Fun fact! Sif has a slightly different boss intro if you do the dlc before fighting him. Unfortunately that pretty much requires prior knowledge, since the dlc is rather complicated to access. Why is it different? I'm not going spoil that!
That's wild that they would make a slight difference to something like that based upon if you accessed a DLC first - that's cool. Thanks for the fun fact Kyle.
@4:40 as long as you aren't carrying a ton of soulS, it's always worth it to explore possibly dangerous paths. Just think about dying as a tool you can use to learn something and not something to be afraid of. Once you stop caring about dying, the game is truly unlocked for you.
"Once you stop caring about dying..."... oh man, this is going to be tough. I'll certain try to have this mindset more. This game keeps breaking my brain for RPGs...lol. I love it though.
I love how the description for the Crest of Artorias describe this forest perfectly "The door leads to the grave of Sir Artorias the Abysswalker. Many adventurers have left for the grave, but none have returned, for they make easy prey for local bandits." Just forgets to mention the guardian of the grave... Also 4:19 the "path" means you can hug the wall and it's safe to walk.
Glad you've met Sif! She's one of my favourite characters (and not only because the wolf is named after a Norse godess). I've got some tips: the Havel Ring, if you're not already using it in future episodes, is insanely good at giving you that extra speed and really fast dodges on top of letting you carry almost whichever set you find good-looking without impacting your load, so I'd totally be using it at this point in game. Secondly, after you've died and left a green pool with lots of souls behind, you can equip the Ring of Sacrifice (I think you still have one). If you die on your way to get the pile of souls, they will still remain there thanks to the ring! It will break after you come back, but you can buy more of those same rings from the Pardoner in the bell tower where you rang the first bell. When I have the rings, I always use this trick as a safety net to not be worried that I might die on the way to get my souls and lose them all. Good luck!
Thanks for the tips Spiderella, super helpful. Yeah, I finally start trying the Havel Ring (and some new armors) in the upcoming episodes. You're right, that ring is pretty awesome.
@@BenjamightGaming nice! Oh and that Giant wolf you fought, as far as i can tell from the dozens of dark souls Lore videos (damn you Ben! Now i have a new hyperfixation lol) She's got quite the sad story, so those messages does tell you that you're going to cry tears, but not the kind of tears you think would come out after fighting a hard boss
Not quite ready for Sif, she is a tough fight. Definitely speak to the weird cat in the forest ruins when you next go for Sif. She's in a window. She can help with the forest hunter problem if you want to open the shortcut door with the Crest. Don't forget about Blighttown lol
If one flask isnt enough to get you to full dont be afraid to chug 2 flasks if you press it twice then it saves the animation of pulling it out of your pocket a second time and just takes two chugs
Crestfallen Warrior: "Well, since you're here… Let me help you out. There are actually two Bells of Awakening. One's up above, in the Undead Church. The other is far, far below, in the ruins at the base of Blighttown. Ring them both, and something happens… Brilliant, right?" Just a reminder 😅
One reminder is that you're coming from this place backwards, so all the hints are coming at you the wrong way So you killed the hydra, then they warned you of a dragon. Then you kill the cats and they tell you to kill them one at a time. I know it's too late for this section, but keep the big picture in your head for the future
If you had chatted with the cat you could join the team of the forest hunters and grabbed your 22k+ souls with no issue. This game requires you to be mindful of your surroundings, to explore every option. Miyazaki designed this game to punish you for being single minded and combat hungry. And punish you he has.
In all fairness, hard to know which direction is the 'right' direction, when this game gives you NO DIRECTION...lol. Unless there is a locked gate, door, or cliff - it seems I'm free to run anywhere I want. Sometimes even locked doors can be circumvented...lol, but I feel like the only way one can have the big picture in mind, is if one has seen the whole picture. ;-)
Shields have separate ratings for damage reduction in physical, magic, fire, and lightning. There are several shields that have 100% physical damage reduction, and other shields that are good with fire, or good with magic but I don't think there are any shields that have 100% reduction for any of the elemental damages.
I find it really funny that you keep going back to the forest haha I know that it's because you wanted to kill the Hydra, but you literally descended through Blighttown, climbed from all the way back DOWN, and then went back to the forest again xD
lol - Hills & Valleys. ;-) Don't worry - we head back to Blighttown in the next episode, and we don't see the sun for a while... so savor the moment. :-)
Forgot to mention, when using fireball or something like a firebomb, the height of the camera matters. So if you want to hit something that's far, you can look up instead of locking on and your guy will aim further. Hopefully this was in ds1 but not 100%
Current death count : 87 Fighting humans is really different , it's almost like you are fighting other players the way they roll , try to backstab you , use spells and change weapon / shield stance . The title can apply to the wizard , heavy sword knight , axe guy and cat bear . But by the end you got rid of them . Sif has to be the saddest character in the whole game once you get to know her story . That is what the messages were referring to .
You're right, they really did act like players - that was kind of scary. I also had fun with this title, because I too felt like it applied to so many moments... it would keep people wondering which (if any) fights I survived. :-)
Not 100% sure but I think it's about 15% bonus per humanity. So at 7 and 14 humanity you will be getting 2x and 3x loot respectively. Loving the content, but was nervous to see people talking about sif, some people can't help but accidentally drop a spoiler, be careful in the comment section trenches!
Do you eventually see that little cute cat that appears on your right here? 57:11 Seeing her earlier would definitely make things easier :P But she has a cool mechanic that doesn't cost anything for you to try so I would suggest checking it out later! Only recommendation if you do decide to test it is to stay on the forest while you test it (you will understand once you do try it) But it's fine if you don't wanna test it as well, it has to do with online connectivity but like I said it doesn't cost your progress or anything!
I didn't notice it until someone pointed it out in the comments section... I'll be sure to return and check it out though. Appreciate the advice though for when I do, that's super helpful.
the tunnel vision seems to be still strong and going... you missed an npc that will make those transparent humans neutral to you. You walked past her like at least 4 times
Seriously? Are you pulling my leg? I mean, I'm definitely known for having tunnel vision at times, but to walk about an NPC standing in front of me 4 times is crazy...lol.
Oooooh...lol. Yeah, that cat totally blended in with the wall to me, not to mention I was hyper-focused on those targets in front of me. The tunnel was SUPER narrow there...lol. ;-)
