    I’ve had tinnitus for the last 30 years or so, the sound of a fan nearby helps cancel out the sound in my head. I do watch these videos with a pair of noise cancelling headphones, the sound is improved and it diminishes some annoying outside noises. I have noticed though that lately, there is a high pitched sound in the scenes with Steve in the truck.

    In Maine its around $325.00 for an oil burner cleaning. New nozzle, tank filter, and pump screen, brush and vacuum boiler tubes and firebox, and efficiency and smoke test. Steve should have just given the old fart a rough estimate when he asked how much a cleaning was, especially since he's a repeat customer.

    prescription hearing aids are supposed to be adjusted for the frequencies that your hearing is bad in rather than just amplifying everything my mom had them for most of her life she kept going down from having scarlet fever as a child

    • @brianburns7211
      @brianburns7211 Месяц назад +1

      You’re right. If you just keep turning up the volume, then it can cause noise induced hearing loss. Some of the more advanced hearing aids have noise cancellation. I have lots of trouble hearing in noisy places.

    Hi Steve, I've heard they make hearing aids now that look like Earbuds/Airpods. I have no idea if they help moderate to severe hearing loss. I will add, we took my mom who had bad hearing loss to costco about 8 years ago give or take to look into hearing aids and after testing they quoted a price of $6,800 needless to say we did not get those.

    It is very easy to abuse our ears. Back in the day when I went out to night clubs, the music was played so loud we couldn't even talk to each other. We thought nothing of it. People working in machine shops without hearing protection. The younger generation all used ear buds blasting music into their ears.

    Steve...the audiologist should have given you an audiogram that test your hearing range in frequency and loudness..That produces a chart where he/she can see where your hearing drops off and the level is too low for you to hear it. Then they can prescribe a hearing aid tuned to that frequency range so you can hear it.That is why they are expensive. I have a problem with some women's voices because their voice is between 2500-3000 Hz. My hearing drops off about 2500, so I may or may not hear the word correctly. Your doctor was giving you a "word test" to see if you had trouble with some words... called a word recognition test (WRT). Over the Counter hearing aids are mostly amplifiers, they don't have any tuners, so they may help...Their are videos on RUclips. that will explain this...Don't be too hard on that audiologist... I hope this helps.
