The most beautifully styled interior of the 60's and perhaps of all time which included using actual wood does not make the Top Ten. No mention of the John Delorean designed cockpit of the '69 Grand Prix either. Silly vid.
I would add the '65 Pontiac Bonneville/Grand Prix to this list - beautiful "stacked headlight" car with a drop-dead gorgeous dash that had real wood. This vividly illustrates how far we've fallen - the '50's-'70's and maybe early '80's was "peak" for the US auto industry IMO, and I'm so thankful I was there to experience it.
Every countries' car makers need to watch this. My wife just bought a new Subaru. The interior is all black. Everything black. It's like having no flashlight and going into a cave at night with no lights and no moonlight. Did I say it's black in there?
Others mentioned a few of my favorites, the 65 Riviera, 64-66 Thunderbird, and the 66 and up Toronado. I'll add the 66-67 Charger with the console that ran all the way back between the rear seats as well. (And the back seats folded down individually.) I'll also add the 68-69 Javelin and AMX. The tunneled instruments and the first padded A pillars are two of the cool features. The 63-64 Studebaker Avanti also had a gorgeous dash and interior, you could easily do a part two!
While there are a number of good selections here, I personally prefer the 1960 Chrysler 300F interior to that of the 300L. The 300F was one of the first cars with a four bucket seat layout separated by a full length front to rear console. The 300F’s included Astrodome instrument cluster and swivel seats may seem flamboyant now, but the overall concept made a statement that influenced interior design for years to come. I’d also definitely include the ‘65 Buick Riviera in my short list for best 60’s interiors, along with the 1963 Pontiac Grand Prix and 1965 Pontiac 2+2. Thanks for sharing!
One of the first houses on my paper route as a kid, had a 66 Toronado in the driveway. Metallic gun metal grey. Sweet car. His son had a 70 Chevelle SS 396 with a 4 speed. Red black stripes. Beautiful car.
The most distinctive thing about the Bullet Bird interior was the brush metal panel that crossed the entire dashboard and curved around across the doors through to the rear cabin. ❤❤
A lot of great interiors in this video. I had a 1963 Mercury Marauder S-55 that was red with a white interior. It was a fabulous interior. I have a great photo but I guess you can't post it in RUclips comments.
Of all the 60s T Birds… we had a 1966 with curved rear seats and an overhead aircraft switch panel. The speedometer was an ever elongated red line moving from left to right across the dashboard. In the early 70s, all the girls wanted to ride with me in the T-bird on Friday nights after the game and dance etc… it also hauled ass for a heavy luxury car, with a huge 429 ci engine.
Hi from Finland. I’ve always loved 60’s American car dashboards. I prefer the #8 which has extra store for sunglasses or similar. And what I desperately want, is RED color which makes everything look sexy and beautiful.
I'd agree with all of your conclusions, but there needs to be inclusion of the 1967 Thunderbird interior, especially the remarkable dash. That has never been topped before or since.
This is aclip I needed. I watch a lot of car videos on utube and I hate the electronic redtomods people have been doing to these classics. The ole school is soooo much better.
Hey EVERY Automaker on planet Earth, Have you noticed that None of these vehicles came standard with GLOOMY GREY or DEATH BLACK interior color that YOU’VE been Shoving down Everyone’s Throats since 1990 ? Isn’t it about time that YOU bring back other colors?
I would like the 63 Buick Riviera on the list, also Studebaker GT and Avanti, 67 Eldorado also great! && grand Prix Pontiac.. The ten best is a battle. Easier today...what black synthetic cloth and aluminum strips and small screens do you despise the least?
I agree with all the dash designs featured in this video. I have always been impressed with the 59 and 60 Chevy Impala dash, looking smooth, sculptured and organized. To change the subject, I've never understood why the windshield wipers on the 63-66 lincoln continental are, what I would considered, "reversed" from the operation of all other american vehicles ??? Appreciated the cars of the 60,and 70's. Today--------------cars all look the same. A big disappointment.
Hey, what about the Chrysler "Letter Cars" from 1960 to 1962 with electroluminescent "Astra Dome" "horizon" instrument cluster, 150 mph speedometer, translucent steering wheel (that reflects the light given off by the dash lights) 4 bucket seats,(also swivel seats for front passengers') full-length console! ..??? all power windows (in console, not on doors) any Chrysler cars from 1960 to '62 with electroluminescent or "panelescent" dash lighting be it 300, New Yorkers, Saratoga, Windsor, Newport, Any Imperial from 1960 to '63. also, the first-generation Dodge Chargers 1966-'67 electroluminescent dash lighting. (I do own a '61 Chrysler Newport coupe and a '62 Chrysler 300 (non-letter car) coupe) both with the Astra Dome) ...and if you ever decide to cover the car interiors from the 1950s, the 1955 Dodge Le Femme would an honorable mention, (for the ladies) (find the cars here on RUclips)
How sad that this is what car interiors looked like decades ago and today (even in luxury cars) the interiors have so little "design" to them and are loaded with hard plastics, imitation aluminum, etc.
What is so sad is how bad current “instrument panels” are in the 2024 cars. We stare at an iPad-ish screen literally stuck on the dash. Or worse, the Tesla dash that is nothing BUT a computer screen, and an interior that is just, well, awful. There are a few exceptions in the luxury market as to overall interior design, but that screen stuck on the dash is even there on those cars. The newest BMW 2 series cars have a horizontal screen that even has a support holding it upright. Perhaps the designer likes the buttresses at Notre Dame so thought it would be clever to add one to the car. Ugh!
These interiors are particularly poignant when compared to the bland and unimaginative interiors of today with their massive fugly digital displays that make the dash look more like a video game arcade.
Personnally, I would pick the 1959 Pontiac Bonneville dash. Absolutely stunning ! After that ? A 2015 Mercedes Benz S-Class. Beautifully designed. Better than even the newer ones.
What do you think was the best-looking car interior of the 60s?
64-66 Thunderbird
1965 Buick Rivera
1965 300 L + C2 corvette
@@pd07 number 8 the buick
61 Pontiac Catalina in the dark with lights on WOW!. I miss that car!.
Y'all missed the 65 Riviera.
I own a 64 Riv and was thinking the same thing.
Yes, with the wood-inlaid dash, doors and console, it was a pleasure to see. I owned one, but the rust monster got her. :(
The most beautifully styled interior of the 60's and perhaps of all time which included using actual wood does not make the Top Ten. No mention of the John Delorean designed cockpit of the '69 Grand Prix either. Silly vid.
@@MarkRoberts-bj2me to be fair, the 69 Grand Prix wasn’t really an interior as much as a cockpit. But I wholeheartedly agree with you.

