I know in the freight industry negotiating load rates and dead head miles is frequent, but for auto haulers dealing with brokers and load boards it's pretty much non exsistant. As an O/O when I sign onto a broker I have a lengthy carrier agreement with clause after clause of what I can and cannot do. I'm not saying I can't call my broker and ask for a better rate usually it wont happen, I get the "we are all in on this load" or " the order is to new to justify a rate increase" Some of my brokers that I have worked with on an almost daily basis will work with me and give me a little more if I can deliver well before the due date or if the load is hot and not many carriers run that particular lane. As for dead head I have never successfully negotiated a rate increase and from time to time had to turn down a load. I know they are in it to make money but so I am I we all are and if it's gonna cost me more to run my truck then the truck can make, it's not worth it. The other big issue and I'm not sure if it happens with expediting or hot shot freight is other carriers agreeing to ship loads at well below market rates because either they don't know any better or they don't have the overhead operating costs that most carriers do. It's a tricky game and yes Jason it can cost you a load and even cost you a nice back-haul or two.
I'm so sad your not gonna be at the expo but I understand. I still plan on going for the day, if I do I will make sure I take a lot of pics and do some videos. Hopefully next year will allow all of us to meet up and colaborate on a cool vid. Have a great 4th of July holiday. Take care Y'all

The Auto Hot-Shot Thanks so much for sharing how things work for you. I'm sure where we are going we may not be able to negotiate as much since we will be dealing with brokers/agents verses company dispatchers. We are so bummed that we won't make the Expo we were really looking forward to it. Since it's taken this long to get going at the new carrier we just can't afford any more time off after orientation. I really hope we get to meet up with you before next years Expo .. sometime out on the road. You be safe & have a Happy 4th!! 😊

I believe everything happens for a reason. It was time to make the move and I believe both you and Jason made the right decision. Y'all going on a great new adventure and I'm quite sure myself along with everyone else who watches your vlogs are just as excited to go with you. As for the expo there will be more in the future. Maybe next year we could even do MATS in Louisville. Enjoy your 4th and can't wait to see some more drone footage. Take Care

There are many factors in starting a freight brokering business. One place I discovered which succeeds in merging these is the Ajana Broker Blueprint (google it if you're interested) it's the no.1 blueprint that I've heard of. look at the amazing information .

Makes me wonder what the point in a contracted rate is if they never pay that contracted rate LOL.
