The beauty of the solo choir boy's voice opening "Once in Royal David's City" is about as good as I've heard them do--and I've been listening since David Willcocks' day.
My introduction to KCC was in my college days years ago. A lady I was dating played the Miserere Mei with Jeremy Budd singing the High C. I nearly fainted at the choir's beauty. I will always love the sound of the KCC and pray that they NEVER quit presenting their stunning concerts.
The disc the lady played you was of St Paul's Cathedral Choir with Jeremy Budd as the soloist in the Miserere, who was a chorister at St Paul's. On the Hyperion label and the CD is called 'Hear My Prayer'
@@ArchiveofRecordedChurchMusic Hmmm. I may have been wrong; perhaps it wasn't Jeremy Budd. I have heard him sing the Miserere and in fact have a CD with the St. Paul's. Honestly I don't know whom I was more in love with: the Miserere or the beautiful woman playing the record for me.... ☺
@@terryslade6240 King's did make a famous recording of the Miserere, with Roy Goodman as the treble soloist. (Roy is now a violinist and conductor). This recording was notable for being in English instead of the original Latin.

Beautiful
Grateful.
