I have been hiding in a bush for 3 hours I invaded an AFK farmer in Liurnia - no lie - five times in a row. He's up on a cliff where you just can't get to him. After 4 pointless invasions I'd had enough. I decided that this host wouldn't get a single rune more from me. So when hunters showed up, I ran away and put on the mimic's veil in a bush. And I hid there. The bush enfolded and protected me. Eventually the hunters gave up and disconnected, but I couldn't disconnect or the host would get runes. So I opted to remain in the bush. That was three hours ago. Since then, I've seen entire generations of hunters and invaders come and go, and throughout it all, I've remained in the bush. The bush is my home now. I'm not coming out. You can't make me come out. I've been AFK farming the AFK farmer. Every time a hunter gets killed or disconnects, I get runes and a furled finger. And the host is going to come back to fewer runes than he was expecting, because one of his invader slots is being permanently taken up by me, crouching in my bush. I like it in here. There are rocks and leaves and sometimes a bug flies by to keep me company. If you invade an AFK farmer and have some time on your hands, I fully recommend doing this, but you have to pick a different bush. This one is mine.
It’s such a subtle difference, but I love the noticeably different ways Diallos’ VA delivers the “In blood!” line. The first time, it sounds somewhat weaker, like he’s just saying it to adhere to his family’s saying, without any conviction. The second time, however, it’s so much more firmer and aggressive, showing that he’s found his purpose and duty in defending Jarburg.

I really like some of Patches lines, the "this simply isn't like you" when you refuse to forgive him, and the "it's me, Patches. Patches!" Make me feel like he really does remember us from all the previous games. Not sure if they are actually supposed to come across like that, or if it's just me as a veteran of the series hearing what I want to hear.
Him insisting we know who he is just hits different when you've played through all the other FromSoft games. Seeing Patches somehow claw his way into each game, still the same slippery little shit he's always been, makes me realize he's just like us. Just figuring out a way to survive and eke out some sort of existence in these awful, crumbling worlds. I can't kill the guy, even if he's a toxic fucker sometimes.

@@kayzeke8571 Theres a chance that instead of being the same consciousness like Shabiri, Hyetta loses her memories or receives false ones when she posesses a body to make her seem more trustworthy/likeable to lure tarnished to the Three Fingers, which could have happened to Vyke, seeing as his maiden is dead in the Church of Inhibition, but she doesn't seem to have any injuries.
Nah there is. Takes forever to get the 2nd Rose Whip otherwise, might as well kill him at the academy town since there's no difference in his loot drops. Plus you get to hear one of his few cool lines

I usually love killing NPCs just for shits and giggles after a couple playthroughs but I can’t bring myself to hurt her. Especially after doing her quest I just want her to find happiness somewhere in the world

But no, she was just incredibly sweet the whole time, pops up to help constantly, and is concerned for others' well-being right up until the end. I felt like a monster. And then you spend all this while with her becoming increasingly hopeful that she'll be able to live a life according to her own desires, only for her to be attacked by her own sisters at the behest if her shit dad and have to die alone. Hurt my feelings.

Some of it is personal conjecture, but it seems like she's an immaculate conception sort of clone of Malenia that emerged from the Scarlet Rot swamp in Caelid. Like she just popped out with no father or birth. Gowry is some kind of sentient manifestation of the rot, just like Shabriri is for Chaos, and he wants to send Milicent off to distant lands to die and explode in a Scarlet Aeonia to spread the rot and become a Rot Goddess just like Malenia did. Scarlet Rot stuff is insanely freaky but a lot of it takes some digging to figure out.

