Welcome to our educational lecture where we delve into the complexities of iron studies in the context of pediatric anemia. This comprehensive session is designed for healthcare professionals, medical students, and anyone interested in understanding the nuances of diagnosing and managing low hemoglobin levels in children.
    What You'll Learn:
The Role of Iron Studies: A detailed exploration of iron studies, including serum iron, ferritin, total iron-binding capacity (TIBC), and transferrin saturation. Learn how to interpret these values effectively.
Differential Diagnosis: How to differentiate between iron deficiency anemia and other forms of anemia in children using iron studies.
    Who Should Watch:
    Healthcare Professionals
    Pediatricians and Hematologists

I just realized that there is a small mistake in my slide, which should be READ as THAT WITH LOW SERUM FERRITIN, IN PURE IRON DEFICIENCY ANEMIA , TRANSFERRIN IS EITHER NORMAL OR HIGH, and in IDA PLUS SOME INFECTION, TRANSFERRIN IS USUALLY LOW. Therefore it should be read as such. While making this slide, the opposite was written which is wrong. So please rectify as such while watching and listening to this video. Thanks

First thank you for nice video ..regarding transferritin is another intetity rather than iron binding capacity and what is differance between them

Depending on the labs, different labs use different indicators. Mostly these days serum Transferrin or transferrin saturation is used instead of TIBC. TIBC and transferrin saturation are determined using calculations and they have their specific formulas. Nevertheless Transferrin is used in place of TIBC. And just realized that there is a mistake in my slide, which should be READ as THAT WITH LOW SERUM FERRITIN, IN PURE IRON DEFICIENCY ANEMIA , TRANSFERRIN IS EITHER NORMAL OR HIGH, and in IDA PLUS SOME INFECTION, TRANSFERRIN IS USUALLY LOW. Therefore it should be read as such. While making this slide, the opposite was written which is wrong. So please rectify as such while watching and listening to this video. Thanks