The '65 Grand Prix had the best center console.
US car makers need to watch this video.

One masterpiece after another. All beautiful.

I would also nominate the wrap-around pleated rear seat on the 1965 Ford Thunderbird. It made the car feel like a luxurious lounge!
GREAT video! Thanks for posting.
How about the '60 Chrysler "Astra-Dome"? Hypnotizing!
I had a 62 T-Bird. Beautiful interior.
Great content my brother!!!~
How about the 1966 Oldsmobile Toranado? It was revolutionary.
One of the first houses on my paper route as a kid, had a 66 Toronado in the driveway. Metallic gun metal grey. Sweet car. His son had a 70 Chevelle SS 396 with a 4 speed. Red black stripes. Beautiful car.
61 buick full size with that 3d mirror speedo and console radio was so cool.
The most distinctive thing about the Bullet Bird interior was the brush metal panel that crossed the entire dashboard and curved around across the doors through to the rear cabin. ❤❤
I would say you forgot the 1966 thunderbird. My mother had on and it was amazing.
You are off a few model years on the T-Bird, the 64-65 & 66 were peak car interior years although the one you have here is not too bad.
A lot of great interiors in this video. I had a 1963 Mercury Marauder S-55 that was red with a white interior. It was a fabulous interior. I have a great photo but I guess you can't post it in RUclips comments.
All great choices. I'd add the 1962 Chrysler.
We've conceived all our children in the back seat of an Impala. Sade' "smooth" ovulater was on the cassette player.

Pontiac Bonnevilles from the early '60s had transparent steering wheels imbedded with sparkly metal flakes.

1 magazine called the 67 tbird interior the best interior of any tbirds
Can't disagree with any of these.
This is aclip I needed. I watch a lot of car videos on utube and I hate the electronic redtomods people have been doing to these classics. The ole school is soooo much better.
The 60 Impala had the same dash and steering wheel as the 59.
What about the 62 rambler classic?...so simple yet so beautiful..lol
No, no! The Rambler American. We had one, a shoe box on wheels.
Great, now do one on the cars from the mid-sixties since you didn't mention them here.
'66 Dodge Charger R/T(with it's wonderfully thought out fold down rear seat and electro-luminescent gauges)
'65 Riviera Gran Stage

Why oh why can't car makers make interior like these anymore from colors to material
Can't believe no one mentioned the 66 GTO, what the ...?

The '65 Riviera.
Is there a reason why the rest ends of the vehicles were hardly shown? Is it because so many videos like this do that? IT'S A SHAME!
+111 like. 😎😎merci.

The Thunderbird was and still is a beautiful interior. The rest are good but look dated. The Thunderbird interior still looks show car.

At 5:18 the interior is that of a 1966 Lincoln Continental, not a 1961-63 car. Lack of attention to detail.
These interiors are particularly poignant when compared to the bland and unimaginative interiors of today with their massive fugly digital displays that make the dash look more like a video game arcade.
#8 Buick Electra. That picture can't be accurate. No way those wheels and tires are from that era.
Really? Go back to the 1960 and 1961 Chrysler with the Astrodome instrument panel.
The cheap plastic that's available today is our own fault!
We put up with poor replacements!
of course the metal and chrome would kill you in a car wreck but so what?
1961/62 Fury and sister Dodges were turdmobiles!
All these videos are created by bots and have no human input and the text is so cheap and cheesy.