I think the one oddity about her and her family lorewise that I'm curious about is what Millicent would have done to "restore" Malenia to her former self....though I guess it's possible if not likely that her compulsion to try is just another instinct leading her down the path of death/Aeonia ascendancy. She doesn't seem like the wrathful type or one for meaningless violence, despite the fact she tried to chop my head off instantly (Tarnished does sort of deserve it tbh, there's 0 narrative reason for them to be at the Haligtree). She didn't kill Godrick/his men or take his rune when she could have, and she "rejected" whatever the hell Gowry is and his pests instead of instantly smiting them as they probably deserve (unless the "rejection" is just not wanting to be a bioweapon?). I initially thought the bloom in the adjacent room was Malenia's second -- and I'm still not entirely convinced it isn't -- but it is indisputably smaller than both the one she leaves after your battle with her and the remains of the bloom in Caelid. Coupled with the maiden set you can find there, it suggests there was maybe another sister who made it before Millicent did. If that's the case, I'm deathly curious what happened. Malenia rejected her and she was just so sad she died? (Lmao.) Or is that really the remains of Malenia's second bloom? But then for what reason? Why would she cast SA? I didn't realize that Varré was still barely alive after invading him. As soon as I finished the invasion I went right on to Mohg and eventually moved into NG+ without knowing about it. I felt like an idiot once I went into NG+ and fought him again. I like having two of as many weapons as possible so I missed the opportunity to potentially have two of the Bouquet without having to enter NG++. Doesn't matter too much, probably will never try to powerstance the Bouquet or even wield just the one that I have, but... he was _literally right behind me and I missed it._
I teared up with what you did with Boc!! In my first playthrough, I decided to give him a larval tear because he is so hell bent to be beautiful. But we all know where that leads, and that already made me sad and make me want to do a redo. I did everything even absolution and all. But nothing worked, hence I told myself in NG+ I'll do better. And seeing how he reacted on the last part, he is so frustrated and you can hear that he doesn't want to hurt us because we are his Lord. Dang the emotions. But thanks for this, I have no strength to do what you did!
I guess this npc was dead already for me when I got to that spot in the game. Just looted a glowy thing and got armor. I had already gotten the frenzied flame from exploring so probably has something to do with it
Depends on how you look at it but he could have took over yura’s body after he died by other means like Hyetta with the girl killed by Demi-humans, so he could be looting corpses (in a more sense literal) like the average player for all we know
Unpopular opinion but Gostoc is really sad, he’s been pushed around all his life and even had one of his arms grafted to someone else (presumably Godrick) and when you kill him he sounds so sad, the Voice Actors in this game are so damn good it’s sad
The way the music picks up and is emphasized when you’re attacking Boc makes it even more sad. That long high pitch string along with the orchestra makes my chest just tighten up.
I had to check the Millicent betrayal since I couldn't stomach that. Betraying through at the end of a whole journey, she even helping you in many fights, uugh

Hearing the turtle priest forgive you for your attempt at murdering him truly shows his character. I legit shed a tear when I realized he could actually die and his death sound were cries. I’ll never be able to unsee this😢
Wow they really make you feel bad for most of the characters. I even feel bad for Gostoc and Varre, Gostoc just wanted to be free even if he was a little underhanded, and Varre did invite you to the dynasty.
I mistook boc for a sheep up in the plateau and hit him, and I felt so bad that after running super far away, I used a celestial dew… he’s too kind to die
Im glad that i can finally hear what Tanith had to say after the boss fight with rykard cuz as soon as i saw that giant head, i thought killing it would grant me a weapon like Ludwig. Well it sure hell granted me an invasion instead cuz i didn't see her at all crouched like that lmao.
Millicent hit me hard, after doing the questline myself, I cried so much. Now in NG+ I have to kill her to get the Talisman then possibly another NG+ later for the Frenzied Ending so I can cure it with the Needle.

Interesting how most NPCs have bell bearings that correspond to their affinities. For example, Sellen, Thops and Gowry have the same looking bell bearing connecting them to Glintstone Sorcery (their bell bearings look like glintstone crystals and they look like Sellen's Primal Glintstone so that's what they could be for them). Others, like Miriel, D and Corhyn, show their connection to the Golden Order through their bell bearings with their golden glow. And lastly, Rogier and Iji have bell bearings pointing to their connection to Destined Death/Deathblight that look charred (the bell bearings could also just point to the cause of their deaths). Strangely enough, Bernahl's also looks like their's. P.S. Seluvis is the only NPC with a unique bell bearing, although there is no reason why he should really have one since his puppetry is the only thing making him different from other Glintstone Sorcerers (maybe that's why?). And every other NPC has the generic grey bell bearing.

@@Xcalboss I spent the whole time doing her quest thinking she was going to betray me or become possessed by/turn into Malenia. But no, she was just incredibly sweet the whole time, pops up to help constantly, and is concerned for others' well-being right up until the end. I felt like a monster. And then you spend all this while with her becoming increasingly hopeful that she'll be able to live a life according to her own desires, only for her to be attacked by her own sisters at the behest if her shit dad and have to die alone. Hurt my feelings.

If only so she could show up her bastard father and live a life truly her own. And then when I found the arm later I was so hype to give it to her. And now she's resting between really pretty flowers close-ish to her mother. Some of it is personal conjecture, but it seems like she's an immaculate conception sort of clone of Malenia that emerged from the Scarlet Rot swamp in Caelid. Like she just popped out with no father or birth. Gowry is some kind of sentient manifestation of the rot, just like Shabriri is for Chaos, and he wants to send Milicent off to distant lands to die and explode in a Scarlet Aeonia to spread the rot and become a Rot Goddess just like Malenia did. Scarlet Rot stuff is insanely freaky but a lot of it takes some digging to figure out.

