  • Most owner operators enjoy driving a truck and owning their own business. But these same drivers cringe when it comes to negotiating for freight. Why? Because most of them aren’t prepared to negotiate successfully.
    Learn from industry experts the secrets of negotiating for profitable rates. Join them as they discuss the six questions you should be asking yourself.
    1. Are you prepared when a broker calls?
    2. Do you know the five items on the “before negotiating checklist”.
    3. When a broker offers you a rate, what questions do you ask?
    4. What is a fair rate to ask for?
    5. Where do I find negotiating tools?
    6. What about a Broker Carrier Agreement?
    This program will help you build on your skills for finding profitable loads.

    That's the Biggest issue on hand here .The broker is not the employer the The broker is a middleman between the actual employer at the person performing the work. .It is not the brokers money to take a large cut out of just because there is a high truck to ratio .We need to regulate you brokers to a certain amount per transaction no matter what the transaction is. .Brokers should not be making thousands and thousands of dollars for making a few phone calls. .Brokering a load Should pay about $200 that's it .

    Its like anything else.. competition with foreigners who come to the USA who work cheap..because One dollar a mile seems like a lot to them.. where they are from they get paid 10 usd a day as a laborer. They believe they hit the mother load driving a truck here. Its that way in all the trades, you cannot compete or get paid good anymore due to someone out bidding you, doing it as cheap as possible. They are willing to work for pennies on the dollar. The model now is less money but more volume, less pay but more loads..

    Nowadays truckers are scared to ask for more money and are afraid to say NO i cant afford to run it for that low.

    Come on guys you don't have time to research every little detail on the road. Anyone working ONLY out of their truck better know their total costs per mile to the penny and know the questions to ask on the fly because the really good paying loads last for mins on the load boards. This is why DAT gives you the best shot at getting a quality load quickly. I'm lucky I have my wife (the warden) working at the home office with multiple screens posting the truck/scanning multiple load boards for every little detail and getting the older posted loads at really good last minute "It has got to go ASAP" pricing. When the brokers call the warden they better drop the drama and have their poop in a pile because the warden will have the facts and tools like OOIDA and DAT offer.

    What I want to use the internet for is to get all truck drivers in North america to go to those Carrier job recruitment pages or Kijiji job postings and give a reply with only "Pay? Pay? Pay? Pay? Pay? Pay? ...". I would be curious to see if after 6 months, the industry gets the hint when such a high % of the replies to their ads are full of spam just stating "Pay? Pay? Pay? Pay? Pay? Pay? Pay? ....". So sick of seeing truckers getting fucked around when they are the ones with the true power. It's just they are all divided and feel alone. There is no reason to feel that way, just look online or ask any 5 truckers how they feel. The internet is the perfect tool to make a movement bigger than any Union.

    If they fail to give me clean bills i call the police and report a theft. Damaged goods would be negligent vandalism. The key here is to have your trailer sealed and documented. You need to call the police and file a report before you leave the receiver. Damaged goods overages and shortages is not my problem. Signed sealed delivered...... They sign my invoice before they break the seal..... That is Proof of Delivery....

    Yes it is very easy to say no to cheap Freight .It's also very easy to make a conscious rational Honorable and ethical decision to say no to Cheap freight .Deadheading is just part business it is a big expense. .When you refuse to say no to cheap trade and take it anyways thinking at Lisa's defrag or cost of operating you are enabling those bad actors in the marketplace who are pocketing the difference and literally stealing money from you and everybody else in the market place would you enable by saying yes to cheap rate .Don't do it and educate as many other people as possible why they should always on their every circumstance say no to cheap freight .Even if it means pulling money out of savings to do it

    • @iamOAKland
      @iamOAKland 5 лет назад +2

      Cody Davis and then you keep hauling cheap freight when your truck breaks down you still won’t have the money to fix it right? You are operating on cheaper runs that’s below your operating costs... I guess you run your business like the Titanic slow and steady to ground.

      @Rusty Climber What do immigrants have to do with your inability to survive in this or any business? So you have a problem with brokers, who are most likely white males, or you have a problem with immigrants? What freedom do you know so well that the rest of the people don't? Man I've seen dumb logic before but you take the cake. Nothing makes you happy, everyone is your enemy, it's everyone else's fault. You do realize that real Americans don't blame their lack of success in their business on other people right? Lot of white dudes making good money in this business regardless of how many immigrants are "taking over". Idiot did you realize you come from immigrants too? Who did your ancestors displace then? Did that stop you from a successful life today? No. You're choices brought you to where you at, you entitled ass.

    • @TheXxmadmanxxkkk
      @TheXxmadmanxxkkk 5 лет назад

      @@metaparcel 1) Immigrant does not mean "non white" 2) Immigrants often come in large numbers, illegally, and take over markets that rely on cheap labor and low skilled work, and that's bad when native people lose jobs due to a large mass of immigrants coming in, it's an oversupply of work force, making the job less paid as well 3) America has no obligation to share its resources with the rest of the world because it is prosperous. 4) Nobody has any problems with good people that come legally, do good work and contribute to the American civilization, they have issues with lazy, no good people that take government handouts, aren't productive at all, and don't integrate into society. So, Eddie, maybe change your perspective before you call someone an idiot, you stupid, stuck up judgmental coastal cunt. And FUCK YOU for ever uttering the phrase "white male" you racist, brainwashed dumbass.

You really think anyone in america, who also got through the hoops to hold a CDL, is going to work for that cheap? I didnt even mention insurance costs. They pay me by the HOUR! This way if i get held up it doesnt cost me money. I also require all brokers to deposit a retainer amount into my account before my truck moves. Same as the way Attorneys bill customers. This lump sum retainer will more than cover any fuel and tire repair expenses to get the job done. My final bill is then calculated after i add up the hours it took to complete the load. My truck does not move unless i get 100 dollars per hour with a retainer deposited into my account. No need to negotiate that is what it what my services cost. Take it or leave it.

DAT you are the problem not the driver.The drivers are just trying to survive you people are taking advantage of the driver.
