Excellent video. It brings back some great memories. I lived in Sydney until 1981 and travelled on the trains there regularly, especially through the city circle. It was great seeing the entrance and exit tunnels at Museum, which I always found as quite unique.
Transport Sydney It’s definitely fun seeing a rare sight. Tangaras used to be fairly common on the City Circle, but ever since the introduction of the Waratah A sets, Tangaras have now mostly been confined to the T4 Eastern Suburbs/Illawarra lines, with some on the T1 lines as well.
Sydney Trains Vlogs Guess what, today (20/2/15) at Fairfield Station on my school excursion to the City, I've seen quite a few S Sets on my way there. At Fairfield, I first saw two 4-Car S Sets running the Cumberland. And then luckily, on my way back to Cabramatta from St James, I got on an 8-Car S Set running on the South Line back. So very lucky day for me even though I don't like S Sets. By the way, I though you were going to reply to our questions on Thursdays, but you didn't.
Sinclair Suhood Hornsby sectors have become more common on the T4 line because S sets got withdrawn from the line recently, and their slots were filled by Hornsby sector Tangaras because they had to make way for Waratah A sets.
DiabaseDog XXI It’s because the Tangara T sets (and former G sets) have a Chopper Control motor. C sets also use it, and coupled with them having fixed seating identical to Tangara T sets, these often caused C sets to be nicknamed “Choppers” or “Prototype Tangaras”.
curious that those trains terminates in Central, where do they go after off loading passengers? Do the trains have a smoko somewhere before the next job?
Hey Phil. I'm new to your Sydney Train Vlogs and these Sydney trains. I've enjoyed your videos very much. Please help me understand something , why are the M, S and T trains a combination of 2 sets of 4 cars? Was the combination a new thing after the 8 car A train came online or was it a in place before that? If this has been going on for a while, why didn't they build them as 8 cars instead of a 4? If you've answered this in another video I apologize.
eWorkx They’ve been using 8 car configurations involving two 4 car sets together for years, and the guard operates from the middle, usually on the first carriage of the rear set. Waratahs are different as they are a permanent 8 car set, meaning the guard operates from the rear carriage, while passengers can walk all the way through the whole train. In the past, they sometimes operated 6 car services, these were usually one R Set or two L Sets together, both of which were S Set variants. When L and R Sets were getting retired, some of the carriages on them were formed into 4 car S Sets. L Sets were 3 car consists, while R Sets were 6. So to sum it up, most of the fleet are 4 car configurations, such as Millennium M Sets, OSCAR H Sets, Tangara T Sets, Intercity V Sets and the silver S, K and C Sets. These usually run as an 8 car set of two 4 car sets together on most suburban runs. As V and H Sets run mostly on intercity lines, they can run services as either 4 or 8 cars. Waratahs (A and B Sets) are instead a non-divisible 8 car set, which means they always run as a full 8 car set.
Griffin A sets are yellow at the front with orange highlights on the guard/driver compartment doors. B sets (Series 2) have orange/black on the front with the Sydney Trains logo, and have black parts on the side. Both have yellow doors with rectangular shaped windows. Interior-wise, the destination indicator screens are displayed in a dot matrix format for A sets or digital for B sets.
13 terminating for NSW Trainlink, Intercity and Regional, 2 under construction for Sydney Metro Northwest/Bankstown and 10 suburban platforms. There’s are 2 unused platforms.
Sydney Trains And Planes Vlogs Mostly Waratahs and Millennium M sets, but some S, K and C sets occasionally run as well. Basically, every suburban fleet except the Tangara.

Transport Sydney It’s definitely fun seeing a rare sight. Tangaras used to be fairly common on the City Circle, but ever since the introduction of the Waratah A sets, Tangaras have now mostly been confined to the T4 Eastern Suburbs/Illawarra lines, with some on the T1 lines as well.

nice video, really good I also like trains, the french SNCF ones
I caught an off sector mortdale tangara between chatswood and hornsby.
There has been a lot of off sector action lately :)
On that note, I've also noticed a lot of Hornsby based Tangaras running on the T4 line lately
rileyef
Sinclair Suhood Hornsby sectors have become more common on the T4 line because S sets got withdrawn from the line recently, and their slots were filled by Hornsby sector Tangaras because they had to make way for Waratah A sets.
the double decker class train :-)
?
that central special service which was 1 car i think its a track inspector
Tangaras have a quite beautiful accelerating sound.
+XenoFile2001 That is coming from their Chopper Control traction motor :)
Nice! Hello from Brazil :)
Great job
Thank you :)

Good video.
Very Rarely, A Tangara Runs On T2 Airport&East Hills Line. Why Does It Do That?
Ive seen this a lot lately.
They were probably replacing a Waratah.
Sydney Trains Vlogs
@@sydneytrainsvlogs It's very likely that was the case. Tangaras usually only operate on Sector 2 as a backup if another train isn't available.
Happy birthday tito Joeval
Happy birthday Tito Jerry Brown
Can you do a video at woonoona train station it’s in NSW
I like Circular quay and I have been there before
when you look at the photo when you wanna watch this vlog, you see T129. T129 is ex G29
I like how Museum has for filled it's name, as it IS the museum now.
Tanki Divide it's named after the australian museum across the park next to Sydney grammar
Tanki Divide Museum station’s name is supposed to be a reference to the nearby Australian Museum.
This would be good for rush hour when it's really packed all those exits at museum
So would that a51 be short for area 51?
thank you phil
I’ve actually seen v sets on the city circle line and it’s not that common to see v sets or tangaras
Its 6:46 now I didnt think it was that time already

Jump on the Waratah?
What is the difference between different types of waratahs?
