The makers of Adblock/Adblock Plus have confirmed the slowdown was actually due to their latest update and it's not RUclips's fault. This info came out literally as we were filming our video in what I can only assume was an attempt to sabotage us. www.neowin.net/news/adblock-google-did-not-slow-down-and-lag-youtube-performance-with-ad-blocker-on/
Sabotage you how and why?
it happens
Given this misinformation is the first piece in the video, it's probably worth putting this correction at the top of the video description or even replace the video, so those that don't read comments aren't misinformed.
You should cut this section out
just use a second tab and a touch os patience. simple fix
The pre-roll ads at the beginning of videos are somewhat tolerable, but the ones that interrupt you every two minutes while you're actively watching are insanely annoying.
The ones in the middle of music videos or full concerts are the worst.
I feel like, somehow, net neutrality would have played somewhat of a role in this issue.
What got me to use ad blocker in the first place was there was a 10 minute video every 30 seconds there was an ad break nope I'm done
Anyone else getting ads that continue to cover half the screen AFTER ending or skipping the last couple days?
thats not true@@BeautifulAngelBlossom
If they didn't force as many ads as are on TV, people might not be as quick to block them. But when you make the experience so disruptive, it's inevitable that people will find a way around the issue.
then dont watch it, you people are like addicts
@@Freestyle80 i wish i could stop
@@Freestyle80I rarely use RUclips and still use an ad blocked APK on mobile. I wouldn't care if it was 1 30s ad at the beginning but it's like 1 ad per minute nowadays
the ads are way worse on mobile than desktop in my experience. at least on desktop i know how to bypass the ad without using any type of ad block. just click the video, if you see an pop up press alt+⬅ then alt + ➡
Ban all the stupid AI generated scam advertisements and then maybe I will stop blocking them.
Problem with the strategy is... almost no one would think "Oh, this is performing poorly. It must be ad blocker."
Instead most people think "Oh, it's performing poorly. I'll wait until later."
I've heard of tech illiterate people almost going out to buy a new pc because of this shit
Oh no it's annoyingly slow for however long when loading... I'll disable this thing so that I can watch two minutes of ads instead. -NoOne-ever
pretty sad a billion dollar tech company cant hire anyone to make a halfway decent website. This is too frequent with these companies these days. Especially something like apple music where I'm paying, you should have a search engine that shows the song I've listened to 500 times first, instead of 10 other songs that I obviously have no interest in.
I opened up ms edge to test playback issues as originally thought it was a chrome extension issue, realized it played fine on edge then shortly after, isolated AdBlock to be the culprit, took about 5 mins. Glad i figured it out quick was driving me insane. Also gave me crazy input lag using the player itself and in and out of full screen mode took 3-5 business days on my R7 7700x on 32gb of ram. Shady shit from RUclips.
Yeah it never occurred to me until this video strolled across my feed that my ad blocker was slowing things down. I just thought gee, RUclips sure does suck lately.
But I'd still rather watch a few seconds of blackness than ads. I haven't seen ads on here in years, and my already overstimulated brain cannot handle them. Even my toddler knows when we start up a video we just have to wait a second. Besides, I don't want my kids seeing that junk they allow on there.
We are now in the era where loading a RUclips video has become a Cpu benchmark. Well done Google. 👏👏
😂
It wasn't google... but a bug in the adblocker

Yeah same.
@@manitoba-op4jx RUclips is my main entertainment source, and mainly view on mobile and casting to my TV where ad blockers wouldn't work or would take a lot more effort
I noticed that Adblock caused not only slow buffering, but also sometimes slowing down comment typing, almost the same effect you would encounter if your CPU or HDD was spiking at 100% or your RAM was overflowing. CPU usage during these moments went from 1-2% during normal browsing prior to RUclips criminally altering my browser behavior to 15-25% when on RUclips without a video playing.
it happens all the time in the yutube app, whenever you open the virtual keyboard it jamms it for several seconds sometimes it makes it crash, i know it gas to do with the ads because once i had a vid playing, i was typing a comment when an ad popped out, the keyboard jammed and then worked again when the ad was over
Yep, although just using Brave's built in adblock works just fine I found out now. Apparently I had the AdBlock addon on top of it which I forgot about/was leftover from when I imported my settings from chrome. That is so fucking scummy. I was wondering for like a few months why the fuck is my browser so slow because I always have a youtube video in the background or just the website opened up. Was really confused since I got a pretty beefy PC and 32gigs of RAM
No ads ever is best. If youtube goes away there will always be something else.
