Great series btw! Just got a second rabbit and we'll start the bonding process right after the one month healing period! Wish me luck!
@@thequeerbee2026 thank you for your answer! Unfortunately, I've already found that out the hard way. Both of my bunnies are fine but my female rabbit is such a bully that my male is terrified of her. She keeps trying to bite him even through the wire, and for the first few days of them living side by side, she was constantly grunting/growling whenever the other bunny approached her. I know it's only been a week but I feel quite hopeless that they will ever be able to live peacefully together. Anyway, what would be the signs to look out for that they are ready to try bonding them again?
@@eszterwaczel1331I feel like you’re literally describing mine. My girl bunny is SO sweet to me and yet absolutely nasty to the boy- she growls, bites, attacks him, etc. It’s gonna take awhile I think
I recently lost one of my bunnies and they were in a bonded pair with my other bunny muffin. I have another bonded pair Raisin and Bamboo. I then bonded Muffin, Raisin and Bamboo together and on the second day of bonding they were all grooming each other. I was shocked that it didn’t take long at all for them to like each other.
As a bunny mother, I have to say that after we adopted a male to live with my two females it was a though process at the beginning and they didn't liked him at all, but as we made them approach slowly to each other they eventually went to accept the new presence until the day that both females started to play with him. And in the end he was able to mate with both of them and live together as they are now.
I'm getting in to Month Four of trying to bond my rabbits. My group of two are totally in to being part of a fluffle. My group of three has a different opinion -- one could care less, another isn't so sure, and the last is out for blood. *le sigh*
This video couldn't have came at a better time. Im getting 3 of my 4 fixed this coming Thursday, the 4th is only 3 months old, and plan on bonding them so I can have them all free roam in a bedroom. They all know each other because the have floor time and they are in 3 cnc grid cages. They lay by each others cages when they are out. 2 male and 2 female. The 2 females is mom and daughter and in same enclosure. Any tips you can give me would be appreciated. Thanks. I love your videos. I recommend them to everyone ❤
Our rabbits are very familiar with each other's scents, after sharing a common play space for several weeks, and occasionally swapping cages. In their first few meetings (some accidental), there was no humping, biting, or fighting, and only minimal territorial pooping. However the male immediately targeted the female's eyes: a few licks followed by nips at her eyes. She cowers and closes her eyes. But she is definitely interested in him, because she visits his cage and tries to chew into it. Any suggestions? Do I just monitor and hope the "grooming" becomes less dangerous over time? Or is there something I can do to discourage this behaviour (e.g. spray bottle)?
Hey. I switched litter boxes and put the buns in each others rooms. They both loved it. Thumper loves the window sill and the extra room. But I put them back. Idk if I should switch them for good. Thumper has her huge yard enclosure and her tunnels etc. Bambi likes those things too. Idk what to do.
Hey! I would love to see a video on why pellet free diets are the best. i would really like to change his diet but i'm kinda scared to be honest. My mom also is scared that my bunnies will become malnourished.
The main reasons are that pellets, even if you find one without fillers, soy, wheat and that bad stuff, swell up in a rabbits stomach causing their gi tract to slow down and not doing well in combination with veggies (necessary) that are supposed to be digested faster. Another important reason is that they cause dental disease. Rabbits jaws and back teeth were build to grind the food between their teeth. So a left right motion. Pellets and anything that's hard such as rooty veggies or processed treats need to be chewed and cracked. So an up down motion which their jaw and teeth anatomy isn't made for. This motion results in their roots to be destroyed. A result of it can be retrograde growing, infected roots, teeth breaking through the jaw bone, abscesses and other horrible things. One of my bunnies has all of the above and believe me you don't want to experience it. The exotic vets and experts in my country already advice against pellets for many years now and there is no issue with them missing out nutrients. In fact pellets were invented during the war when rabbits needed to put on weight as quick as possible to be slaughtered. They had neither a benefit to their health in mind nor were they thinking of possible after effects since the rabbits were all slaughtered at a young age and the people didn't care
@@nameless.8056 No problem :) You can also do a little experiment: Just put a pellet into some warm water and see how it will extend. Some will take up to an hour+ till they will start to fall apart and this will happen in a rabbits stomach
I have a video all about rabbit diets I uploaded last summer. It talks all about why I don’t feed pellets and how to make sure your rabbits have all the nutrients
I’m starting to bond two bunnies now and I’m getting mixed signals from the one. Good and bad signs. Haha so confusing. But The other is completely fine with the other one.
