They all are. Jim casts a huge shadow. A lot of people don't realize 90 percent of their bass lines are played with 1 of Rays hands while he goes absolutely wild with all the keys we hear playing with his other hand. That is INSANE to me.
The Doors are the greatest American band, I grieve for Morrison and for the decades of creativity & musical/lyrical innovation that these guys were robbed of...
Believe it or not, even if Jim Morrison hadn't died, there was a real possibility that he'd quit the music business. His drunken behavior was way out of control by the time he left for Paris & one of the biggest reasons he went there in the 1st place was to try & get his act together. Trust me, I myself wish that Jim hadn't died & would've loved to see The Doors last for at least another 5 to 10 more years. But realistically, who knows if Morrison would've made it to 30 years old with the lifestyle that he had.

So damn good if it wasn't for you tube nobody would have known they existed. Ray had to act like a clown, Robby became a dancing guitarist, John needed extra drummers. Then in the 2000' s they got an English man to pretend he is American and Jim Morrison to sing the old hits. Did they make any new hits in all their variations? These guys are so lost without Jim, you tube artists get more hits. And you should too.
Everybody clamors about the loss of Jim. Yes it is a loss. An enormous loss. But it's time to give credit where Credit is due. The remaining Doors have talent and talent to spare!
Boy, I could tell you guys cool stories of seeing the Doors and Jim live 3 times, and having Ray let me into a Full Circle session, seeing the Jim-less Doors 3 or 4 times, sneaking into a rehearsal one day at their workshop, and on and on. Took hundreds of photos too. Been to Ray's house and hung out with him many times. Honest!....

In his memoir Robbie says that Ray was the obvious choice for singing, having sung in Rays band before the Doors were formed, but added that he had never liked his voice. No comparison to real singers like Jim, according to Robbie. I agree.
Wow, this is great. Saw the Doors in concert with and without Morrison. The first time at Carnegie Hall without Jim, we actually half expected him to come out on stage because Ray, in particular, had been suggesting that Jim might have faked his death and run off to Africa. Such was the mystical aura around Morrison and the band. Would have loved to hear Morrison sing Ship with Sails. No disrespect to Ray but just not the same sans Morrison. Regarding Densmore, he was great as people suggest here in comments. Just saw a John Coltrane documentary that John appears in talking about having seen the classic Coltrane band in LA with Elvin Jones on drums five or six times. John acknowledges Jones stylistically as an influence and of course the whole middle section of Light My Fire was inspired by Coltrane. Doors remain one of the gold standard iconic groups in the history of rock music. 50 plus years later- still relevant. Thanks for the post.
Thanks for this video! I saw 4 concerts with Robby & Ray including 3 in Paris, even without Jim these guys were able to set the audience on fire, I remember in 2011 that when the band left after the Bataclan concert in their big car, there were guys running after them, one was hanging on the back of the car, they were all screaming like crazy. Incredible memories! Cheers

Jim may be absent physically after his shocking death, OTHER VOICES was still carrying on and produced 2 more albums plus AMERICAN PRAYER which really was a creative masterpiece. The doors were a big influence on my life. Until the END my beautiful friends.
An American Prayer, though ear-pleasing, is a dishonest and disrespectful operation. Jim Morrison would have NEVER approve. Paul Rothschild was furious about it and rightly so, because Morrison had been adamant about "no doors" when he recorded his poems.

Glad I saw this but not necessarily for the performance itself. The description mentions: “If you’re a fan of Jim Morrison only and not The Doors you probably won’t like this.” For me it’s an impossibility to be a Morrison “only” fan. The Doors have been my personal favorite for over 40 years and the truth is simple: The members are hopelessly intertwined. Without the Doors (especially Ray) there is no Lizard King and without Jim there is no Doors. This is a valiant effort, by three extremely talented musicians, to stay relevant after tragic circumstances but it most definitely isn’t The Doors. Just as I could have never envisioned Morrison carrying on without Ray, Robbie, and John, this just doesn’t work for me musically. What it does do however is make me realize, in vivid color and somewhat haunting reality, how much more these three were blessed by Morrison’s life and cursed by his death than were us mere fans.

People people people!! There were two albums they made😢 after the Jim thing happened, with Ray as frontman! Couldn't sell to their moms I guess, before officially disbanding. Hope somebody posted OTHER VOICES & FULL CIRCLE! Let's all look for some blues!! Didn't work in early 70's but COULD BE APPRECIATED TODAY!! The legendary DOORS!

I love The Other Voices. I feel like they should have made a new band afterwards. I would have loved to see what they had to offer the world. RIP Ray, Jim and the other Doors who are no longer with us.
