- This video was fun to make because we had so many problems.😜
We shot 1.5" AR500 (Three 1/2" plates Poorly welded together by me) vs 50 cals baddest rounds. The SLAP Round (Saboted Light Armor Penetrator) and the MK211 Raufoss Round (aka The Party Popper)
LOL,Things didn't go well for sure.
Hope you enjoy. Give us a thumbs up and SUBSCRIBE NOW!!!!!!

Turn up your amperage on your weld. You want the puddle to dig into the base metal not sit on top. My first welds looked a lot like yours so no worries. You learn and get better just like with target shooting. Since you are welding on alloy, heat treated?, steel if you can set the pieces on either aluminum or copper to draw as much heat away from the steel. I would clamp two together and weld them an inch or so at a time without the aluminum sinks then let them cool. If you have the aluminum sinks you can probably make 3 or 4 one inch welds before allowing everything to cool and starting again. Then do the same with the last piece. Are you welding with MIG or Stick?
You don't have to weld them together. You've already got 2 holes for mounting at the top corners, drill 2 more in the bottom corners of the plates and bolt them together with GR8 1/2" diameter bolts. Use 4"X4" fence post as a mounting brackets top and bottom just as you did with the 2x4s, it should be able to stand up to the shear brute force of the 50cal. Those GR8 bolts won't stretch like some of your previous episodes I've seen, but the wood will compress and loosen the connection.
You'd need to use a piece of flatbar across the back of the 4x4s as a washer and really crank it tight. I don't think that this would break.
Anyways, try it out and see how it goes. If it all pans out, do revisit.
spoken like a true manager. Do as told not as observed
Dude, I'm going crazy with your channel. No bullshit here.
Those SLAP rounds would undoubtedly go through 1.5" of regular steel, but this plates were HARD AF.
Thanks 👍👍
This somehow got in my suggestions and I can’t stop watching!
Same!!
Nobody asked
@@Wreekz wow..somebody looks like they had trauma when they were 6.
Party pooper Lamo😂😂😂
👍
Cool shots. Thanks guys. 😎👍
Your welcome 👍🙏
Mk211 vs feral hog video soon?
That was AR500 steel, I also heard of AR550 and AR650, and if you made a video shooting those and comparing that to AR500 steel to see if it is actually stronger and by how much would be very interesting
I wonder if the welded plates had a spaced armour effect.
how about a ceramic front plate against the mighty slap?
the slap round stuff is amazing and really entertaining.
if anyone has and can afford a ceramic dragonskin vest that would be some video.
cheers.
Thanks for the comment 👍
"I thought welding was supposed to keep the plates together.? Maybe I just dont get that process."
Proceeds to let round fall through magwell, and bipod collapse. 🤪
Great day for failures for sure
Shit happens
Turns out a round peg does go through a rectangle hole
The problem is the deference of energy, sprawling, at even the tiniest of gaps between the plates. Therefore forward momentum was lost, as evidenced by the shear force to separate the plates.
👍
Rock on guys 😎🤟
Thanks 👍
That is Colorado, I hear those exact same birds and see those mountains a lot
It is👍
It looks like you are somewhere by Monte or alamosa. I'm from ignacio and I love watching what you guys do.
I like your videos man, it's awesome, but i think you definitely need Atlas bipods for your rifle 😜
Lol, we just put this on and well they are garbage 🤣
@@GoingBallistic They too small for this Behemoth rifle 🤣🤣
cool content keep it up
Even if those welds broke, no go through?
👍
I don't think it was your welding..so much as the rods you used..I think you needed to use a 7018...
I’m welding ar500 at work today try 8018 rod . Turn 1/8 up to about 125 to 135 amps . Need welding done hit me up .
Can you see if there's a slight chance you've got some 2" thick Carbon-Boron nanotube ceramic with woven Silicon threadings?
I'm blessed by your channel. Seriously 💪!!! I hope you have 1 million viewers 🙏
4:03 Raufoss 🔥🔥
It would be better if you replayed the initial impact slow Mo rather than a long slow Mo video of the aftermath. That’s just my thoughts
May be velocity of detonation with you. It's a joke 🤣. God bless you brother!
Well you must be getting to the big time mate🎸
Starting to get thumbs down 🤘
Experts are coming buddy 🤫
We can’t please them all😬
Of course the steel was brittle like glass at the welds. What did you expect? You have to heat treat that stuff after the welding if you want original properties.
Awesome content!! I just love watching this stuff. The kind of things a 50 will destroy is amazing. Thanks for posting these awesome videos.
You guys need those plates welded. Hit me up.
Thanks for the comment, we just might take you up on that one day. 😆👍
Yup
Yup👍
The weld job was no good was my very first thought!
Is it possible to put a 308 raufoss bullet in a 50 SLAP Sabot?
Started searching 50 bmg cause I saw some iraq war videos, got to this channel, not disappointed 😏.
