Just love Raymond Burr, William Hopper and Barbara Hale. They had so much chemistry on screen and it was a so fun to watch. I always thought the episodes from the late fifties, early sixties were the best story lines....but truly I still watch them all today on DVD and reruns. I wish they were all still alive so I could meet them in person. What a joy that would be. ♥️
There's only one Perry Mason: Raymond Burr. Nobody else is even allowed to play the part; Raymond Burr owns it. A lot of actors have portrayed Sherlock Holmes (Basil Rathbone being my favorite) but nobody even attempts to compete with Raymond Burr for the role of Perry Mason. It would be easy enough to re-boot the series cheaply: after all, one courtroom looks like any other. Just re-arrange the framed pictures and move the chairs around and you got a new courtroom. Simple set and cheap. All shot indoors, inside the studio. But Burr is irreplaceable.
HBO is putting on a series about Perry Mason as a young, embittered veteran of World War 1 - before he became a lawyer, before all the wealth, etc. Sure isn't replacing Raymond Burr and company, but it sounds intriguing.
Such a good message from the past. No one really fights for people's rights anymore when things get hard. Yes sometimes we will lose and the losses are severe but refusing to fight a bully just validates their tactics. Even if we fight and lose everything else we still have our humanity and that is something the bullies of the world can never take! We only lose our humanity if we surrender it.
Three familiar guest stars in this clip. Prominently, David Lewis, who would soon become Warden Crichton in Batman. Sitting, Bruce Bennett, whose movie and TV career spanned over 50 years, and once played Tarzan. Finally in a brief glimpse, Lawrence Montaigne, best known to Star Trek fans as Stonn. This clip is from the final season episode, The Case Of The Carefree Coronary.

Algo Maas What if another Burr were to take the role? You said that Burr is irreplaceable

David Lewis would portray Edward Quartermain in General Hospital in 254 episodes.
I just wish they would have used a longer clip to explain better
He’s have been much happier if he just spent more time with Della Yum Yum!
Loved Raymond in REAR WINDOW 👍👥
Poor Hamilton Burger. He always had evidence and motive on his side but unfortunately at the same time was trying to convict an innocent person.
