Good video guys of some leisure paddleboarding for 7 calm miles !!! Okay let me see if I guess correctly y'all used to cars one at West Newton to put in and while already having another car at Buena Vista put in /take out then 15 min. drive back to West Newton to begin float and 3 hours or so later at Buena Vista take out load boards up and 15 min. trip back home !! Not bad if I was correct on my guess !!

Thanks! Yep. You got it. That pretty much sums up how we shuttle our own boards with our 2 vehicles. Sometimes we hire an outfitter to shuttle our gear when we are further away from home.

My husband used to live on the Little Sewickley Creek and he was so giddy with delight when you started paddling up. Unfortunately, his house and grandparent's house are no longer there. He has many memories of being on the creek and on the Yough. Now, he always takes his kayak and our children out to fish and paddle along that same stretch of the Yough to make new memories with our children.

That is so cool that our video brought back memories for your husband!! Every time we paddle that section of the Yough we see how far we can paddle up the creek. The Yough is. a beautiful river to paddle and wow the fish we see. Have fun with your children enjoying all the adventures & beauty on the Yough!!

The Mon is not bad paddling, but it only flows at 1/2 mile per hour due to the locks and dams. Has some good campsites. Barge traffic is not near as bad as 20 or 30 years ago.
    Try 10 Mile Creek.

Looks like a fun day trip. It reminds of my college days in Pittsburgh when I'd go canoeing rivers and streams like this with my cousins. So many options close to the 'Burgh. Pennsylvania and my home state of NY are so different for paddling. NY is full of lakes and ponds... where PA is all about the rivers and creeks. I have so many fond memories of paddling Slippery Rock Creek up around McConnell's Mill. On one trip (back when I had little fear) we folded our canoe in half around a boulder in some heavy rapids. Not our best moment... but a good story to tell now. Enjoy your summer... and make sure Kerry wears her sun screen 🙂

It's so cool how you have so many fond memories from around Pittsburgh. We were just thinking of "yinz" (as Matt would say), as this is the week one year ago we had an amazing adventure in the Adirondack Mountains!! Hope you are enjoying the summer too. We've been busy on the rivers/lakes around home and got away for a really cool week-long adventure on a lake and river in Kentucky. The hot weather is certainly keeping our summer adventures going!!

I don’t know if you made a camera change or maybe color grade? But the footage is looking good! I can tell a difference. Or I might just be crazy lol

Wow good eye!! I changed up the settings on my gopro 11 before this trip. My settings before had too wide of a view so I would zoom in on footage while editing in Adobe and that made the videos less crisp. I also changed the settings to rely on more color grading while editing. I'm editing our trips to clarion river, shenango river lake, and red river gorge now so those videos will have the old settings.

What GPS system do you use?

We use a Garmin watch. Also reference google maps and print out water trail maps depending on the trip.

Just got done kayaking 100 miles of the Allegheny from oil city. Met a guy named Wayne who was doing the entire Allegheny from coudersport. Have you done any longer trips on the River around here?

That's awesome, I was curious how your trip would go. How many days were you on the water? Did you have any trouble getting through the locks/dams as you got closer to Pittsburgh? Did you just have to give them a call when you got close?
I'd love to start up in coudersport and go all the way down the river. The sections on the Allegheny River that we've done are from Kinzua Dam down to President, Oil City down to East Brady, and around Allegheny Islands.

How long did it take to paddle this trip?

    • @peaks.and.paddles
      @peaks.and.paddles  5 месяцев назад +1

Took us 3 hours because we went very slow and stopped for lunch. You could do it under 2 hours if you wanted.

Did you gps mark all of the spots that need cleaned up, or do you just acknowledge them on every drift?

Some of those spots look sketchy. You definitely need to be abreast of your surroundings.

Your comments are pretty sketchy, you should probably keep more abreast of your tone