I didn't care much about AdBlockers before. Now I will made it my mission to never watch an ad on RUclips ever again.
Libretube...! ❤
Havent watched an ad on YT in about 6 years. In fact, I havent seen an advertisement on the internet in about almost a decade thanks to uBlock Origin.
its ironic, this anti-adblock campaign has informed many, many more people about adblock, and now more of them are using it lol

Who said you'll need to be productive once back to touching grass?
What's grass?
Im sure alot of people are already doing the same
Hey don't say that
The RUclipsr Louis Rossman has been covering this for a while. He was pointing out buffering going on if you were using some other browsers but this seems more sinister
Wasn't it the adblocker itself trying to make users use the paid version?
I hope the EU will put Google and their tribe of old marketing ## in their place one day. These practices are unacceptable. It's now obvious to me that I'll never take out a Premium subscription because that would mean giving them cash, and seeing how they mistreat their users, I'm not sure I'd want to pay for that treatment!
It's time RUclips/ Google get hit with another antitrust lawsuit.
It's not anti-competitive practice, lmao
@@tteqhu antitrust division isnt only for directly anti-competive lawsuits, lmao
and besides its pretty clear youtube has monopolized this type of media, and after they didnt have to worry about competition, they started pushing a higher tier paid subscription youtube. Now they begin progressively adding more potholes to the lower tier version, they started ramping up advertisements and slowing down the platform. now to get a similar experience as before you have to pay...
hmmm so you have to pay to get the same experience as the previously competitive free platforms??....
it doesn't matter if its been quite a few years since there was competition. it doesn't become not a monopoly because they waited 5 10 15 years to start doing monopoly things.
When the law is as corrupt as YT who can we turn to?
@@Grandalf3004 What youtube does is definitely bad for the consumer, but it's not anti-competitive. The reason there are no competitors is that it's extremely expensive and difficult to do what youtube does. At this point, only another tech giant would have the necessary resources to create a competitor to youtube. And even then, they would have to offer more than youtube does to convince people a significant number of users to switch.
Also, offering a bad service is not illegal. Even if you offered your service for a long time, and then decide that you want to make more money. It's greedy, but not illegal. Making your own service worse is not anti-competitive. It's anti-consumer. These are not the same, anti-consumer practices are legal to a certain extent, and not allowing adblocker/making the free version worse is legal. Maybe it shouldn't be, but it is.
@@tteqhu They slowed down Firefox and they own Chrome, there's a conflict of interest there. Also if you take the EU's stance that ad-blockers are not illegal, that means RUclips is being slowed down on Windows but not on the RUclips app on Android / iPhone. I think those two reasons are enough to at least investigate their practices.
I haven't seen ads in years, both by paying and blocking everything.
Being bombarded with ads is something I simply refuse to be part of my life.
It's not my bloody fault they have driven down the cost of adverts by absolutely saturating anything they can with them.
Same.... ppl keep talking about annoying ads I'm like.... what ads??
Yea its really annoying. Your privillaged to not have to deal with it
Life is too short to watch ads.
imagine paying lmao
Don't worry, you can just use your parents accounts if you don't have a job.
The fact that it's also a problem with Premium makes me think that it was not intentional. Their adblock detection is just so badly optimized.
My problem with RUclips ads is just how many there are. I would be fine with it if there was one non-skip-able 15 to 30 second ad at the beginning of like every third video. The problem is the fact that RUclips likes to give you 2 and 3 thirty second ads at the beginning of a 5 minute video.... Then they want to show ads at the end of the video too. I also love how Google knows people use RUclips when they drive for Bluetooth in their car, yet they still play ads that are intended to be skipped while you drive, and on basically every video/song. Google has enough information from my phone that they can tell when I'm in a vehicle, and play less ads on RUclips to make it a safer experience, but they won't because their money means more to them than benefitting the user. I'm so tired of these companies needing to see the little line on the graph move ever upwards to satisfy investors and greed. I've said it before and I'll say it again, my life was perfectly fine before RUclips, and I'm positive it will be fine after. It's a big world, there's plenty to do.....