I have been struggling with bonding my bunnies. I have been trying for a year. My main issue is my male rabbit will give a bath to my female bunny, then he will shove his head under her probably cause he wants her to groom him. She does not groom him though and would usually shove his face away and put her head under again. He then will sniff at her butt and nip her. After this happens he chases her. She hyperventilates, fur flies everywhere. They will growl at each other. This only happens if we let him get to her butt. We have stopped letting him do that but that means the bonding sessions do not evolve and stay the same and it feels like they will never be able to be unsupervised together. The only improvement is that they can be friendly if there is a gate seperating them. He use to try biting her through the bars, now he doesn't do that.
I have a six year old male rabbit that my neighbor surrendered to me about a year ago. He is not neutered and I was just wondering if it’s too late to do that and if it’s too late to bond him because of that. Thanks so much! I’ve ben subscribed for a few years not and LOVE your channel
Thank you so much for making this I got two rabbits when I was 7 and a couple of months ago one of them died I think it was gi and then I started to learn about rabbits I got a baby rabbit three months ago and I’m going to be bonding them in a couple months when I get them spayed
But wait I have a 2, almost 3 year old fixed bunny girl who we have had for about 2 years. Just got a baby bunny girl who is not fixed cause she isn't old enough yet.. Do I need to keep them separate for a few month then after the surgery bond them? Or can I bond them now?
My bunnies all groom each other on their real dates. If you know what I mean. My buck Blue always cuddles and grooms the females after doing his job. Also, I have a bonded trio of unfixed female rabbits. They are super close, grooming each other all the time.
How do bunnies get the humping out of the system? I am bonding my bunnies right now and they are doing really great but during the night one of them hump the other and trying to get its attention even while the other is sleeping. The first day it was every 3 minutes now it is only during the night so it has been better. It is day 6 now.
I have recently just got two 10 week old males from the same litter; they were humping straight away when they go home. So I’ve separated them, booked them in to get neutered in two weeks and then I’ll re-introduce them a few weeks after that! They cuddled in the car ride home and led down back to back, so I’m confident it’ll work out once they are neutered! If anyone else has bonded same litter pairs and has any positive stories or advice, please help!
I’m about to get ready to bond my bunny with a nee bunny ad I’m hoping to goes well. His wife bun passed away 7 months ago from e cuniculi, they were grooming and sitting with each other within 6 hours and were inseparable ever since. I waited so long to get another bun because 1. He was heartbroken and needed time to recover from the loss of his wife bun and 2. It’s extremely hard to find adult females in my state and the state next to me. I drove 5 1/2 hours away to get my boy and 3 1/2 to get his wife bun. Thankfully this time I got very lucky and found one only 30 minutes away with a family who just didn’t know how much work it would be
im bonding mine right now actually, a female 2-3 month old french lop and small mix albino male, 2 year old. the baby is soo aggressive im so surprised! im trying to do the 24/h bonding, well see how it goes.
I have one neutered six-month-old bun and one that was introduced at two months. Things worked out for about a month, and then all hell broke loose when the baby buns' hormones started kicking in. There was blood drawn and I've separated them, however, the younger buck has escaped and fought several times. Now he's neutered and I'm waiting a month, but I'm worried the scars will be too deep in after his hormones die down. :(
Thank you so much for making this videos! I actually going to neuter my rabbit this month and I wanted to bond with my female one that is already spayed, but I have a question that maybe you could help me. My male rabbit went home with a very resistant respiratory infection (with "Enterobacter cloacae complex" bacteria). We treated him with a antibiotic for several weeks but I think it became chronic. My wishes always were to bond the two but now I'm really scared that my female rabbit can get sick too. Before I knew he was sick (5/6 months ago) I switched bathrooms, toys and blankets like some tutorials mentioned and she never had any symptoms. Can I have your opinion if I should bond them anyways or should I be concerned about my female rabbit get the infection? Thank you for the help.
i have to duo of a male and female bun (both are helped) and i want another bun to the group do i rather take another female or another male? and could i add a younger bun or rather one closer to their ages ?
