I never got the o.t.t hate for this guy. Not every episode can be a smash out of the park! Some of this man's writing has genuinely changed me as a person for the better and for that, I thank you Mr Moffat. No matter how much the haters deny it, you will be missed.
Lisa Rodrigues Funnily enough, another criticism by anti-Moffat fans is that he has a "nasty habit" of bringing characters back from the dead. The guy just can't win apparently.
Anon Ymes The reasons for why he receives hate is that his dialogue and plots are just shocking. He creates characters that overshadow the doctor, resulting in them becoming annoying. He relies way too much on old practises ie Easter eggs leading to a grand finish (Bad Wolf, YANA, etc.), and kills characters off who are underdeveloped and unliked in the first place... then brings them back to pander to the horrendous audience the show has acquired. Before you go SJW, couple years ago EVERYONE I knew watched the show and now no one does. Check the yearly viewership and ratings then tell me why you don’t understand why he’s hated.
Moffat always got, way, way, WAY too much hate. Some fans treated him like he was the literal devil. Hopefully in time the fanbase will appreciate what he brought to the show.
Do you read what you write before pressing the button? Just what kind of show do you believe Doctor Who is? It is a family orientated science fiction drama with emphasis on the FAMILY! Do you not feel a little pride when you see the next generation of fans? When you see a little boy wearing a fez waving a toy sonic, do you not feel anything other than how dare he? My inner child sticks it's tongue out at you!
For those who love Heaven Sent. Here's something you need to know it BTS (Behind the scenes). Steven Moffat was working on The Pyramid at the End of the World at his mother's bedside as she passed away. You could literally say that HS wasn't just The Doctor's way of dealing with grief, but also Moffat's own way of outpouring his own feeling. Now love or hate the man, Moffat did gave us the hell of highs an' lows for over a decade. Kudos to the man who has learnt a long deserving break.
Thank you Moffat for creating some of the most amazing characters in Doctor Who. 'Blink' made me, and many friends, a fan. And I was very excited when I first heard you were taking over from Davies, and was sad to hear that you're leaving. Thank you for the brilliant run!
Wishing all the best to Steven. I loved the entire storyline of Amy, Rory, and River Song. Watching Matt Smith and all the energy and humor he brought to the part was a blast. The weeping angels were a very creative idea...and creepy!
I still remember fondly watching 'The Eleventh Hour', my enthusiasm for the show rekindled. Like any era in any major TV series, it has had its ups and downs, but overall Moffat has had a wonderful run. He and Capaldi both bowed out on a high with 'World Enough and Time' and 'The Doctor Falls', which remains one of my favourite finales of the new series. 'Twice upon a Time' was a lovely after note to complete the story. I would like to think that he will change his mind about not ever writing for the show again, but he is absolutely right that Chris needs time to establish himself. It has been really insightful learning from behind the scenes media like this of how difficult it is to run Doctor Who. There so many competing commitments and demands to juggle. You get the impression that it takes so much out of you. It is something that us fans just take for granted. Thank you, Steven, for your hard work and contribution to the show over the years. I'm looking forward to the next video and hopefully finding out more about Moffat's plans for leaving.
Actually,I like the Weeping Angels the best of the monsters. I don't expect Daleks to show up or Cybermen, but whenever one sees a statue of a grey angel, the thought crosses your mind. It might move?
Whenever I visit a gallery or museum with Renaissance sculptures I always take some pictures of them and edit the brightness and saturation so they look like weeping angels.
The weeping angels are now a classic monster, I hope they are used like the Daleks and Cybermen in the future, I love them. Best thing to come out of the new series.
I think that one thing that Doctor Who is sorely missing right now is the clever, timely-wimey, and witty writing in the style of Steven Moffat. Chris Chibnall is resorting to the simplistic, accessible side of Doctor Who; which in some ways can be fine, but I NEED some challenging and confusing stories.
Yep! RTD was more consistent in his era but when Moffat killed his timey winey stories he KILLED them. Also like his version of the doctor as a mad man in a box more.
This interview is the BEST interview of the show runner’s writing and thoughts I have seen. This interview extends the enjoyment of reading about the show runner’s work as revealed in Russell T. Davies and Benjamin Cook’s book, The Writer’s Tale. Looking forward to Part 2. Much appreciation to Steven Moffat for his time with the show.
Well this was hilarious to watch. :D Can't wait for part 2. Doctor Who has been a part of my life for so long, and the majority of that, Steven has been in charge of it. I'm going to miss him... The ups and the downs and the bits in between. All of it. but I'm also super excited about what is coming next. I also love these kind of behind the scenes stories, they're amazing.
I'm suddenly having the realization that this man won't be writing the next episode of Doctor Who. And it is likely that he will never write another episode. Mate, I'm missing him already. Moffat's era was the one I watched first, and it is a well know field for me. Like coming back to the same extraordinary building every year. And now it is not there anymore. :(
