  • Here is a very fast and easy way to cook a whole Chicken in your Instant Pot Duo Crisp Air Fryer.
    Ingredients:
    1 whole Chicken (around 5 pounds)
    Seasoning or Rub of your choice (I used Lemon Pepper)
    Olive Oil (I used a spray bottle of Olive Oil)
    1 1/2 cups of Chicken Broth
    Wash Chicken and dry off. Apply the Seasoning of your choice inside and all over the outside of the Chicken. Carefully place whole Chicken in Fryer Basket. Pour the cup and a half of Chicken Broth into the Instant Pot and then place the Fryer Basket in.
    Seal and Pressure Cook for 23 minutes on the High setting. Once done do a quick release. Remove the Fryer Basket and pour out the Chicken Broth. Wipe the inside clean and place back into Instant Pot and then place the Chicken and Fryer basket back in.
    Dry off the outside of the Chicken with paper towels. Feel free to apply some more seasoning if some is removed while drying. Try to get the skin as dry as possible which will help with crisping up the skin. Apply a light dose of Olive Oil to the Chicken.
    Now using the Air Fryer lid set the temperature to 400 degrees and the timer for 25 minutes. Feel free to remove the Air Fryer lids a few times doing the cooking process to check the progress of crisping up the skin. It might be done much fast the 25 minutes. Confirm internal temperature of 165 degrees when you think it is done.
    Carefully remove and allow to rest for 5-10 minutes. Slice and enjoy!

I just wanted to let you know that it turned out great & I love it. Thank you for the video for a beginner like me. Take care.

    I bought the 8qt instantpot duo airfryer and I dont have any friends coming to dinner or any family members either. I just like the extra space so as to put extra potatoes or other things to go with stew or even a chicken. Actually this is how I found you! I need to watch you today so I can make my chicken.

    MY FRIEND, ditch the black basket and use a fold out steamer type basket in instapot. it allows full use of diameter of the instapot. added benefit is the chrome foldout steamer basket are chrome and reflect more thermal energy on meat. they have better airflow too for convection

  • @theroadhome_Liz_Summers
    @theroadhome_Liz_Summers Год назад

    I didn't read through all of the comments ... BUT ... did you discard the broth and then NOT make broth from the carcass??? Maybe I misunderstood :) ... and maybe if you did discard you have "seen the light". I have been pressure cooking chicken in a 2016 Instant Pot ... when I wanted a supply of shredded chicken and wanted to make bone broth: pressure cook chicken 8 min/pound, debone when cool enough, carcass, skin, etc. back in the pot, cover with water, pressure cook for 90 min, strain and Woo-Hoo!!! - the best chicken broth. I freeze in "souper cubes". I also freeze portions of the deboned chicken.
    Fast forward to now and I just upgraded to the new (2022) Instant Pot Pro Crisp Ultimate One Lid (6.5 quart) which is pretty much the duo crisp but "one lid": Air fryer with removable pressure cooker part. So, have been looking at Pro and Duo Crisp recipes.
    Just finished a whole chicken: 25 min pressure cook, 25 minutes air fry (in 10 min increments). Perfect ... just like I'd roasted in the oven except I did not have to heat up my kitchen!
    Thanks for the technique! Oh ... so after the pressure cook, I drained the inner pot and kept that. Then, after eating what we wanted fresh air fryed with crispy skin, etc., I deboned, added all non meat and saved broth plus water to cover back in the instant pot. It is now pressure cooking for 90 minutes for my broth. Seriously ... no need for store bought broth :)

    Do you know if it is possible to cook the chicken using only the air fryer lid and bypassing the pressure cooking with the liquid?

    • @SmokingBBQ
      @SmokingBBQ  2 года назад

      I don't believe cooking the chicken from start to finish with just the air fryer lid would be possible. The outside would start to burn and the meat on inside and towards the bottom would not be fully cooked. The pressure cooking allows the whole bird to cook completely, and the air fryer lid just helps crisp up the skin. Thanks for stopping by!
