About GU Screenwriting Society:
Our society was formed in order to establish a creative community where people from all different skill-types, experience and knowledge levels can learn how to write a screenplay and then put their new knowledge into practice through group activities and workshops. Our aim is for all our members to grow and learn in collaboration with their fellow writers.
We meet on campus every Tuesday of the academic year. Our normal meetings usually involve a presentation by one of our committee members on some aspect of screenwriting or storytelling in general, whether that be format, structure, characterisation, dialogue etc., followed by a group activity designed specifically so that we can all hone in the skills or practices involved in the presentation. On top of that, we host fortnightly comedy writers rooms, where our members get to workshop and comedy sketch ideas and write short scripts, as well as fortnightly table read sessions, where our members get to have their scripts read out loud by other members and receive valuable and helpful feedback.
Additionally, we have various other types of events spread throughout the year, such as quizzes, screenings and socials, all revolving around films and TV series. Finally, we host special events, such as screenwriting competitions, film showcases, and our GUSS Yearly Awards, while we also take part in external film festivals like the 48 Hour Film Project, in which we won awards for Best Writing and Best Film in 2021, among others.
Moffat is so charming and self deprecating in intervews, I love that despite his talent he doesn't take himself seriously at all.
Best writer to have graced Doctor Who. Series 5-6 were some of the best TV I've ever seen. Thanks from America!
Moffat is so good at interviews, he always underplays his talents and I think that's a great quality. I think he did a wonderful job with both Doctor Who and Sherlock and it's really great to have him back in the Whoniverse!
That "make three jokes and blame yourself" advice is so good.
You are not that old we love you
i could listen to steven moffat talk for hours. funny and insightful!
Incredibly interesting, thank you for sharing this!
love your videos!
It's those damn weeping angels turning the lights out again.
I also loved “time travelers wife!”
Huge missed opportunity not saying "Hey who turned out the lights" at the beginning when it went dark.
Oh, look. "I don't remember the story, I remember myself telling the story" was what Douglas Adams always said about his story of himself lying on a lawn in Austria and thinking that someone should write a hitchhicker guide to the galaxy...
0:20 _"Well, Steven, what a welcome back to your alumnus"_ - The term he needed was "alma mater", which is the college/university in which an "alumnus" (former student) was taught.
0:34 "rupturous" applause?
I was nervous ok...😂 Bloody pedant.
@@williamcaldwell5159 "Help, help! I'm being repressed!" - "Bloody pedant!" ;)
The Weeping Angel question, again!? He's told that story so many times!
My mate asked that question he didn't really know what to ask so he just asked about the weeping angels because he loves them
@@dontfeedtheyaoguai8021 There's a follow up nobody asks. He's told the first bit of the angel idea a ton. But he's never explained where he got the idea for "the image of an angel becomes an angel".
Absolutely brilliant man i can't believe i got to ask him the very last question :)
Funny that. Fawlty Towers too marked the end of John Cleese's marriage...

This needs a better sound mix.
Give the man some more water...
I like cranky no shits given Moffat.
When I see Steven's name on a series, I know I'm going to enjoy it. Stay true, Steven! (unless you've been brainwashed by "the message", which case, don't bother.)
🎉
Whrn was this happened
Last week.
Mildly dissapointed by the AI take but a brilliant interview nonetheless
He basically just said that the good stuff like medical advances will outweigh the fact writers might lose jobs - fair take I'd say.
Please can you provide me a timestamp for this part?
@@Nightwing-bh2tnThat, and commented on how AI generated content is generally terrible, albeit entertaining.
It sounded like one of his sons works in some kind of AI-related field, so... probably best not to attack it.
@@Mowingthefrontlawnyeah it sounded like a balancing act cause he said AI developers are amazingly clever while also saying it'll never take off and everything the AI produces is terrible. so I think he was probably softening his words but the intention comes through
to little to late! dr who is beyond saving
Before the Christmas special was over, RUclips was full of videos about the "fiasco". In a few weeks it turned out it was the most watched drama of the day. Keep dreaming, dude.
