Thanks! There's quite a bit of space in this bivy. There's videos around with much taller people moving around with clearance. Even with the 25" pad there's plenty of width. You can also raise the bug net higher if you wanted which will result in the bathtub floor raising up and giving you more wind protection if you like. I probably won't stake it out most of the time. I think I'll most likely just raise the head end with a single pole or my backpack. I guess it depends on how much bugs are out.

Thanks! Yeah the Vesica was a pain to use but it might be nice as a soft flask for the fastpack. Haha yeah it's a ice cream sample spoon. With Boulder Salt only 1/4 teaspoon is needed for around 1L of water and the spoon measured out almost the same. Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks! Haha I used a clip from The Price Is Right when I went through that section in a previous video. So it's kind of a recurring nightmare song that gets stuck in my brain. That's awesome! I was pretty sore for about 3-4 days after the trip but I'm pumped to get back out there again. I've always hated running but I'm actually excited now. With all the walk-by shots, I didn't really gain much ground lol. It was a cool shakedown trip though.

Haha thanks! Yeah it's still technically Winter so I figured I should bring the stove. Maybe I'll wait until Summer. I barely used the hip belt the whole time and when I did use it I had it loose. I felt more freedom of movement without it and will probably remove it for the next trip. I have the pack riding pretty high too. I've been wanting to have better posture while backpacking. I don't like having that backpack slouch. So hopefully with this pack I'll try to stick my chest out like a runner more.
Nice video. Recently got one of these packs off Ali-Express. Very good quality. Plan to use it for overnighter fast pack trips but also multi-day hikes. My load out is compact but I'm guessing with four days food and 2.5L water I'll have gross weight of 12kg. Do you think the pack can handle that weight? Regards from Australia.
The weight may be fine but it might cause some strain on the shoulders. Some of that weight will be shifted to the core and if it's too much, it might cause some back strain. I guess you'll have to play around and see. I was fine with around 20lbs but I'd probably switch to the 40-60L framed pack if carrying 25lbs or more.
Hi Rod, taking my daughter on her first multi night backpacking trip into Henry Coe at the end of March. Any suggestions on best 3 night loops? Would love to see Pacheco falls if you think it’s worth it…?
That sounds great. It shouldn't rain anytime soon and Pacheco Falls should definitely have water. You can camp near the different water stops like Willson Camp, Tule Pond, Wasno Pond, Kelly Lake, Coit Lake, Fish & Game Pond, and the pond near Pacheco Falls. I like going to Redfern Pond for overnight trips too. Good amount of climbing but not too far.
@@ibasterd Technically but you won't be able to fit much else. With the bulk it makes it uncomfortable on my back. I use a larger Sierra Design Flex Capacitor 40-60 when packing the BV450.

Thanks! The shelter wasn't much of a weight loss compared to the Lanshan 1 but shaved some oz with the bug bivy & hammock tarp. With the new setup, it will be lighter at around 1 lb. I brought the 14-15 oz 40 deg quilt instead of the 20 deg. Compared to the 23L daypack trip, it wasn't too different. I saved some weight bringing less vlogging gear. Brought the Tenkara rod instead of the rod & reel. With a lot of water around, I didn't carry as much.
@@outsidewithmike Yeah at most I carried a little over 1.5L of water. I stashed a full 1L Vesica bottle inside the pack. Tried to place it near the middle of my back to distribute the weight better. I didn't like it in the side pocket. The stretch pockets don't seem very durable so I'll stash lighter gear like the water filter & dirty water bag and fishing gear.

Thanks! I'm thinking the pack would be filled to capacity before packing 12kg worth of gear and food. 30L is not a lot.

Can that 30L pack fit a BV450 bear can inside?