Not to mention those ads that continue 2 to upwards of 10 minutes after "skip" appears, forcing you to interact with it just to get back to content.
This happens less while driving and more while cooking or trying to sleep to some quiet sounds (alarmingly waking me).
30 seconds ads are for Amateurs, you never had a 02:30 ad for a 1 minute video?
😂 That was the end for me. Never again gonna login in youtube without adblock
@@A2theC honestly it happens to me just as much while driving, and it infuriates me to no end 🙄 like I said, Google has enough info from my phone that they can tell when I'm in a vehicle. Hell, Pokemon GO had enough info from your phone to tell you were in a vehicle...
@@Kiyoone I just didn't know how to include that in my rant that's all lmao that is definitely a problem, and is definitely a reason I agree with you on that. I'll never get on RUclips without ad block, whatsoever. I would sooner stop using what they like to call a "service"
not just buffering speed, but the whole website goes slow, the comment text entry box thing lags up the whole browser and even causes the video player to freeze, and even if you pay for youtube premium it still does it.
And this applies to other sites and any browser running on Chromium which includes Edge. LinkedIn was horrible to type in chat box and was nearly impossible until I disabled ABP for the site.

Yup, my cpu on my laptop was sitting at 80-100% every time I loaded youtube or tried to watch a video.@@23caterpie

I pay for premium. I also have uBlock. I have not experienced any slowdown at all. Not in the website, not in video buffering, and not in text input. No lag.
Ads aren't the only reason to use an ad blocking extension. Some of them also block all kinds of requests that feed ad-targeting profiles, so it makes sense to still use it even if you have an ad-free/paid subscription.
RUclips is absolutely delusional if they think people will ever stop finding ways to block ads. Nobody has the time or patience to watch these insanely annoying as just to watch a video. I would rather stop watching RUclips completely than ever watch even 4 seconds of an ad

@@leeroyjenkins0 you are aware of the fact that RUclips is a data collection goldmine, right? @leeroyjenkins0 not only yt/google make money with ads, they also get money selling your information, either personal, your browsing and watch history, places you’ve been, etc. Do you wonder why your email suddenly gets flooded with spam messages? @@lifeinhd4053 3 ways actually. There are apps that we all use that have built in ads and are usually left unblocked, most likely on phones, such as instagram that can take advantage of this data. Secondly, have you seen the google stories section? the one from google app on phones or when you open Chrome. These articles are also introduced to you because of your interest data as well and they're mostly alphabet's partners. Lastly, the sponsored sites and products whenever you search for anything. Your location and your interests are all they need to analyze and target you wherever and whenever they can.

I’ve been getting 2 minute plus un-skippable ads. What have I done to deserve this? I’m ready to finally start using an ad blocker on RUclips.
I have adblocker disabled on RUclips (and I don't have a lightning fast connection) but for some time I've noticed that, after the vast majority of ads, the video resumes but freezes after a few seconds with 0 buffer available. Pause/Play does nothing and the buffer remains at 0. The only way to resume is to reload the page. Until recently I had never seen such behavior.
I've gotta say youtube is being really annoying to watch on tv because you cant just download a chrome adblock extension, and I've had 5 adds in a row, totalling to over 50 seconds of unskippable ads. Seems to be even worse on tv then here.

I expect youtube to accept their fate. Adblockers are there for great reasons and are the first line of defence against malware and randsomware. Heck no we do not need to see personalised ads.
Getting paid for banner ads is fine, video ads I guess are the most fine when finishing a video and minimizing.
Honestly, im glad my youtube is so slow now. Might make me frustrated enough to just close the tab and go do something actually productive
RUclips not limiting or normalising the volume of their ads is a major reason why my ads stay blocked.