Glad you found us👍
Can I just say that as a huge liberal tree-hugging hippie, watching 50 cal rounds vs. various targets is just so damned much fun! It doesn't have to be political. You, Sarkissian, and Taofledermaus are some of my favorite channels. Peace, y'all!
Lol, glad you like the videos and your comment made my day.
@@GoingBallistic Just trying to spread a little goodwill while exploring content outside of the ever-shrinking echo chamber YT's algorithms have built around me. We're all in this together. :-)

Okay man, this was the vid I was waiting for😎 1“ of our metall will stop a SLAP-round. And there are some harder plates to shoot 😉
👍
Gotta love all the welding experts in the comments
Looks like fun. Wish I could afford some real Raufuss rounds but I suppose I'll have to make due with AP, API and my API-T rounds.
As long as it sports the .50BMG part I'm good.
Take Care, Be Safe and.....
Overnout
Roger that 👍
How about doing something with leading / controlling the flash somehow in some direction? Look how much light/flash it is and how much actual power is left?!? And you see? Trump's gone (at last) & we're still havin fun! YEEEHAW!
👍
As a retired professional welding engineer I will not comment on your welding (ahem bubblegum).
As a reliable idea drill a hole through all the plates at the bottom i.e 120 degree from each other. 3 long bolts, 6 valve springs from your shot up engine, 6 large washers and 3 nuts.
Assemble as follows
Bolt, washer, spring, plates, spring, washer, nut. In all 3 holes and it will keep the plates together when shot.
Hope this helps. Keep up the good work.
Lol, yes Juicy Fruit welds for sure.
Thanks for the info👍
Round was going about one inch in 22 microseconds. 3787 FPS, by the chrono.
That means the contact time between bullet and plate was around 25 millionths of a second.
How could that plate 'gotten out of the way' in that amount of time?
Folks still argue that hard targets have to be bolted down to get reliable results.
Thank you GREG. You are correct
So many people think it is the same action as say a catchers mitt slowing down a ball,
but the interaction between the projectiles and target are over before the plate even begins to move at speeds that fast. I’ve just given up trying to explain this.
AR500 is high carbon. Most mig wire hobby welders us is not. If you want your welds to hold better try using some 7018 rods on a stick welder. It will be a night and day difference. Great videos, thanks for all the hard work you put into them.
Thanks for the tips!
I always found that stacked thin plates did better than a single plate of equal thickness
There's actually been a lot of study towards a homogenous armor plate versus stacked/layered plates, from what I remember stacked plates are superior because the shear cracks in the material don't propagate throughout the whole thing, they stop at the next plate which distributes the forces to the next plate over a broader surface area. The M1 Abrams armor takes advantage of this effect.
Thats pretty thick steel. Turn the welder temperature up. Way up. Adjust wire speed to match and keep the welding nozzle about 1/16th to ⅛ inch odd the steel. Good penetration is what you failed to get because it was set to cold.
Thanks for the tip👍
Wow! Those are some heavy hitters!
Wait a sec...you have a welder buddy named Stringer?
I found the right place...
Lol, good old Stringer👍👍
Can you shoot AR550 steel with the SLAP? Demolition ranch did and the AP 50 just scratched it.
I’ll see if I can get a 1” piece of AR 550.
It would be cool if Demolition Ranch would send us the one he shot.
Exellent Work!!! The spaced armour usually does put up a fight :-))
Thanks Mark👍
@@GoingBallistic Welcome!
Very bad welding job, You need stronger system to hold the 3 piece of steel together, I like Justin hair cut.
LOL, Ya think
What's up with your bipod moves all over the place ,my Serbu doesn't have that problem great video thank you.
No idea, but we’re getting a different one for sure.
would it go through if the target was supported better, a lot of energy was lost on impact
Agree, seems like a lot of energy went into moving that first plate, and breaking the welds
this comment is just here for promotion to the tops :)
How does this man not have 100k followers? Maybe he needs the video intros idk good content guys.
👍
TURN UP THE AUDIO.
Привет хорошо потрудились.
I can understand being scared of a ricochet @20 feet to.
Or less
4:36 & the Chrono is usually not at the destination it’s at the muzzle. Unless I’m mistaken shrapnel/sparks aren’t usually in view of a Chrono cam.
Couldn’t pay me enough to do that.
I did view it more than once so continue on safely.
More blooper reel please 😂🤣
👍
That SLAP round is honestly kind of terrifying
I got to make that into a T-shirt 👍
What's the title of the song?
Super hard metals just dont like to hold weld because they are so crystalline
👍
Could anyone answer me, what kind of sniper rifle that they use?
Bushmaster BA-50
I enjoyed watching this, might wanna work on your welding technique lol
Glad ya liked it. Well at least it made for some good slow motion 👍😬
Where in Colorado are you from? I'm from Loveland...
Springs
Not a bad welder, AR plate is HARDDD you need to burn it HOTTTT in order to get penetration, if your goal was keeping the heat down you pretty much just glued them together.
