Jonny Lang is the most talented artist there has ever been in my opinion. Nothing makes my soul feel as touched as when I hear his music. I thank God for Jonny Lang' s music.
All right, all right...slow your roll here. Jonny is definitely an amazing musician and singer but to say he's "the most talented artist there's ever been" seems a bit disrespectful to a lot of people. First in line would be the guy who actually wrote this song (and recorded on his own album), Bruce McCabe (the guy you see playing piano in this video). I first saw Jonny when he was still known as "Kid Jonny Lang" and he'd travel to Minneapolis with his band and play at a place called Boondocks. Bruce played their regularly with his own band, The Hoopsnakes, and that's how he got to know Jonny. Jonny's greatest hits album is literally littered with Bruce's songs (Still Rainin', Wander this World, Rack 'em Up, Lie to Me...and this one, Irish Angel). Yea, Jonny is totally amazing but to say he's the best artist ever without recognizing that his best music was written by Bruce seems a bit much. :)
This guy is soooo talented. Few vocalist play a guitar with the skill of Jonny Lang. Mysteriously this song grabbed me like few songs ever have. I am 65 years old and like many genres of music but this version of this song by Jonny may well be my favorite song of all time. I too wish he would record it just so I could support him and buy it.
First time I ever heard this song was at Station Square in Pittsburgh, also the first time I ever cried in a concert. Thank You Jonny for what you do and doing it with all your might!
Now I’ll raise a glass, and then I’ll raise another. One to forget, and one to remember. Oh... and one to dream, of how things could have been, if I hadn’t lost my Irish angle ☘️ 😇
The greatest song writers and singers write and sing the way they do because their is a realness to the song. Most people don't really listen to the words of a song. If you actually take a moment and LISTEN, you will find a story. Music is an amazing gift!
I LOVE this song and don't understand why we never got it on a CD. I love his old band; I miss those early days with all the guys together. Bruce McCabe is an amazing songwriter and keyboardist and he and Jonny should be together again.
this is absolutely the most beautiful song my ears have ever heard it truely touches my soul and this mans voice melts my heart and brings tears to eyes, not to many musicians have this type of unique abiltiy to touch me the way his music does. thanks johnny hope we never loose your voice your words
I Dedicate this song to my Mother & Father ~ Today My Irish "Daddy~Doe" would Be 87 yrs.!!! Happy Birthday Daddy! I Love & Miss You Both So Much! Thanks Jonny for such a warm & touching rendition to this thoughtful song! Love is so beautiful like the Love my Parents Shared! ~ peace!
Music brings out emotions and memories. This is why some singers become great and some become legend. Justin Beiber sings happy pop songs and there's nothing wrong with that. Lang's songs try to invoke more than just "happy". His songs try to invoke more than one emotion and there's a price to that. Millions of people just want to be happy, while a few want to feel the whole gauntlet of human emotions. Both have their audience and both should be appreciated.
One of the most beautiful songs I’ve heard. I have loved Jonny since 14 years old. He was awesome then and still is. This song goes deep into my soul 🕊 His beautiful voice makes me feel like I’m In Ireland 🇮🇪💚☘️🍀💚 Jonny has always sang from his soul 🕊 Thank you for sharing this beautiful video and God Bless 🙏🏽
I saw Jonny Lang for the first time in Nashville opening for Sting a few years ago. Couldn't forget the voice and his guitar. I believe he was in his teens at the time. Amazing talent.
my family is Irish and Cherokee, and we have lost my niece last Jan,the 3rd was the beginning of a long nightmare,we took her off the machine on the 11th,I miss my Irish Angel so bad..I will never get over loosing such a sweet person..she was grown,(36) and had 3 children but she will always be my baby!!!
It's a song for everyone who has ever lost "the one" and for those who haven't too. I don't doubt you could hear a pin drop in Phoenix, well exept for the crying sniffles. I cry everytime I hear it. Thanks for posting.
Jonny Lang, I love you as an aspiring musician, you, yourself are an angel. I have listened to your music since I first saw you on a Talk Show when you were a kid.You are a work in progress.Here's to you........LOL Nancy
When my wife and I saw Johnny live a few years ago, we got to meet him and some of his bandmates after the show. My wife is Irish and we immediately fell in love with the song. We asked him about it and he said that his keyboard player had written the song. We really hope he includes it on one of his future releases.
This is one of my most favorite songs and this video is wonderful. I so wish Jonny and Bruce would be back together again. Bruce is the best songwriter, and Jonny is the best interpreter of his work. Just beautiful!!!
My favorite Jonny Lang song! I have been a fan since I saw him on "Austin City Limits" (1999 or 2000)! I was Blessed to see him sing this at a live show in Anaheim, CA. ~0;-)
This song was written by Bruce McCabe who is playing the piano in the song. Jonny never released this on any cd, but did sing it in concert. Bruce released it on his self-titled cd.
Every single song of jonny lang is superb..still cant believe he sang lie to me when he was 15..its 1000 times better than 15 years old justin bieber's baby !!!
This song was in my favorites over a year ago - and the video was removed. Thanks cyril for putting this back up there. The raw gut emotion just goes right through me.