As I'm typing this, I need to wait 10 seconds between each word because RUclips is slowing it down for no reason. Ad block is a personal choice that RUclips should not be able to control. I've seen ads for Round Up on YT which is the same company that made Agent Orange in Vietnam which injured thousands of Vietnam vets. I've seen ads for SUVs and pickup trucks on YT with giant blindspots right in front which are incredibly dangerous for pedestrians and children. I'm absolutely not watching more YT ads.

RUclips has consistently increase the amount of adds in videos over the years. It's gotten worse and worse and it one of the major contributors towards people using AdBlockers, because the amount of ads are just obscene..
As an Australian, I can confirm there is nothing abnormal with RUclips. Everything works as expected
Does anyone else hate the new RUclips skip ad thing? Like I'm expecting that if I press skip it will skip both videos but now RUclips is forcing you to watch both, why have the skip button and change its functionality. Rename to next ad or something.
In landscape mode some adds continue to cover the right half after skipping now. I'm very much considering blocking ads purely because of how obnoxious they have become. Googles own product ads are among the worst, extremely loud and cringeworthy.

RUclips made 2 mistakes. First was ruining user experience in favor of greed. Second was challenging the internet.
When youtube stops taking money from scammers for their scam ads, then people might consider watching ads. Or ya know, tries to clean up any of the garbage on the sight. Or stops letting copyright trolls from abusing the system. Just a thought
... or stops overcharging the premium subscription.
I don't object to paying for what I enjoy, contrary to popular belief. Most people who pirate things or """pirate""" by adblocking (no it's not piracy because nothing besides RUclips's prayers are being bypased, and ads are not legal tender :) ) don't object to paying for things, it's a service issue.
If I pay $15/mo for premium, which is about the running rate right now, I'll still be tracked to hell and back, and my experience won't be better besides a slightly higher 1080p bitrate. Based on their last financial report an average user makes RUclips very roughly $1/mo in ad revenue. I don't object to paying somewhat more than that, BUT 15 TIMES? Hell no, plus the data collection is absolutely part of revenue, even if it doesn't all end up as dollars on the list.
Nebula delivers actual high quality curated content without much data collection nor algorithms, and is a significantly smaller yet currently sustainable company, that offers plans at $3 monthly. If they can pay creators and their CDN at that rate, so can google ffs
90%+ are scams. facebook is just as bad
Maybe they can get rid of highly edited crappy shorts content and also bring back dislikes. That would help them make more money but they won't because of the agenda

RUclips gives me the exact same shitty mobile game ad for something called Herowars no matter how many times I click on Block Ad in THEIR OWN ad center. If the ads were actually personalized, there would be privacy complaints of course, but at least they wouldn't be so annoying to look at all the time.
Fun fact, if you use a VPN to change your location to another country, your ads change too, except you still get the same shitty mobile game ones. VPN to Japan to get some comedic ads so you can at least get a laugh out of the multiple 30s breaks in the 10min video.
You know what's more annoying than RUclips ads? those in video ads by the content creator itself! I have RUclips premium but still have to encounter ads from content creators which are ANNOYING, especially when they don't provide proper chapter on it as well.
someone suggested refreshing the page rapidly forces the video to buffer sooner; its worked so far
That new QDEL concept sounds oddly similar to the concept of CRTs when you think about it. Very cool idea, hope to see more of it soon.
If you don't already know about it, check out the defunct SED/FED (what could have been) and the current, large-format LPD (which uses a laser instead of an electron beam to excite phosphors).
QDEL: the un-LED TV 😏
Will be very interesting to compare microOLED vs microLED vs microQDEL
I have premium, and I had an ad-blocker enabled because it’s enabled on every site. One day it started causing an insane amount of lag and I didn’t know why for a while.
Whats happend next? 😮😮
@@ThadMiller1 I turned off the ad blocker. Even tho it shouldn’t have made a difference, the lag completely went away. However, I still sometimes have issues with my playback quality being set to the lowest option despite having good internet.
@@Zappr all of that in browser I guess. What about the Yt App? Same problems?
@@ThadMiller1 I’m on iphone, so I don’t use adblock on the yt app.
