This is a question that many brothers and sisters on a pagan path have, and many experience this topic as a fundamental box to check off to keep practicing their crafts.
I hope this video will offer you all the tools I humbly feel as necessary for the deep understanding of this topic.
All the bones and antlers in this video have been found on the day of the shooting of this video in the tundra of Saltfjellet Nordland, the region where I live. I find this the most magical gift ever from the Gods on that day, so very validating.

Freyia, I am crying right now, it’s so beautiful to hear these words from you. By nature I’m not very trusting of most things. When I was misled down the path of- “today let’s give an offering to Frey, Thor , Loki etc”- Expecting some in return that never came. Now I just give offerings to the land, a reciprocal relationship.If it doesn’t feel right I will just leave it alone. I’ve distanced myself from the literary version of the gods and moved to more archetypal views of the universe. I can trust this for now. I can’t imagine what will come next for me.
You have to build a relationship with the Gods first, before you can expect favors from them. It's not that simple. If you got a phone call from someone you weren't aquatinted with, and they asked you for help, what's the chances your gonna say "Okay, I'll help you!" Probably not that good. Keep in mind as you work within your archetypal system, that the Gods are not just archetypes, but conscious entities. Working with land wights and faery are pretty much the same deal. You have to build a relationship with them. I wish you good luck. Wassail!
How? How to even begin to build a relationship with them? This concept is so hard to fathom in the way that I could not imagine where to begin. And I am sad that I have listened, observed opened myself but still feel so lost and alone in understanding
@@jinesaleah Being aware of them is more helpful than not noticing anything. You don't need a big overdone offering, could be just a walk outside and seeing them in our world. Simple as that. If you want to leave something of course you can, if I do that I keep the local animals in mind if it's something they will like. Especially if it's food🍓
@@jinesaleah be willing to forget everything you know/ have learned and willing to learn from the ground up. So many times people with abilities or natural connections think that small connection that they feel is everything and they already have it, and so it never grows bc of limiting beliefs. You have to be willing to assume you know nothing. Also, connecting to your higher self first is often the best path. Just now as I type this, the biggest raven just came and perched in my yard and gave a soft caw. He is at least 3 feet tall. He’s magnificent. He visits me often and I know this is Odin. For now, Telling me he agrees with that last thought. Because animal signs is a big way that I communicate with the gods. Not all are so obvious. Finding out how you communicate or get your messages can be unique to you. Don’t force and Let things move at there natural pace.
I lost my job of 20 years two days ago. I prayed to Allfather for help. I heard : pick yourself up. I have a job interview in two days. Allfather is wise.
My trusted god is Loki, nearly 40 years now. It's been a difficult relationship, times when I've not wanted it, but Loki is not a god to be refused, and now, these past years I've embraced him, we work beautifully together now. ❤
I have just discovered your channel, and I must say I do not think I have ever encountered another Germanic pagan who is so profoundly and authentically immersed in our tradition. The intimate nature of the sort of relationship you have just described is beyond that which nearly anyone, regardless of religion, can relate to. It is a blessing that we get to learn from your wisdom.
I didn't realize until recently how often Odin has revealed himself to me. Before i was introduced to the old Norse beliefs, runes and path, before i knew my last name and that 40 % of my blood is Norwegian. I recieved my first set of Runes on my 17th birthday ( im almost 37yrs old now) from uncle who carved them from hickory wood and around that same time i learned the orgin of my last name. I recall having a few vivid dreams when i was 15 of who i know now was Odin, and there was symbols and things that are typically associated with Odin within these dreams. At that time i wasnt familiar at all with The Nordic Gods, and those dreams i had i still remember so its a very wonderful experience to make this connection.

I cant help but bounce between many gods and worlds. I'm unsure if I'm lost, but I feel the flow and connection to many things, im constantly in and out of this world, Perhaps my spirit is chaotic.
Nothing wrong in bouncing back and forth Zacch, we don't necessarily meet our fortrolig in one lifetime.
@@FreyiaTV I just worry sometimes that my soul will never settle or be able to truly connect with a deity and therefore is alone. When im gone I want to guide the dead and be 1 with a forest but I'm fearful I'll be lost.

