Hello Susie Q, thanks for asking. If the cord is smaller, it could be that you can’t stitch over it. There are other feet available for finer cords like Cording Foot with 3 grooves #22 or Cording Foot with 5 grooves #25. Here is the link to the video on these feet: ruclips.net/video/_BAGhkoL5Vw/видео.html This will give you a good overview.
I'm sorry perhaps I wasn't clear. I 'm wanting to make piping for dresses but not "mini". I have foot #38 but find this doesn't work for anything larger than very fine cording. Zipper foot doesn't get close enough to the cording when applying the bias binding. Any suggestions please? @@BerninaInternational
Hi Anne, thanks for asking! C presser feet are for machines with 9 mm stitch width. The BERNINA 350 PE has 5.5 mm stitch width. Hence, bulky overlock foot #12 (without C) is the one compatible with your machine. For more information on our presser feet and full compatibility information please refer to the accessories catalog: www.bernina.com/en-AU/Support-AU/Product-Catalogs Kind regards from Switzerland
Hi Shazzie, thanks for asking! C feet are for machines with 9 mm stitch width. We use a 9 mm machine in the video, hence we chose the C foot. The letter “C” stands for “coded” presser foot, and refers to the sensor (lens) on the presser foot shaft that specifies the stitch width to the sewing machine. C foot soles are longer and wider than soles of 5.5 mm presser feet. This is also why foot 12 doesn't have the hole. The hole is too big for the narrow sole. It would have a negative effect on the stability of the sole.
@@BerninaInternational Hi Thank you for your reply ..😊 I did think #12 + #12C foot should do the same job on 9mm or 5mm (depending on machine owned) but you can’t feed a yarn through the #12 5mm foot as there is no hole… 🤔 I do own a Bernina Activa 240 5mm (fantastic machine that I’ve owned a long time ) + Bernina 770 9mm Quilters (this is my Big “Posh Baby “ machine) I know you can’t use the C foot on the Activa but you can use 5mm ones on the 9mm machines .. 🦋
@@shazziep5567 We know what you mean! However, with this foot it was actually not possible to have a hole in the sole for technical reasons. The basic function of the foot remains the same and is ensured by the groove on the underside of the sole. Thank you for sewing with BERNINA and for your interest in our videos! We hope that your activa 240 and your B 770 QE will give you sewing pleasure for many years to come! PS, not sure if you already know: There's a brand new Upgrade for the B 770 QE. I love my Bernina because they have the best variety of presser feet and educational support.
The video showed me more ways to use this foot than I ever imagined - I NEED this foot! :-)
thank you Bernina.....
Can you use the #12 foot for cording narrower than the groove?

@@susieq8058 Hi Susie Q, 3 Groove pintuck Foot #30 might do the trick. This is the best possibility for smaller cord we can offer.
Thank you - I'll look into it.@@BerninaInternational

Why is it that all the tutorials show the 12C not the 12 … There is NO hole in the 12 ..?
