I've always loved the BATs but, this one just doesn't do it for me for some reason. I aged out of collecting the ARAH line before the Iron Grenadiers came along but, the Classified IGs look pretty good. I'll probably grab one or two of them. Maybe I just need one in hand to appreciate them more.
Always loved a BAT. That and Alley-Viper were my gateways into Classified. Itching for a Night-Viper. I love the OG BAT. This one would be second with Arctic third. Who is Python patrol actually for? I'm really tempted by this IG BAT but that chest mechanic is boring and highlighted by a rubbish see-through chest plate. A couple of weird choices that might equal a pass from me.
I'm basing my opinion of the original comic line, but I think the B.A.T. should never be part of Destro's clan because of it not being his technology. Destro takes pride in his munitions and creations. He and his M.A.R.S. team would design something else and not copy the B.A.T. design. A lot of newer fans don't realize that he never was a true Cobra since he is an arms dealer (it's why he has never worn the Cobra logo) that happens to supply Cobra. But he does supply arms to other factions. I was always disappointed that Scrap-Iron was not used more when the Iron Grenadiers storyline came about since he works for Destro, not Cobra. Anyways, this is why I hate repaints (and variants). Nothing but a cash grab by Hasbro (Arctic BAT, Crimson BAT, etc). Python Patrol, Tiger Force, Slaughter's Maruaders, etc. are "cheap" cash grabs. I do appreciate new characters like Shooter and Wolf Spider, but are these characters going to have a "normal" outfit (which I prefer) than the Night Force color scheme? Good review.
I've got this one and the Iron Grenadier pre-ordered, but I'm not sure if I'll go through with the purchase. They look just a little too gaudy for my taste. I knew they'd sell out though, so I secured them on pre-order. Lol! If I get them, I'm going to put the clear chest plate on my standard BAT, as well as the red face plate head. They had red face plates in the classic cartoon, and I've always thought that looked neat. I'll just paint the small details to match the standard BAT. Outside the classic version, my favorite so far has been the Arctic BAT. Mainly because of that cool chest rig it has.
It's too bad that the texture on its uniform distorted the print of the iron grenadiers logo .I still think the colors pop and I ordered 3 of them to add to my collections of B.A.T.s
I got 3, one to display with the full robot head and two with the classic head. Now to find a IG decal for the chest plate. Good to get the ups & downs before I get a figure. Great review as always sir.
I enjoy any and all versions of the Battle Android Trooper. It was the toy I began my understanding of the same character troop building. I didn’t do it with Star Wars as a kid. Mostly in Joes I got different guys. However that Sunbow introduction of Sarge taking on a battalion of these guys had me buy more than one as a kid. Now. I do love these crazy BATs I hope they branch out with new attachments. If not 3rd party has me covered. Good looks good on the IG Bats. I agree a solid plate with IG logo would have been welcome. I already bought some 3rd party sculpted ones. I will get Four or six. Depends on availability and funds.
I know some people are tired of repaints, but I wouldn't mind seeing a "cobra blue" BAT in this line. Since they seem to be doing them for every theme ( crimson, arctic, IG, etc ) I'm like "why not?" Lol. Easy army builder.
That BAT is troop builder I'll buy all repaints of, but such a miss with that clear chest piece. An IG logo chest would have done a lot for it being in Destro's faction.

All I wanna know is if the chainsaw fits into the side peg of the backpack. This was a fail on the Arctic bat.

All the gold plastic makes me shudder from all the horror stories ive heard from vintage collectors lol
it disintegrates but that was a different type of gold swirled plastic. we will find out in 25 years lol

Stick the red helm on the OG figure for that cartoon look ;) Still got two on order but the 100% reuse is lazy imo.
I go a little easier on the sublines, 3 Grenadiers and 3 IG Bats on the way.