10:35 I like the part where Christel asks Steven how he feels about leaving an indelible mark on Doctor Who history with the Weeping Angels. I like the new profile photo and banner by the way.
What a great man! He gave us so many good stories, and took Doctor Who to a very good place. Hope he'll have fun going forward, and maybe return for some episodes in the future!
Empty child and the doctor dances were so amazing! And the first two episodes I ever watched before I went back and watched the whole season from the beginning.
Geronimo Steven! Thanks for all your hard work and emotional, fun optimism in your story telling farewell and great luck in your next adventure in space and time!! #stevenmoffat #doctorwho #11thdoctor #12thdoctor
As is the nature of us all, now that Steven Moffat is gone, we begin to truly appreciate his work on Doctor Who. Give it a year or two and he will turn to the "best writer of DrWho" and his loss will be the greatest tragedy in the history of the show. Now to hate on the new showrunner Chris Chibnall...
I know not everyone agrees and that’s just fine but I genuinely love Moffat’s run with the show, a few slip ups can’t beat the mountain of greatness that was series 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10 (in my opinion of course) Moffat you are the GOAT
The Empty Child and The Doctor Dances are two episodes I still refuse to watch out of fear. I remember watching it for the first time when I was 6 (18 now) and I ran out of the room when that Doctor sat in the chair transformed. Terrifying but brilliant!
My 2 favourite Doctors are The Eleventh and Twelfth Doctor’s for their writing among other things. I’ll miss Moffat for all of the good episodes he produced. Yes, he did write one or two bad ones, but I love his writing.
I love the questions you've asked Steven. I'm a big fan of him from Coupling, Jekyll, Press Gang, Sherlock, Tin Tin etc. One of the most appealing things I love about his Doctor Who stories were the time travel aspect because I've always loved any show with time travel. It always felt like I was a kid watching with glee. When I think back to some of my favourite eps (even in the RTD era), they were often written by Steven. Blink, the Girl in the Fireplace and The Beast Below plus all the xmas eps were my favourites. I love the female characters he's created but I also think that are all modeled on Sue Vertue. I loved RTD too and I loved him writing Torchwood. There were eps I didn't quite like but overall I loved everything they've done with Doctor Who. I honestly can't wait to see where Chris Chibnall and Jodie Whitaker take the series! And I am excited to see other projects that Steven will do now that he's been released from Doctor Who! I hope that him and Mark get to do the Dracula series they mentioned... thanks for this lovely interview :)
It was amazing Steven. Although you couldve tweaked season 10 juuust a bit, but everything else was top notch. Pitch perfect 👌. Good luck in the future!
Prof. Evil Pictures I actually enjoyed the monk episodes but i didnt really like that they mentioned several internet things. So that couldve been different.
Prof. Evil Pictures I really liked Extremis and The Lie of the Land. But the last one? How many times does Moffat need to use the power of love or memories or something to save the Earth
You know how all doctors go through a cycle of appreciation after every regeneration? Well I think show runners( including RTD and Moffat) go through that as well. As the Chibnall era ends, people are going to miss the timey-wimey albeit inconsistent story arcs and brilliant stories Moffat was popular for just as how people missed RTD's relatively down to earth stories and relatable characters when the Moffat era started
Seeing what Chibnal did in his first season proves the genius of Moffat 11th hour to name so many amazing episodes in his first season never mind that the library 2 parter is one of the best Who stories ever in budget writing acting monsters Dr who history future death of a character we haven't met yet 👌👌👌👌👌that's time travel
I’ll miss Moffat’s self-deprecation and wit, and ridiculously clever ideas! Congratulations on 1m!
Haters: He thinks he's so clever, f*ing prick!
Moffat: *literally always self-deprecating, but ok
I never got the o.t.t hate for this guy. Not every episode can be a smash out of the park! Some of this man's writing has genuinely changed me as a person for the better and for that, I thank you Mr Moffat. No matter how much the haters deny it, you will be missed.
Tyler Bailey people hate him because he has ruined a great show with awful characters and scripts.
He has a nasty habit of killing off popular characters.
Lisa Rodrigues Funnily enough, another criticism by anti-Moffat fans is that he has a "nasty habit" of bringing characters back from the dead. The guy just can't win apparently.
Lisa Rodrigues really. If anything my main criticism is he cant kill anyone off
Anon Ymes The reasons for why he receives hate is that his dialogue and plots are just shocking. +1111111
Genius is rarely appreciated in its time. :)
Florence Flowers he struggled with the large arcs but as an ep writer he was brilliant.
He deserved it completely awful writer that turned The Show into a Childish Abomination
Congrats on 1 mil, and, Moffat, congrats on an amazing run 👏👏👏
Thanks! 💙💙
TardisArmyMax it’s far from an amazing run
@@bazinga743 ever heard of an opinion?
@@bazinga743 Someone’s mad they didn’t get a reply from Doctor Who

