You could also trade a faction AI cores to get friendly with them, especially with the hedge. At this point of my game, I have 30+ gamma cores that are just wasting away, thats a nice reserve of rep bonus.

Each system bounty is easily double digit rep as well, just need to beat down some weak pirate fleets.

You can click on the ship again after selecting it for deployment. This only works on frigates though.
