix is 100% wet.
    Cool video man, I've never really thought of using pads and mobile devices like you do.. but I haven't really dived into it before either since I've been HW sequencer and then DAW. I guess these devices are just as powerful these days when used properly. :D

    I’ve also never actually noticed the available bus in the fx section. Thank you for the tip!

    Jakob, I dig your humility. Much more impressed with AUM after seeing this update.

    The BUS SENDS can also be set to "PRE-fader" or "POST-fader", by long-pressing on the BUS icon. Seems like AUM defaults to PRE-fader, but there might be situations where you want a track's FX send level to be relative to the track's volume (POST-fader). And another option for switching among FX is simply keeping a few FX loaded on the same BUS channel, and activating/deactivating them by sliding their icons to the left, to take them out of the signal chain. That gives you the option of using any or all of the FX in the chain simultaneously (in series), change their order, etc. AUM is just incredible! Also, a word of caution about sending FX busses to other FX busses: it's easy to accidentally send a bus to its own input - which would cause a feedback loop. Conveniently, AUM alerts you to any feedback-causing routing by showing a dashed white outline around the icon of the bus send that's causing the feedback loop.

      Your comment here is almost verbatim what I was going to write… You can also re-order the fx slots by pressing on them and sliding to the right and then where ever you want it on the chain.

    • @joefry22
      @joefry22 3 года назад

      @@chitlun And the bypassing of FX slots can all be automated too - with a CC, Note, or Program Change (like just about everything else in AUM). For example, I set up Rozeta LFO with a tempo-synced square wave, routed it to the mixer channel with the FX slot I wanna bypass, used the LEARN function under the FX's BYPASS parameter while the LFO was running, and now I'm watching the FX slot sliding back-and-forth on its own, bypassing and activating in sync with the tempo. So cool, so easy.

    Tbh, I was completely dumbfounded by your original AUM bus set-up vid. I thought for a moment that I was missing a trick 😉 Good to see you correcting it to the way I’ve always done it 👍🏽

    • @JakobHaq
      @JakobHaq  5 лет назад

      I’m not sure if you mean the FX Send one that I corrected or if you mean the one about down mix and recording? This video is a correction of my original FX send video that I put up a day before this one. I’m not correcting the Down mix and recording one because when it comes to that type of work I still port all my channels directly from the output to a down mix bus. I find it to be a better workflow for me to do it like that. Especially now after I realised that the FX slots can send audio to busses too.

    No worries Jakob...I usually mix the way you showed in the first video in AUM. I like this option too tho. I usually mix this way in Ableton. Great job! Thanks!

    A Very helpful video, thx so much! Great tip at the end, sending effects send to effects send; allowing transformation of a basic reverb to otherworldy. Endless creativity.

    You always make me smile and are always amusing, even when you occasionally fumble. Actually this is a great way to reinforce the procedures, by contrasting the less efficient method with this amended recommended method. It is the kind of thing that so many people can easily overlook, ie: honing in on the menu item at the bottom of the list ... so easy to miss when there are so many option choices tucked away in not-so-obvious menus.

    If you allow me to contribute to your awesome instructional video, You can prevent the sound of the source app from continuing to sound on the send channel when you raise or lower the channel fader of the source app on the main channel. You can do this by going to the main channel where the source app is placed, then on the effect section where you have already learned how to place a send, you just have to keep the send effect pressed and the “post” or “pre” option will appear, you just have to touch the “post” option and voilà. Now you can control the level of all your send channels including the main one using only the main channel fader where you have placed the source app.

    Just after I saved my first song in months that foe the first time integrated iOS sequencers and iOS effects in my eurorack setup ... and I had that short noise when adding a plugin ... half a day too late for that song but super good to finally understand send effects in general. Thanks!

    Another thing about AUM, isn’t it suppose to be able to save states of AUs? I’m not finding that to be the case. For example a current project has a bunch of Iceworks synths and Stepbuds, also KB-1, all AUs, every time I open it I need to reset the presets, for the KB-1 and the synths. Is this something I’m doing wrong? Or is it a problem with AUM, or with those particular apps? It seems to happen a lot.

    HELLO!!!! Please, tell me how to make automation happen in a certain plugin while I play TS-11, I really need faders in Koala FX to make a move without my intervention while playing TS-11, is it possible to do this without a midi controller ? It seems that the output, apparently, is the connection of the kaos mini pad 2s, but I really want to do without it.

    Ok this gives me a thought... is there any advantage to adding fx pre recording, like in this video, rather than adding them post in cubasis

    • @marcusmurky5876
      @marcusmurky5876 5 лет назад

      Personally, adding fx to sculpt sounds is part of the creation and changes the music I make. It’s a part of the sound.. You wouldn’t tell a guitarist to record their parts dry, and then add in their pedals later, right? The way the pedals change the sound changes how they play.

    • @JakobHaq
      @JakobHaq  5 лет назад

      I agree with Marcus here for the most part. However I’ve many times in the past had people playing instrument that I record where I’ll do double recordings. One for me and one for the band/artist. The one for me I’ve recorded dry so that I can do what I want with it later. It all depends on what you’re looking for in a sound. When I produce music I’ll many times turn of the fx in a Synth only to add other fx inside my DAW (Cubasis). But when I do live-stuff I always use fx.

  • @GavinskisTutorials
    @GavinskisTutorials 5 лет назад

    By the way, is there no way to add some kind of swing directly in AUM? That will adjust swing of all rhythmic elements in a particular project?

    • @JakobHaq
      @JakobHaq  5 лет назад +1

      No, but it would be pretty nice to have something like it.

    • @GavinskisTutorials
      @GavinskisTutorials 5 лет назад

      @@JakobHaq certainly would, its unfortunate that many otherwise excellent apps leave out a swing control (Fugue Machine being just the most recent one to frustrate me crazy on this issue). If there was some kind of master swing control it would solve a lot of these problems.

    • @JakobHaq
      @JakobHaq  5 лет назад

      I have a hard time continue using any type of app that sequencing if it lacks swing/shuffle control, so I completely understand.

    • @GavinskisTutorials
      @GavinskisTutorials 5 лет назад

      Jakob Haq well, guess what, it seems that anything routed through that new app Cality can have swing added to it in Cality, whether or not any extra notes are added by Cality itself. Cality is an AU, so that’s incredibly useful, now any sequencer without swing can have a swing effect. Sweet as hell!

  • @davetrombetti4240

    FX is short for effects so the signal with FX on it is the effected signal. Also, if you place an effect in the signal its placing an effect as opposed to placing an effects. I watched both videos and if both work why not keep both up? Someone might find it useful. You never know.

    • @JakobHaq

    I'm pretty sure people come to watch this video to learn about the topic. You can save time by avoiding dumb introductions. Also, you kept taking about your previous mistake and repeated it, something that nobody cares specially people who didn't watch it. You should make concise videos going straight to the point, specially if you're going to fill them with commercials.

    • @JakobHaq

      This vid is a bit special ... make sure you check my other ones before you judge my content and my ability to make videos.
      Also if you don’t like the intros then I’m sorry, I won’t be changing that. There’s a big collection of links in the description to other iOS music content creators. I’m sure you’ll find someone who’s content you’ll enjoy. 👍🏼
