⁴ᴷ⁶⁰ Single-Track Times Square - 34th St/Hudson Yards 7 Line Shuttle

- In order to provide service to 34th St-Hudson Yards while the section of the 7 line between Times Square and 74th Street was taken out of service for necessary track maintenance work, this interesting single-track shuttle service was operated. Operations like this showcase the resourcefulness and creativity of the MTA's service planning teams, who work hard to ensure sufficient service is provided while the MTA delivers record-breaking levels of capital investment into the NYC Subway system. Enjoy!

Taken in April 2024.
This reminds me of the time when there was a broken rail in the Steinway Tunnel.
If I was in charge of service changes I would of done the shuttle from Hudson yards to grand on one track and People could just switch trains during that time
@@Nycc._.chirss08In the context of the broken rail situation, that would’ve been too redundant and only exacerbated crowding at Grand Central.
And even without the broken rail scenario, having that single track shuttle would’ve been too redundant (and probably impossible since there was other work in the Steinway Tunnel as well).
For those that don’t exactly get it, the video is here: m.ruclips.net/video/8JZTOyHB2wM/видео.html and the broken rail occurred on the eastbound track in the tunnel between Manhattan and Queens. Also, while it is not mentioned in the video, each track is in its own tunnel on that section so running trains on either track and undergoing construction on the other wouldn’t interfere with each other. The crossover mentioned in the video is east of that section and it’s only used in emergencies and backups.
THE CANTONESE STATION ANNOUNCEMENT OH MY GOD
Ahh They Use This When The Inaugurated The 7 At 34th Street Hudson Yards In 2015
I was just on the 7 train yesterday!
I remember some nights on weekends when I used to work in that area they would do this
Could be the purple (S).
Good planning in the event of track maintenance.💚👌
Luckily the (2) and (Q) were my primary way home when I was younger. I remember this happening back in 2018.
Awesome 0:10
Did the announcement to Times Square by Kathleen Campion return for this program?
No they used Annie Bergen.
@@davidng2336 No, when the 7 used to terminate at Times Square until 2015, Kathleen Campion announced the bound part, then Carolyn Hopkins followed with “The Next and Last Stop is”, and Annie Bergen answered with the station.
There's 2 announcements. The Times Square from Queens is Kathleen and the one from Hudson Yards is Annie.@@jadenmuniz8817
