I literally am having this same issue...moved here in Feb it rained about a month after we moved the roof in my kids room closet was leaking. We told them they sent the bs maintenence men over they "patched" it and now after the hurricane it's leaking again and getting worse and I'm concerned of mold and my son is asthmatic.

Is a furnace that pours water out of the duct of the vents a problem that is a must fix??? Mould and mushrooms are now growing because of all the water that comes down from the furnace....
You can go to court and put your rent payments in a rent escrow account until your landlord makes the necessary repairs it's the proper legal way to do it if you just don't pay rent it will be used against the tenant .
And after the landlord fixes it you will be moving the next month. When you're on a month to month lease your landlord will kick you out for any complaints or problems I've already had it happen before.

i told my landlord about my BROKEN sink since the beginning of this month and they said theyd put a work order in and never did, told them again and they asked what apt number and i told them. Still nothing, ive been having to wash my damn dishes in mixing bowls with water in one and soapy water in the other bc i dont want to take them to the bathroom. im getting so damn tired of the situation ive told them like 4 times already and im scared to sue or withhold rent since this is my first apt and im only 19. i really dont know what to do anymore.
Our landlord is the best (my old one was grand too) they repair things that are broken which isn’t rare and they don’t give a fuss about questions why. It’s an old place so it’s not that great but they’re happy to slowly improve it which is phenomenal.

When I rented my landlord would not fix my hardwood that buckled from there sprinkler system. I told her twice that when they run those underground sprinklers water comes up from the floor. I had a basement apartment. I showed her the damage and she said id just have to live with it. Next summer it happened again even worse now. My furniture was getting wet. And I don’t expect the landlord to replace my furniture but I expected her to fix the dam sprinkler system and stop using it because there obviously a leak underground somewhere. I even told her use my security deposit to fix the floor and she still didn’t do anything now I moved all my furniture out of that room and a few months later I moved out. Like I found the whole situation stupid I brought up a concern water intrusion and they ignored me and continued to use the faulty sprinkler system
its simple. dont pay rent untill the problem is fix. Danger put rent in a trust account and dont spend rent money as land lord may fix the Problem and want the rent money
I’m disabled and I finally got my benefits to get a home of my own and unfortunately I don’t, yet, have the credit to get a better place. My kitchen light doesn’t work, the fridge died, there are leaks when it rains, the front door floods. I’ve shown the vids and pictures to my landlord and he keeps giving me the run around. I can’t afford to move, I’m stuck. Where do you go in Tennessee to get help when you’ve got a no account landlord? Also he’s asked me to watch the property for security and other things but won’t fix a thing or go down on the rent. It’s ridiculous

My landlord took one apartment and divided it into two units studio. I have the electrical box in my unit. Every time a socket blows out in the other unit, they have to come to my unit to turn it back on. Unfortunately their socket blew out and no one was home in my unit. They call the landlord and the landlord took it upon himself to come in the house with no notice and turned on their switch. Landlord threatened to evict both of us because we don't talk to each other. I told him this is not a tenant problem it's a landlord electrical problem. Can I actually be evicted over this problem 🤷
I have a mold on my countertops in the kitchen, rotten counters around sink with black and green mold. All the windows leak and have mold all around them. The ac had a deal lizard in the ac vent above the stove. The smell is horrible. We have been in the ER 3 times and four times to urgent care. Management, also came in today and had a repair guy come in and disarm our alarm. We have sent three certified letter, over 50 photos. The city is now involved and has promised to make dangerous sure the owner and manager are held accountable. We also spoke with the city regarding retaliation and they said this situation will be well documented and would not allow that to happen. It helps that we have a good relationship with the city and the employees there.
Here in Ohio if you do something like that the landlord will kick you out the very next month I have my mailbox broken off I've told my landlord they won't fix it now I have to go to the Post office to get my mail and I'm already not working and disabled I don't have the money for this but at the same time if I were to have it fixed and deduct it from my rent my landlord would kick me out the very next month because it's a month to month lease. Even if the money went into rent escrow they can keep your landlord from kicking you out for a certain period of time but here's the catch at the end of that time you will be kicked out and there's not a thing you can do about it the landlord don't even have to give a reason why they want you to move. Any advice on what I can do without getting kicked out the next month for doing it?
I have inspection march 14 2023 i’ve been waiting close to a year to get things fixed but every time I report to the office they never come to fix it my bathroom sink leaks kitchen sink garbage disposal don’t work they pull the plumbing apart t and walked out and told me not to touch it and they never came back when I went down to the office and when I told them show pictures and video and they still hasn’t come yet to fix it and I called them Saturday afternoon and left him them message and still hasn’t came to fix it I told them Multiple times This is in Antioch Tennessee

Now the entire place is so bad, you can’t go in without wearing a gas mask. Don’t sit on the couch because there’s little mouse pellets there. Don’t sit on the fabric covered kitchen chairs, they’re soaked in mouse urine. The landlord says, you cannot get out of lease, even though you can’t live there. He says, “So a little mouse came in out of the cold. That’s just normal.”

Several people told me about my apartment having warped windows. The guy living above me told me about my furnace having water pouring out of it and they "fixed" it. Their way of fixing things is the cheap way....Like putting a bandaid over a bullet wound but leaving the bullet inside the wound...(Just an example) My water issue from the furnace now has mushrooms sprouting inside my house around/behind the furnace. I've mentioned this furnace issue since October of 2023, and they haven't done anything to fix it when it was first brought to their attention. And about the warped windows? Nothing... What can I do to take legal action on this? Because I am giving up all hopes of this getting fixed....
I’ve had oil leaking from my washer for 2 years. Still no replacement or fix. My refrigerator constantly rattles and turns on and off so afraid to buy to much food. Nothing. Squirrels get in chimney every year and have to listen to them slowly die. Nothing
All slumlords try to game the system and take advantage of tenants. A new law needs formed that prevents a landlord from bailing on repairs. A typical slumlord if taken to court or you pay in rent escrow to get them to make repairs will just say I'm selling the house to get out of repairs. The new law should be, if they are made aware to the city and you pay in rent escrow for them to make repairs that if they claim they are selling the house to get out of said repairs then they are fined $50K+ for attempting to avoid repairs. Period! Start forcing these slumlords to make repairs!

Sigh this happened to me (ceiling leaking in kitchen) but I didn't fix it and I didn't stop paying rent. It took over a year to get it fixed - only when the ceiling was threatening to collapse. Turns out my upstairs neighbor was doing alterations on their bathtub which caused a leak in my apartment. Sigh, I wish I witheld rent. Took the plumbers like 30 minutes to fix after the leak inspector was finally called (he was in and out on like 10 mins). Sucks but live and learn. Glad this story had a good outcome!
No shower facilities for 5 weeks will stop paying rent at this rate also faulty esb switches and double esb bills I can't even take a shower. I hate baths as I've history of fainting but the shower was needed

Can I refuse rent because landlord won’t handle violent neighbors. I was assaulted by neighbor and I got a concussion over my property getting damaged by this neighbor. Cops won’t do anything. I did defend myself but the cops see it as I hit him first so I’m at fault! WTF!
Go to your local courthouse and you have to make a case against that person and show police reports, medical records, everything has to be documented then you can ask you magistrate to ask the landlord to evict them. If the landlord doesn’t evict them after they have been asked and you have shown all the evidence to the magistrate, then you can sue the landlord for negligence.
I'm a landlord and a leaky roof is a MUST FIX on the landlord's part.

I’m in south Florida I was told I have to have a eviction to put rent in escrow.

Broken heater is a huge violation. It's illegal for them NOT to fix it. Contact Legal Aid in your state.