Lol, thanks 👍👍
@@GoingBallistic not a problem! Appreciate your videos man!
shoot some jet engine titanium blades, line them up and do a SLAP shot
Oh I would love to do that...Got any?
Use .035 Fluxcore wire to weld it next time. It will hold.
👍
nice content bro
Thanks
What would you pick? The slap round or the raufos
I would have to go with the Raufoss, just because of all that it can do.
vomit camo
Are you adopting or hiring any gun crazy 34 year olds? Also a web developer.......
Lol, 👍👍👍
@@GoingBallistic hey its sad but true! Love the channel brother. Cheap it strong even in that state!
hardened steel reigns supreme baby gotta love the iron
just keep in mind ar500 only equals 50 hrc you can go to ar680.
Lol you need to practice your welding brov.
Ya think 😂
Love the blooper at the end lol. You should add more to videos if you have them!
Lol. I can put them in every video. Believe me we have them all the time. Lol
@@GoingBallistic lol
Is there anything out there that is faster than a slap round?
No idea
Would it be possible to do a roufoss round through a pig head???? I think it provides a highly realistic medium for visualizing the damage✌️
These fellas here on this channel are some Bad dudes 🇺🇲 they really put on a hell of a show and provide a lot of entertainment and education I've been watching them for a little while now and their content is great every single time
Thanks, it means a lot to Justin and myself 👍
@@GoingBallistic If ya don't mind me asking, is Justin your son? or are you guys just good buddies? or relatives? I've always wondered that 🇺🇲🤗
Lol, do I look that old? Darn gray hair 👨🦳
No we are just good friends.
@@GoingBallistic I'm 33 and I'm bald, have been about 10 years lol, hell I'd rather have gray hair🤗 you guys remind me of my ole buddy and I.
All the energy is being wasted. You would have better results with a solid piece instead of trying to weld them
And how can you back this up? Show me cuz you words mean nothing.
@@GoingBallistic just trying to be helpful. I don't have a RUclips gun channel. Nor do i own a 50cal. But you can see it in the video. The energy from the bullet brakes the welds and the pieces of metal are thrown in different directions.
So if a Russian or Chinese tank came rolling around your neighborhood, would the SLAP do anything for you?
Make me feel good.
Going Ballistic who did you contract to get a sleeve for your break? It would be nice to have a fully capable Browning. I wonder if a transmission would stop that round?
Great video as always! I know you guys are spending top dollar to get these rounds in the first place to make these vid's and it's greatly appreciated. What would be really cool to see would be 308 SLAP VS the newest M993 308 tungsten core AP and see the difference, there are channels that show that both can defeat Level 4 armor but you guys are the only ones that I can think of to really show the difference. Would be awesome to see. Anyway, keep it up! Can't wait till you guys hit one million subs.
Cool idea. We will have to see if we can find any of the M993 rounds👍
@@GoingBallistic I haz some ;)
@@BuffRANGE Ironically it was watching your videos that made me think of this, love your stuff Buffman!
All right! Have you considered shooting plates at a 45 degrees angle or do you fear there may be ricochet?
Mr. Pete Channel is 75٪ away 2 the big time! Probably not enough land
I wanted to hit it as straight on as possible to see if the SLAP would go through. Not worred about the ricochet...tooo much, 😜
@@GoingBallistic all good! I was hoping to see a slope armor simulation. Keep up the good content!
@@TheMrPeteChannel Increasing the angle from 0° typically decreases the rounds performance against a target. EX: 1/4" MIL-46100E steel will not stop 30-06 M2AP from 0° hit, but it can at 30°.
Класс
How the hell could they cost a $100 ?
Did you ever test the radiation level of the projectile after fireing?
No, it tungsten so their shouldn’t be any reason to.
Tungsten is not radioactive
I found your channel through WHO TEE WHO. Glad you guys got together to help each other out growning each channel
He is a great guy. Glad you stopped by
I heard that you aren’t supposed shoot a SLAP with a muzzle break. Is that bad data?
Someone made a special insert that goes within the muzzle brake. They used to hate shooting SLAP cuz they had to take the muzzle brake off and that recoil was heavy
No, that data is correct.
These guys have a sleeve inside their brake to hold the plastic sabot together until the whole mess leaves the muzzle end of the brake. It's drilled full of holes like a BOSS brake, but is .510" or so on the inside.
@@ScottKenny1978 I wonder what type of brakes too. Edward fired SLAP from his DT 50BMG with a brake on, and it was fine..
Cool video!
🙋♂️🇫🇮👍
Thanks Max👍👍
Класс!!!
Love from Romania!
Right on👍👍
Great stuff again. Cheers
👍
Incredible video as always! You and I both know your welding is top-notch. That force would separate any weld on a small plate. Keep up the great content!
Thanks Mark.👍
Awesome video ! Hope the channel keeps growing ! 👍🏼🇺🇸
Thanks 👍
What rifle is the 50 cal
Bushmaster
Another good video, those plates were thrown everywhere, it looks awesome in slow motion. Thank you for all the work and expense you put into these shoots.