I try to watch RUclips on my tv and they put an unskippable mid roll every two minutes. It’s so unbelievably annoying and they wonder why I’d rather plug my laptop into my tv and not have ads. On my phone I feel the ads are much more reasonable
Google slowing down and throttling your personal computer hardware that you payed for, potentially causing damage would be unforgivable and would have to be explained VERY quickly, glad it wasn't them.(?)
I thought this was just RUclips loading slowly due to bandwidth problems so I moved to another site to listen to in the background while I was gaming. This is news to me, interesting. Google just doesn’t get that RUclips isn’t an inelastic good. They maintain their monopoly on content here only due to ease of use, once that is gone a competitor will take their place.
People kept saying that about Twitter and Facebook and yet...
adblock will still find away around, give it a day or two boys
you're not gonna win youtube and all you are doing is making more and more people aware of them and install them.
The number of adblocking users can't raise significantly
AdGuard ftw
I spat out a mouth full of chilli con carne laughing at that Tim Cook impression... was still chuckling while cleaning it up too, totally worth it!
That part on finally having the perfect TV so we can stop trying had me chuckle...
Yo vimeo come back bro it's time we're ready
What was low, was them deliberately nerfing my streams with "limited ads" for no reason. Saying to me that "nothing was wrong or could be done". Google themselves admitted something was up and are trying to help now. The irony 😅
I swear to god if youtube becomes unusable due to this I will literally stop using it.
If everyone had to see ads again, the amount of ads each person would need to see would be a lot less
Unless YT is greedy. Witch they probably will be.
I think this might be reupload-worthy since most people won't see your pinned correction and the whole title and topic of the video basically directly imply this is YTs fault.
Just how ignorant must the new YT CEO be to think that people seeing a slowdown in their video loading speeds are gonna immediately think it's cos they haven't paid YT (either directly or by watching an ad)? Like has he even talked to anyone using the internet? The first things they'd blame are their connection/ISP or their browser or the website itself. They'd have to be told by someone that it's actually YT throttling their video cos they have an ad blocker, it wouldn't strike most of them otherwise.
At the same time they added down blue skipable ads.
Use to be short 15 sec unskipable. Then 1 ya can skip after 5
Now it's 2 sometimes 7-10 mins long. Skipable ads
All it's done is make me go to spotify for most things.
Can't use YT as a radio unless I wanna walk over even song and press skip twice
Please, spam the same comment another 100 times. The heck is wrong with you dude?
I have never bought any product or service from a RUclips ad. I hit the video turned a sound all the way down and put my phone down. I can always rewind if I get back after the video has started.
Don't have any adblocker on my Android, and even the ads need 10-15 seconds to load and than another 10 seconds to load the video. This is nuts!
Honestly. No matter how hard Google tries to make the experience horrible for adblock users, it will still never be nearly as horrible as being a non-adblock user.
All it serves to do is to make the audience angry, and eventually, to start looking for alternatives. In a deeply saturated market, that is the last thing Google wants to happen.
I would gladly take hours to find a solution to block ads on RUclips over intrusive ads. I just dont like when things are forced on us. 1 ad was fine, i didnt bother, 2 ads were annoying but i stayed away from adblocks and then came 15s unskippable ads back to back and that is when i said f it and went the ad block route. RUclips should have realized that after a point the ads were having a negative effect and stopped it. But they pushed on and i am glad the adblockers are keeping up with them.
Then look for alternatives.
Let me spoil it for you - none of the creators want puny payouts from competing platforms, even if they personally shove sponsors into their videos.
Or just pay 😊
This isn’t a deeply saturated market. RUclips doesn’t really have competition.
@@ThadMiller1 Googles slogan used to be "don't be evil".
Can you guess why they removed it? Can you guess why people don't want to pay them? 😊
Man I wanted to see Riley's full magic trick
what do you mean, he did it
They don't even realize suffering the slowdown is better than just watching the ads
$3500, that's not a friendship, that's an unwelcome family member who has overstayed their limits.
Plasma windows are actually a thing. You can put one of those in front of a tube and if you then pull a vacuum in the tube that plasma window will hold the air pressure. It's really cool tech, but the power bill is enormous
I always thought that once strong fusion got figured out this would be such a cool way to make large scale domes on other bodies.