@@CapraObscura when it comes to the Gods, you don't have to be monogamous to have a deep and meaningful relationship. 😉 You can dance with all of them, as your life takes you down different paths, your life will be enriched by the Gods you meet and work with along the way.

I venerate quite a few gods, but Odin was who brought me in, and which archteype I am most drawn towards. I dont really feel Odin around much, but I get the impression he wants us to wander, explore paths, connect with other deities, etc... When he does come though the signs are pretty clear which is always good.

Another great video, very enlightening! It took me a bit of time before I felt ready to watch this, and I’m so glad I finally did. This is a completely new concept for me, but I very much like the sound of it. I’ll admit I’m a bit disappointed there’s not a more clear-cut path to achieving this type of relationship with the Norse deities, but on the other hand, it’s also reassuring in a way knowing that I don’t have to do some dramatic ritual or spell to get there, that it’ll just develop on its own through continued interaction and connection (assuming it’s meant to be), just like a close, trusting relationship with anyone else. Something something to me while listening to this was what I suppose is my own Patron.
It's a spirit that has always been with me for as long as I remember.
When I was small, and growing into my teens I would recieve messages from "Future Derek". I would imagine that there was a future version of me who was capable of telepathically communicating with me in the past.
Soon after my spiritual awakening a few years back I realized that it was my soul, Toksik66.
But you something click inside of my head as to why I have been so drawn to all of the gods and goddesses and natural spirits, light and dark.
It's like they, as within so within.
Each new one that I learn about is a part of what I call Toksik66.

I was called by Loki and I have grown increasingly close to them/him almost immediately.
We are now in a "god-spousal" relationship,
We have been together for several past lives and I couldn't ask for a better "patron" Deity.
as a fellow devotee of Loki, I can attest to the fact that he tends to announce himself in one's life, with a "come with me". More and more I'm convinced that it is the gods who decide the nature of the relationship--and if they want to work with someone more closely, they'll make that known.
When people go out searching for a deity and try to "make" something happen, it turns into an exercise of frustration.

I found my patreness Goddess when I was visiting my grandparents graves She said "Life becomes anew" then I saw a Falcon flying Hail Freyja she came to me in my living room last November and I felt her in the room I was ready to go home with her right there and right then nothing else mattered and my life has became Anew I can't see my life without her

It is More Likely that your "patron" deity will choose you, than you choosing them. This I know from experience.
The word Patron is not a word we as Germanic/Scandanavian pagans should be using. It is a Latin derived word that came out of france. If you compare the word in a thesaurus, you will get words like supporter, customer, backer, financer, underwriter. That's not how I would describe my relationship to any God. I don't just sacrifice only to get something. The Romans however often did practice this way. The difference is that our Gods are not just archetypal psychopomps. They possess indifferent consciousness and are subject to fate like the rest of us.
I am not criticizing the work of Freyja. I often find her videos inspiring. I am criticizing the use of the term "Patron" or "Patron Deity" amongst the greater Heathen community. This carryover key phrase from wicca, should be changed to reflect a more heathen mindset. Perhaps a more germanic word should be chosen that would denote this type of rapport with deity, without the trappings of Roman or Frankish Latin. I am pretty sure the arch heathens never used the words "patron deity" to describe the relationship they had with their God.
Patron is not a term we use in Scandinavia to define our relationship with the gods, i think I made this pretty clear indeed by giving you the terms we use. Blessings.
I feel like I have been called by Thor a lot of times, I had two dreams involving Thor in a way. One dream I dreamt I was a Viking and I just raided this town and to shorten it a huge storm broke out and I could hear Thor striking his anvil. One other dream I saw a raven fly through a storm of thunder and lightning.

Sometimes a god offers help for a specific problem. Other times they seek a deeper communion with you. Talk to them and learn from them. Then decide. Remember you are always free. You can say no.
I had a Fenrir experience while struggling with resentment and rage. I made an offering and did a blot. Thanked him for his help and that was the end of it. I know others who have a deeper communion with him. Part of a pagan path is learning about the gods in your neighborhood. Some will become lifelong companions, others you will only see once in awhile.