My rescue bunny had 2 failed bonds and therefore I rescued her as a single house bunny. She has been spayed for over a year now and I have discussed bonding with the RSPCA where I got her from. They have said they will attempt to bond her again however she would have to go to them for potentially up to a week so I am going to wait until the lockdown is over and I would be able to see her when shes there hopefully. I dont want her to be too stressed by the experience because shes happy as a single bunny but I dont want her to become lonely at any point so do want to try and bond her again. How can make the situation less stressful for her?
I have a couple of points to bring up to the rabbit community during this pandemic time and also a question for you. Right now, a lot of rabbit shelters are closing up for awhile since they cannot do any sort of bunny dating or adoption stations at local pet shops. These shelters may need some donations and help to keep rescuing and helping all the bunnies that are in shelters. I faced this problem recently and was given the option to foster to adopt. Mostly all of the rabbit shelters around here (Northeastern Ohio) are basically closed up and appointment only for pick up only. No dating options available. HRS in LA had a webinar recently with a vet on board and they recommended to just wait a little bit before adopting right now since this is a big issue for shelters everywhere. OR be prepared to force a relationship that may not click quickly. Now here's my question for you, 101Rabbits. I adopted a new bunny about a month ago and had to bring her back to the shelter due to so many reasons. But the biggest reason was due to the stress on my resident bunny that actually accelerated a underlying physical disease which resulted in ER visits. He is doing a bit better now that he has FULL 24/7 care happening but this is something that may continue to be long-term health management. He has kidney disease and we are still trying to figure out whether this is acute (progressive) or chronic (and manageable). I wanted him to have a forever friend, but now I feel like he may not be a suitable candidate due to his condition. What do you think? Do geriatric bunnies make good bonding mates as long as their symptoms are managed? Or do you think he should remain independent?
Ik people who work with rescues and they always bond their rabbits no matter their age or condition, but I'd recommend going through it with a good exotic vet,
@@thequeerbee2026 Yes, I heard this too... Like bunnies with paralysis or head tilt. I plan on talking with my vet after his next blood test and urinalysis results but just wanted to hear if she heard of anything like this before. I appreciate your comment as it does comfort me that it IS possible, but just may take an expert to do so...
Honestly, you sound like a wonderful owner and I think your bun is fine with just you! I want to list a rabbit rescue as beneficiary on some stocks I inherited. Is there one you would recommend??
Thanks for this helpful video. I have a one year old male rabbit who is free roam with a big enclosure where he likes to sleep in and I want to adopt a female rabbit in the pet shop I work at because I have bonded with her but she is not spayed (which I plan to do if I adopt her) and she is approximately 4 years old. I’m very nervous and not quite sure on how to go about it. My rabbit is very docile and sweet. I am not sure how he will react and of course I don’t want him hurt. Any advice for me ?
How would I rebond 3 female bunnies? They were all good in their cage from about 3 months old before they hit 6 months and they started hormonal fighting and being very territorial. They have been spayed for over 2 months now. Should I be doing the bonding process for each pair separately or can I do all 3 together at once? 2 of them are sisters and 1 not.
Hi, I have a question and I have two bonded brothers that are neutered and 1 year old. I am considering a girl but in Puerto Rico there are no bunny rescue places so the only choice I have is to purchase a baby female bunny. However I am scared of what I should do as far as bonding her with my bonded pair, one because she will be only about a month or two old and secondly because she cant be spayed until she's at least five months. What can you recommend?
I’m thinking about getting two bunnies and I want them to be bonded. A couple things I’m worried about is that they’ll be babies when I get them and I know they should be spayed/neutered before starting the process, so before then will I have to keep them separated? I know I male and female pairing and that spaying/neutering will help with surprise baby buns, do yo recommend I keep them separate until they can be fixed?

I’m excited for your next video because I recently got a second rabbit and I want to learn more!
TYSM ive been trying to convince my parents for another bunny bc i have one rn and this was sooooooooooooo helpful!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am gonna bond 2 rabbits! Thankyou so much this helped me allot
Cant wait to try and bond my rabbits after they all get fixed. Thanks for the video!
You are sooo awesome! With your story and the fact you work so hard inspires me thank you!
My bunny’s are sitting in the bathtub while watching this video!❤️💜
Advice needed!
Do you recommend getting the rabbits acquainted by smell/sight first (through swapping toys or putting them in side by side enclosures) or should they meet the first time ever in the carrier?
Great series btw! Just got a second rabbit and we'll start the bonding process right after the one month healing period! Wish me luck!
