- An interview with Steve Grom of G&L Guitars who gives some personal insight into Leo Fender's days in his office at G&L. Fender worked in his office until the day he died which has remained virtually untouched. Steve talks about Fender's passions and shows off some awesome guitar memorabilia he left behind.
Post haste! I work with a family music store that is a G&L dealer and has been for years. i've wanted desperately for you guys to produce some amazing stuff to not only express the unmatchable heritage but also the exciting things that your guys are currently producing! Keep them coming and so us die hards can spread the G&L gospel!
the best who ever did it. Thats why the greatest players ever (Jimi and Jaco) played his instruments. I always get choked up when i see clips about Leo. I've got decades of joy from his instruments
I have G&L guitar,and I love it so much.
My Life would have been nothing without Mr Léo.....thanks for all !!!! Every note i play is for you !!! RIP !....
F! Best comment here, man....
Excellent video. We had been dealers of G&L guitars for about 10 years. We own a music store in New Orleans. New Orleans Music Exchange. They are the finest instruments ever. I love my G&L Legacy with the Leo Fender signature (Tele style)
I love the way it sounds.
Patricia Glickman I have an asat from 1992 with the three bolt neck and its amazing.
Thanks for sharing this. I have two wonderful G&L guitars, and a Fender.
A fantastic keyhole-peep into one of the most respected workplaces in history! I could watch videos rummaging through Leo's lab for hours.
Such a cool video, thanks for posting it.
I'd like one of those G&L shirts he's got on. I love Fender and G&L products. You guys rock, thanks.
Makes perfect sense to me...I have a 1993 Legacy (clear red premier finish) in my stable. I did not even consider a Strat when I was looking for the sound when some gigs needed the "Strat quack".
hah., i own a legacy and am very proud of it !! added you guys a long time back expecting more videos and am really glad there is one :)
Cheers !!
It’s a shame G&L guitars cant be sold by the same vendors as Fenders are sold. I have both and don’t really know which one I prefer. The G&L is definitely a higher quality instrument.
I could watch hours of this.
Thanks . . . we're working on it! :)
You know what is strange? That nobody ever made and recorded an interview with Leo. I mean, the man became 91 years old so it seams there was plenty of time?
Calculating with inflation, 165 bucks in 1957 equals to $1326.99 today.
I play a Musicman Stingray II , 6 string sguitar, & I feel a little bit part of the family. I try to find me a F100 & I bought recently Jazzmaster, mexican, alas! little by little I'm goin' to own an ASAT
Hope you have one now!
That room is kinda eerie. It hasn't been touched since the man died.
Eerie, man. Real eerie.
Leo's workplace office still exists all the way from 1991..!! Twilight Zone stuff...wow man.
Leo INVENTED the electric bass.
I love my G&L Tely! It's not as attractive as the original (pickups, headstock) but it sounds better and plays better.
@gutenschneider You can buy G&L Guiutars from Hit Trax MIDI Files. We ship worldwide. Let us know which model you need. Cheers, Jackson.
I have G&L Tribute Legacy and it works perfectly. It cost only 700 USD
I noticed a pattern everyone who plays g and l don't really like fender and everyone who plays fender love it in my opinion they really aren't that different probably the biggest differences are that Fender are more well known so they hold their value more, but on terms of value they are pretty comprable
like xxxxxxx
G&L's are REAL Fenders, if that makes any sense.
Apparently, by reading some of the comments here it only makes sense to musicians that are looking for the best quality product and tone, and playabiity, quality, etc. Others only bitch about a logo....that's quite pathetic. Signed, an owner of numerous Fender Strats. My fave axe is my G&L Tele....no comparison.
okay so im just a kid but even I know that the g&l tele is awesome maybe better than the fender, it doesn't look as snazzy but who cares it is my favourite guitar ive ever played and has a great neck and great pickups
What part doesn't look as "snazzy"? The tiny extra curve in the headstock? LOL....omg....wtf?
I have to say, the original tele headstock is way sexier.
AMEN haha yeah that's what I was thinking
How much is my 1986 G&L Skyhawk worth?
Really? That's what you got from this?
nicestrat big LOL
its true...messiness is a sign of genius
Mr. Fender "Get back to work"
I love the sound/feel/ergonomics of a strat. G&L strats are fantastic, but the lettering/font on the headstocks of G&Ls drives me crazy. The logo itself is too bold and stark; the font for "legacy, asat" etc. is hideous. G&Ls feel great but the headstocks make them look cheap. Shaving a 1/3 inch off the tip of the headstock would also help to balance the look. Just my humble opinion, but compared to fender, the quality is there, the refined classic look is not. A shame.
I bet Eric Clapton wears whatever shoes he likes and doesn't worry if there's a Nike "swoosh" or not.....