I think the one oddity about her and her family lorewise that I'm curious about is what Millicent would have done to "restore" Malenia to her former self....though I guess it's possible if not likely that her compulsion to try is just another instinct leading her down the path of death/Aeonia ascendancy.
I'm curious what Malenia would make of it. She doesn't seem like the wrathful type or one for meaningless violence, despite the fact she tried to chop my head off instantly (Tarnished does sort of deserve it tbh, there's 0 narrative reason for them to be at the Haligtree).
She didn't kill Godrick/his men or take his rune when she could have, and she "rejected" whatever the hell Gowry is and his pests instead of instantly smiting them as they probably deserve (unless the "rejection" is just not wanting to be a bioweapon?). I initially thought the bloom in the adjacent room was Malenia's second -- and I'm still not entirely convinced it isn't -- but it is indisputably smaller than both the one she leaves after your battle with her and the remains of the bloom in Caelid. Coupled with the maiden set you can find there, it suggests there was maybe another sister who made it before Millicent did. If that's the case, I'm deathly curious what happened. Malenia rejected her and she was just so sad she died? (Lmao.) Or is that really the remains of Malenia's second bloom? But then for what reason? Why would she cast SA?

I didn't realize that Varré was still barely alive after invading him. As soon as I finished the invasion I went right on to Mohg and eventually moved into NG+ without knowing about it.
I felt like an idiot once I went into NG+ and fought him again. I like having two of as many weapons as possible so I missed the opportunity to potentially have two of the Bouquet without having to enter NG++. Doesn't matter too much, probably will never try to powerstance the Bouquet or even wield just the one that I have, but... he was _literally right behind me and I missed it._
I teared up with what you did with Boc!! In my first playthrough, I decided to give him a larval tear because he is so hell bent to be beautiful. But we all know where that leads, and that already made me sad and make me want to do a redo. I did everything even absolution and all. But nothing worked, hence I told myself in NG+ I'll do better. And seeing how he reacted on the last part, he is so frustrated and you can hear that he doesn't want to hurt us because we are his Lord. Dang the emotions. But thanks for this, I have no strength to do what you did!

Truly so, I was sad when Yura died to Elenora. When I saw him in the mountains I was happy, then rage filled me.
I guess this npc was dead already for me when I got to that spot in the game. Just looted a glowy thing and got armor. I had already gotten the frenzied flame from exploring so probably has something to do with it

Depends on how you look at it but he could have took over yura’s body after he died by other means like Hyetta with the girl killed by Demi-humans, so he could be looting corpses (in a more sense literal) like the average player for all we know

Unpopular opinion but Gostoc is really sad, he’s been pushed around all his life and even had one of his arms grafted to someone else (presumably Godrick) and when you kill him he sounds so sad, the Voice Actors in this game are so damn good it’s sad

The way the music picks up and is emphasized when you’re attacking Boc makes it even more sad. That long high pitch string along with the orchestra makes my chest just tighten up.

dude i thought it was gonna be some honourable duel to end her properly after taking out the needle but no you just brutally murder her in a gank, her dialog is heartbreaking cause she was one of my favorite characters in the game. Had to take a break after that

Millicent hit me hard, after doing the questline myself, I cried so much. Now in NG+ I have to kill her to get the Talisman then possibly another NG+ later for the Frenzied Ending so I can cure it with the Needle.
Exhaust her dialogue at the end of her quest line, reload the area and examine her body for the needle. No need to betray her :)

Interesting how most NPCs have bell bearings that correspond to their affinities. For example, Sellen, Thops and Gowry have the same looking bell bearing connecting them to Glintstone Sorcery (their bell bearings look like glintstone crystals and they look like Sellen's Primal Glintstone so that's what they could be for them). Others, like Miriel, D and Corhyn, show their connection to the Golden Order through their bell bearings with their golden glow. And lastly, Rogier and Iji have bell bearings pointing to their connection to Destined Death/Deathblight that look charred (the bell bearings could also just point to the cause of their deaths). Strangely enough, Bernahl's also looks like their's.
P.S. Seluvis is the only NPC with a unique bell bearing, although there is no reason why he should really have one since his puppetry is the only thing making him different from other Glintstone Sorcerers (maybe that's why?). And every other NPC has the generic grey bell bearing.