Never start in a carrier. Swapping things is a great thing to start with as well as living side by side in a large enclosure like a dog xl pen
You have helped us so much.
Thank you rabbit101. 🐇❤️
Thank you for this video!
Since when is your hair red?!? It looks amazing! This video was very helpful!! Thanks 🙏
This is such a helpful vid 🤩🥰
Red is honeslty your colour!!❤🔥
She's gorgeous with any hair color! I'd love to see blue
They all live together now.
@@okay.8088 Yay 😁
Love your videos! Keep up the great work!
As a bunny mother, I have to say that after we adopted a male to live with my two females it was a though process at the beginning and they didn't liked him at all, but as we made them approach slowly to each other they eventually went to accept the new presence until the day that both females started to play with him. And in the end he was able to mate with both of them and live together as they are now.
we've had zero luck with this same scenario.
It sounds like you have a happy animal kingdom! I bet all continues peacefully
Hope so. Lol
Idk what to do.
yay finally one of the first people watching
so nicely explained:)
Super video, it helped me soo much!🤗🐇🐾

@@followmeandmydaay thank you so much!!!!!!!!!
@@nameless.8056 No problem :)
You can also do a little experiment: Just put a pellet into some warm water and see how it will extend. Some will take up to an hour+ till they will start to fall apart and this will happen in a rabbits stomach
I have a video all about rabbit diets I uploaded last summer. It talks all about why I don’t feed pellets and how to make sure your rabbits have all the nutrients
@@101rabbits i will check it out!

I’m starting to bond two bunnies now and I’m getting mixed signals from the one. Good and bad signs. Haha so confusing. But The other is completely fine with the other one.

I've had 2 bunnies male and female bunnies but I don't know if they were spayed or neutered and surprisingly both of them lived in a cage for 6 months
Love your hair
Love your hair btw
I have a six year old male rabbit that my neighbor surrendered to me about a year ago. He is not neutered and I was just wondering if it’s too late to do that and if it’s too late to bond him because of that. Thanks so much! I’ve ben subscribed for a few years not and LOVE your channel
Hi can u tell me what hay u use?
I’m in uk 🇬🇧 but hopefully I’ll be able to order something similar xx
I Will need this, i Will be speying my Bunny in month or 2 and i am thinking about getting onother Bunny
Will you do a video on bonding a 3rd bun?
If anyone else has bonded same litter pairs and has any positive stories or advice, please help!
so helpful.
Heyy!! Hope you're doing well, have an amazing day ✨
@willowww REALLY?! When I refreshed the page I saw several other comments that said "first" so I assumed they were indeed first.
@willowww well, YAY🎉 hehe thanks! Take care 🐾

Is there like a rewarding process for good behaviors?
HI! Love your videos . Do you think its a good idea to have play dates with a friend ‘s bunnies? or should I avoid that all together?
Nope That's really not a good idea
@@thequeerbee2026 I figured as much thank you!
So I have a little bunny he is already neutered but I want to rescue a bun but she isn't spayed would that be a problem?
Can I use the x pen my bunny lives in to bond or would they smell themselves and get territorial?
I need an answer to this as well got to baby girl bunnies one is 3 months the other is 1.5 months and i don’t know if I should keep them separate
I’m trying to convince my parents to get me another rabbit... this video came at a perfect time 😂
Edit: I officially have two rabbits now! I just got her yesterday! Im still deciding on names so please leave suggestions!!!!
lol same but my dad doesnt like animals and I dont have the money to get another and also i dont have enough money to get mine spayed :(
@@Mwahaha5713 I understand! The next rabbit you get should be a boy or neutered already, since it is almost a sure thing an unspayed female will get uterine cancer by age five
@@Mwahaha5713 adoption is really cheap,
@@thequeerbee2026 Not necessarily. My rabbit was $115 and I adopted her.
Hello!!! I am new to rabbits, I just rescued one. I am having trouble with him being very destructive (I know they like to chew) he has plenty of toys. I am struggling with litter training.
If the bunnies are from the same litter and grew up together, do you still have to take the steps of bonding after they get spayed?
Usually yes
Especially if they had to be separated before the op
Adding an extra Yes to that
There are no sure things with rabbits but we took our girls in to get spayed together, in the same carrier, and they went back into the same carrier following surgery, so basically never apart except during the surgery and they stayed friends