Doctor Who 1 milons hurura I love doctor who with Sarah jane
I loved curse of fatal death, very funny and I think Rowan Atkinson would of made a great doctor.
Adrian Preston: I agree...Rowan would be an interesting Doctor. I also like Bill Nighy ...or maybe Freddie Highmore in the future.
Congrats on 1 million subscribers!

there is an angel's statue in my garden, my mother brought it to home and it seems like it moves when I don't look... I am dead, right?
Kaathe and Frampt
No, but you might get sent a couple 50-ish years back in time

The way he talking abt falling in love, his definition of scary stuffs etc , I couldnt agree more. This man is truly amazing
Good job, Moffat, writing some of my favorite episodes.
He is without a doubt one of the best writers in tv history and I will always be thankful for what he did for the show
Goodbye Moffat you will be missed
goodbye moffat,, i love you so much and you'll be so missed!!
We're gonna miss you, Moffat
Please come back - ALL IS FORGIVEN !!!!!! He really did get way too much hate - far more than he deserved.
The weeping angels are now a classic monster, I hope they are used like the Daleks and Cybermen in the future, I love them. Best thing to come out of the new series.

Best villians ever imo
The way he talks about love is amazing. He must really love his wife.
No wonder I love River's story. I love the time travelers wife. Great book.

A River Song Ending.
Love it.

Weeping Angels and Vashta Nerada for me are the scariest ones.
I mean, there are the good ones, the great ones, and then there is Steven Moffat.
1 million subscribers fantastic
John Townson ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!
Xtra Spice Mikey Disney will never get it's hands on Doctor who it British and you never give Doctor who to America's because they may screw it up.
Anyone can screw Doctor Who up. The BBC certainly have on occasion. It mainly depends on the writing behind it.
This is SUCH a good interview.
This is an excellent interview, nice job Christel :D
Thank you Steven, it was amazing to have you as a showrunner and writer! I really hope you come back in the Chibnall era
Jay Tender he might write some epic episodes then like he did under RTD
