Who knows me knows how much I love, how much I am obsessed by Antony and Cleopatra. Not just as a couple, but even the single historical figures. I don't even know why I love them so much, I can't explain it in words (they say that when you can't say why you love a thing that means it's true love lol), I just know that I love them. They've always fascinated me. That's it. And I love to watch (and read) movies/tv shows about them. So, this week I finally watched this movie/mini series (but I think I already watched it when I was a child/younger?), actually I watched it for three times this week lol (I must have some kind of problem, yes xD), and even though it's not historically accurate (they even changed the way Antony died - don't ask me why), I liked it! I like how they portraied A&C relationship, even tho it's not entirely faithful. I can't help but cry everytime I watch the scene where Antony dies :'( Their goodbye was so heartbreaking.
I must say that, to me, James Purefoy will always be the best Mark Antony! No one will ever be as good as him in that role! BUT, i think, Billy Zane did an amazing job. His Mark Antony wasn't bad at all! I liked it! I fell in love with him, especially with his smile (?). Plus, he and Leonor had such GREAT chemistry!
If you want to watch this movie don't expect it to be faithful to the history or you will be disappointed (even tho for some things it was more faithful than Rome). But if you enjoy it as a simple movie etc.. you may like it as I did! :)
And it was full of people I know! The same Billy Zane, he was the bad guy of Titanic (but I recognized him only after xD), Timothy Dalton (he was great as Julius Caesar), Rupert Graves (I love him as Lestrade in Sherlock, but as Octavian... lol i can't take him seriously, sorry.), Richard Armitage, Alliser Thorne of GoT (I don't remember the name of the actor), and in this movie he wasn't a traitor but very loyal to Antony lol, etc...

Antony and Cleopatra had a complicted relationship. Both were violent and impulsive, they craved power and were lost in the pleasure of the flesh. Their love was passionate, all consuming ...They weren't good for each other but couldn't live without each other. It's facinating. BEAUTIFUL VIDEO. Love this miniseries, the actors did a great job
