    So sorry to hear about your spill Ricky. Good to know you are fine.
    Gutted you have lost the BMW R1250R, as my journey with the R1250 started with yours.
    You have been a constant source of information about the bike, accessories and every day use.
    The content on your channel has been very good and will continue to be with the KTM .

Don't know the mileage because someone exchanged the instruemnt cluster for somethig else but the fact that it looses oil via the engine ventilation suggets the oil rings are quite worn. But after removing that fuel pump it runs and runs without complaining. In the mean time I found a another engine block only a few hundred meters from here and the special is almsot ready now. Except that I still have the same ignintion problems! Looks like it was the fancy Koso instrument cluster right from the beginning. Switchig everything back to analog now. Any way. Rikky, sorry about the spill and losing your R. Glad to see you are up and around, I have a few questions regarding your experiences with the R. You see, I actually got my hands on one of if not THE first '23 RT last fall in the US. I managed to scare my self and did not start riding it until the following Spring. I rode it over to my son's house and his driveway is curved and quite a hill. I stopped a little cross wise and when I went to put down the kick stand, there was nothing but air. Yes, I went down, the bike quickly rolled back and slammed me down on my back and my head. Got a heck of a concussion out of it that I am still suffering with. All summer I have been looking at it. Virtually no damage on the bike as it landed on top of me, but this isn't my question. I have decided to get something smaller or Lighter and I have settled on the R. Nearly a hundred pounds lighter, and a conventional front end instead of the paralink I have on my RT, which is the one thing I still struggle with. The plan is to ride the R and get more experience on a lighter bike, but with all the same familiar controls, then transition back to my RT. Any thoughts? Did I mention I am 68, and have been off bikes for 20 years. I have a ton of experience on R1, R6s, and a Ducati. Even raced the R1 a bit, but the weight of the RT coupled with that spooky front end on it has me a bit rattled. Right now I just cannot part with it. I had my heart set on it for over 20 years, and really don't want to let this setback beat me. My wife told me I should get a Honda Cub. That remark settled the deal.

    • @RikkyTang
      @RikkyTang  Год назад

      Hi Gary, that sounds a pretty awful experience with the RT and I don't blame you for being a bit wary afterwards! Yes the R will definitely feel a good bit lighter than the RT for sure and I have found it a really easy bike to ride. Pushing it around with the engine off isn't quite so easy since I am not particularly big or strong at 5'7" and about 170lbs. Keep the bike upright, push or pull it slowly and it'll be fine. You'll want to gey back on the RT before too long because of the lovely big fairing you have, pushing all of the air out the way ahead of you! I hope you keep on improving in terms of the after effects of the knock to the noggin 🙏

      The R is still quite a heavy bike whilst stationary and under the same circumstances would have gone down like your RT, but maybe not hurt quite so much! If you get the R you’ll be thrilled with it. Thoroughly recommended.

    • @marcbrasse747
      @marcbrasse747 Год назад

      @@RikkyTang This is actually becoming a big problem. People think the electronics wil save them from everything and thus ride the most overblown bikes immaginable which promote a sort of Titanic-illusion. "Yippie, Nothing can happen to me!" I've once watched a rider fall on a brake test during an advanced rider course. He had always ridden ABS bikes but had borrowed a non ABS bike for the occasion. So he just jammed the brake lever. I've never seen somebody go down so quickly! A good rider still outperforms software because he has better sensor input and is more adaptable. Not commenting on you specifically though, Rikky. Hey Mal, well I bought the Kawasaki without testing the competition first and once I rode the BMW G130 GS and more recently the KTM I realised that those bikes that are a bit more compact but offer more performance and might have been a better choice. The Versys is great but the engine does feel flat and now that I haven't got the BMW anymore, I feel like I wanted a similar bike to the Kawasaki (lightweight but with some weather protection) but also be more fun to ride in the twisties and off road too, once I get more experience! I may keep the Kawasaki as it could become my longer distance touring bike (at modest speeds!) and it will probably be 100% reliable, which is a concern with the KTM I have to admit.
