- When we left Morocco there was no wind at all, but the forecast was showing strong winds - and as we went on it was building up fast.
The following day the wind shifted - it’s still way behind us but moved a bit from starboard to port so we had to switch our pole set up - from port to starboard.
To say the least - it was NOT an easy passage, and so far - the longest for my mom, who will be leaving us soon.

If you're still in the Canary Islands, check out Puerto Calero Marina on Lanzarote. And definitely swing by La Palma island, one of the prettiest islands on the planet. La Palma has it all...volcanoes, desert, amazing pine forests, jungles similar to SE Asia, beaches, great food...everything. Best marinas on the Islands are Rubicon (which you already know of course), Puerto Calero, San Sebastian (La Gomera), Tazacorte and Santa Cruz on La Palma, Mogan in the south of Gran Canaria and due to its central location Santa Cruz on Tenerife. Los Gigantes on Tenerife is nice too. Be careful with those acceleration zones between islands. I've seen wind increase from 5kts to over 40kts in the span of 5min on the southern tip of Gran Canaria for example ;)

Nice sail from Morocco to Canary Island, but wow great videoing as you definitely could see the waves were big. You didn't mention are whale friend when leaving Morocco or had you gone through it previously going to Morocco? Ken it's not like you to forget getting a deposit back from something and this time you did not get your 20 Euro's for returning key for toilets in Morocco. You are now going to have to ration yourselves on the Atlantic crossing lol. Enjoy yourselves in Canaries and catch you next video
We did talk about orca’s in previous video “ Morocco via Orca’s land” and yes - we had to provision ourselves due to that 20 euro deposit card 🤣
As usual, I enjoyed watching the latest episode. While watching, I realized that I don't recall you ever having talked about your watch strategy during passages. Do Ken and Zivile rotate watches or does Ken do the watches himself? I ask this because my wife and I have discussed how we might do passages with just the two of us. We have done two short offshore passages with another couple on board so we split the watches four ways. Two ways is more challenging. What advice can you give for passagemaking as a couple?
We both do watches 50/50 sometimes every 2 hours, sometimes different time intervals depending on how we feel. And we are very diligent setting radar, AIS radars. Experience showd that technology 90% of times sees better than us