Can't wait to see more AI generated listings on other platforms. It's hilarious.
that walking around the mall bit sent me! lol
a few weeks ago I got an unskipable 30ish second ad and i kid you not less than 1 second later I got the same ad... my video flashed on the screen for half a second than the same god forsaken car ad popped up
He's so good, long live the Riley....
There are people such as myself that advertisers should genuinely not want to show their ad to.
Each ad impression that gets displayed to me, is a wasted impression. I have grown to be completely uninterested in ads as a whole, and no matter what the product is, I skip the ad without paying attention to it, because I hate ads so much.
I will never spend a dime on youtube premium either.
In the long run, they would save money by allowing people like me to stop receiving ads, so the ad impression could be spent on someone who would be profitable.
And if you're wondering, no I do not use an ad-block. I understand that while I dislike ads, they are important to the creators I watch. So don't crucify me in the replies.
Seeing an ad for a product has the opposite effect. I won't even touch that product with a 10-foot pole.
it's funny how under any video about ad blocker there's someone like you who thinks they're immune to advertising. How do you even reconcile this mentality with the fact that you're getting a service for free because of these ads?
@nothanks6784
I hope you can take the time to read this.
Here's the problem.
Ads are handled so horribly on youtube that they are genuinely wasted on most of the people they are displayed to, because despite google's attempt at making "targeted advertising" better, places like youtube just display whatever ad with no relation to your digital fingerprint, with the reason for why you're seeing it being "Time of day, general location."
If my ad experience was actually good, meaning that I received ads that catered to me in the first place, it would be a different story. The amount of times I have blocked the same ad, just to continue to see it over and over, is unacceptable. If I block an ad, I don't want to see it anymore. I want there to be another chance for something I might appreciate.
It used to be where seeing commercials meant there was somewhat of a "thrill" on what new innovation I'd see.
Now it's just cringy google ads with people dancing to ugly music and showing the latest samsung/apple/google pixel whatever. One of the most infuriating bits are how ads adopted the Tik-tok speech cadence and repeat themselves. "BRAND NEW IPAD IN A MOUSE CASE HERE WE GO!!!" I don't want to hear that crap bro, I cringe so bad every time I do.
While I hate today's standard for ads, there are exceptions. I don't use an ad block, because as you said, creators get paid for these ads to be displayed. There is also the rare occasion where I see an ad for a product that I may have interest in. I want to see ads for the latest tech releases, but I want them to be properly advertised. Not showing some random stranger unrealistically dancing like an idiot in public for 10 seconds, only to pan on to a the earbud product the person is wearing with a dumb motto like "Hear the future" or some sh*t. That tells me nothing about the product other than that it exists, and the impression it leaves on me is of annoyance, pushing me to automatically dislike the product. Ads that attempt to actually advertise the product have to dumb down their terms to appeal to the "broad general audience." Apple is an example. While they somewhat accomplish getting to numbers, and things that actually matter in their key notes, their actual advertisements are horrible.
Ads generally used to showcase products, entertain you, and educate you on what that product does, and why it's better than a competitor all at the same time. You're lucky to hit a couple of those criterias nowadays.
To prove I'm not just blubbering nonsense, here are a few companies with advertising I genuinely enjoyed, and respect:
Status Audio
Magic John
Overnight Oats
These companies advertise their products so effectively that they are actively on my radar. You know what all 3 have in common? I saw all three ads on Instagram. I would say Instagram does such a better job with advertising, that if their algorithm was applied to RUclips, I wouldn't be so cynical.
Status audio showed their product, clearly explained why you should want it (clearly showing the specs, engineering, and use-case scenario advantages over competing products), and didn't use any buzzwords or "Hey! Pick me pick me!" tik-tok voice cadence.
Magic John swiftly demonstrates how easy it is to apply their screen protector, uses other products to demonstrate it's durability, and showcases features of their screen protector that you don't get on typical screen protectors. They actually show the breaking point of their product too, instead of making it appear "indestructible."
Overnight Oats goes straight to the point. "We make oatmeal. It's convenient and easy to prepare." They have an ad showing their production cost, and how much it would cost the user to replicate, just to show that it is valuable.