You are right. The word "saudade" is a portuguese word, we are the only people who have this word. In english, the therm is "i miss you" ( to miss someone, something). "Saudade" describe perfectly my people.. we are "saudosos" (homesick), we are.. fado ! Fado(our music) portrays our way of being, our laments, our losses. We were the greatest empire in the XVI century, but... we are latins, we think that we are smarter than we really are !... i hate that on my people !!! That´s why we are 5th corruption ranking... such a beautiful country... we are one of the few countrys in the world that do not need this... united europe !!! What a wonderful comment!!! Bless you, and yours!!! I am the last in the line of countless generations of fishermen and sailors. Bruce McCabe wrote it. He is the keyboard performer on the video here. He was in Jonny's original band and wrote a lot of the older wonderful songs Jonny is known for. Two talents there who mesh beautifully.

Bruce McCabe wrote one of the most beautiful heartfelt songs ever written.

No one makes me feel the lyrics like Jonny.
This song was written by Bruce McCabe who is playing the piano in the song. Jonny never released this on any cd, but did sing it in concert. Bruce released it on his self-titled cd.
Since I've met Jonny when he was just a tyke (still is) at 14 playing at Hard Rock Cafe, I have always enjoyed his music immensly.
Sandy, I am so sorry for your loss. At least she is free of any pain and is at peace now.

Jonny Lang - Irish Angel Lyrics
In the fall of the year
She flew across the ocean
To ireland, the land of her fathers
When we said goodbye,
A tear was in her eye
I lost her then and there
My irish angel
The first letter came
She said she loved it there
And how much she wished
I was there with her
She wrote it on a hill
In the gentle irish rain
I saw her in my mind
My irish angel
I wrote her back and then
There was no second letter
Just the silence of the snow
That fell around me
I let her down I know
The day I let her go
Now she's found someone else
My irish angel
The first time I saw her
My heart went in a spin
When they speak of love
They call it falling
It was like I held my breath
'til I laid eyes on her agian
So beatiful she was
My irish angel
And when a stolen glance
Led to a stolen kiss
I thought I knew the
Chance that I was taking
I know I never knew
A love as strong as this
Or what it was to feel
My own heart breaking
So now I raise a glass
And then I'll raise another
One to forget
One to remember
And one just to dream
Of how things could have been
If I hadn't lost my irish angel
simply amazing. Just love Him!
“It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of ANNABEL LEE;
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me.
I was a child and she was a child,
In this kingdom by the sea;
But we loved with a love that was more than love-
I and my Annabel Lee;
With a love that the winged seraphs of heaven
Coveted her and me.
And this was the reason that, long ago,
In this kingdom by the sea,
A wind blew out of a cloud, chilling
My beautiful Annabel Lee;
So that her highborn kinsman came
And bore her away from me,
To shut her up in a sepulchre
In this kingdom by the sea.
The angels, not half so happy in heaven,
Went envying her and me-
Yes!- that was the reason (as all men know,
In this kingdom by the sea)
That the wind came out of the cloud by night,
Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee.
But our love it was stronger by far than the love
Of those who were older than we-
Of many far wiser than we-
And neither the angels in heaven above,
Nor the demons down under the sea,
Can ever dissever my soul from the soul
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee.
->For the moon never beams without bringing me dreams
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And the stars never rise but I feel the bright eyes
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side
Of my darling- my darling- my life and my bride,
In the sepulchre there by the sea,
In her tomb by the sounding sea.”