If I hadn't already had a pair of ear buds, I would have bought Status Audio's ear buds.
If I liked oatmeal enough to pay a premium for it, I would buy Overnight oats.
If I need screen protectors, I would buy Magic John's.
I understand the importance of advertising, but I do not like the current state of it. To me, it feels that most advertising is designed for babies, and to be presented with that is insulting.
@@blaux I know what you need... Liberty Mutual insurance.
And a baby grand piano.
@blaux you know what, fair enough. You have a much more reasonable stance than I expected based on your og comment. I despise trash advertising just as much but I'm not very aware of the situation since I've had premium for a few years now and only ever see banner ads when online. I heavily prefer the advertising you mentioned, but I think a big part of the problem is that it isn't as effective as the kind that's more mainstream. It's true that these trashy ads are wasted on us, but is it even worth making a clear, concise 'pros of our products' list for the small subsection that doesn't buy into the garbage? Regardless, I wish it was and I appreciate the few companies that take this approach, and I appreciate the thoughtful reply
google literally needs to see that they will never stop us from using adblockers we will always find a way around the issue
I will never stop using ad blockers on RUclips or any other website. The moment ad blocker stopped working is the moment I ban RUclips from my life and move to a different platform.

King Solomon kinda based tho
I get that the creators depend on ad revenue to survive but having all the ads possible in the video and then few “Segways to our sponsor” as well just shows the greed. I’ve stopped watching Linus Media because of all the adverts. It’s ridiculous that they don’t realise that because of the amount of advertising thrown at people from every direction people became immune to the ads.
You’re literally watching Linus media inc on this video?
Dementia moment
@KZ-ko4vm
"I've stopped watching" Bruh my guy literally viewed the video to cry about watching a youtube video
Stop being so pathetically dramatic
Using Google is like going to the library and finding out that the card catalog is mostly full of ads.
Gotta say, the worst are when you watching any video under 15 mins, and you get an "Ad" that is 30m-1hr long. Listening to a podcast and the same crap happens I've gotten multiple feature length Ads
i survived 2010's youtube where you needed to wait for the video to buffer first before playing it.
This is a non issue.
It’s an issue as at some point Google will probably attempt to permanently buffer videos of those using ad blockers.
it was horrible for me. It wasn't just the video buffering it was the entire site almost freezing. I couldn't type a comment because it would take almost 10 seconds for a letter to show up on the screen after typing it. I checked task manager and my cpu usage wasn't even up by that much, RAM wasn't either.. i ended up signing up for a 30-day trial of YT Premium. Now I just hope this problem gets solved within the next 30 days so I don't have to keep premium.
agree except this generation has a 30ms attention span
That was my card.
The time I spend watching anything on RUclips has dropped by 60% since the adblockalypse started. It will only get worse as RUclips continues to try to force me to watch things I have no interest in.
it wasnt only "over the weekend".... ive been having this exact problem for about a month and a half now.
We replaced, and upgraded out router/modem and still had the problem..... it wasnt until Luis Rossmann's video, that i realized its youtube, not the internet. Some times, its soo laggy, that on manually forced 144p, the video stops for a few seconds, then plays a few, then stops again, while internet speed tests say im getting 100mbs +
RUclips should let you purposely watch ads so that you can "bank" the ad watch time so people can watch videos without ads.
That way I can never watch ads, they get their ad views and we both win.
I like the idea but it'll probably be easily gamed (like running your computer overnight) and will be somewhat complex to implement
ads that played at same time as video on side without audio
nobody would ever pay for such an adspot.
@thebevan duh thats the point. Just have a pi or cheap laptop permanently run ads on mute and out of sight.
But we dont have to tell them thats what we are doing
Google at war with ad blockers? Say it ain't so!
If anyone deserves our money, it's the people behind adblockers. They have completely transformed our lives and I can only applaud them for that. Thank you so much, for saving us from these toxic ass corporations ❤❤❤
Agree with you 100%. I'll pay for an adblocker before I pay for RUclips Premium or watch the ads.
It has been several years, but today is the first time I've seen a RUclips ad. They broke through the algorithm today and I actually received one of those ads for the mobile games that don't exist. We may have lost the battle today, but not the war.
