Thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction. Got the parts from Amazon as indicated. Arrived and fixed according to the instructions given here. And voila! All back to its glory! And to think Samsung Service Centre wanted to charge me almost $200 to replace just this piece of plastic. Says a lot about their support.
glad this helped, and thats pretty much same thing samsung repair shop does. They way over charge for something that can be done in 10 min. Thats why i really wanted to make this video, i had called samsung as well and they had told me it was 50 just to check to see what was wrong. Anyway hopefully you hit that thumbs up and thank you for comment since thats what gets this video out to more people searching for a way to fix their watch. Glad its helping people save some money its bad enough samsung is selling us items that are known to have issues and then charge us to repair them becuase they used lowest bidder parts.
Had you watch stopped working (even turning on) before your repair. My watch is missing its back and not turning on. I don't want to purchase the parts if there is no chance of me getting the watch to work again. Thanks in advance.
Exactly what I was looking for. Videos like this may not be the popular but they are the videos we need. Essential videos. Like trash men and retail workers.
Cheers mate! Just changed the back cover after managing without it for a while. Been putting it off for no apparent reason. Your video was straightforward and helpful.
All good except I think you made one mistake. If you look carefully at the watch, there are 2 opposing tiny little rubber tabs that just protude within the magnet ring. When you look at the back cover underneath, there are 2 square areas, again on opposite sides, just outside of the copper coloured "ring" @ 1:50. The rubber tabs should be located on top of these square sections. It is easy to align, as the rubber tabs follow in line with the wristband, and when you place the back cover on, there are two thin black lines on the outer side of the cover, @1:36 which when aligned at 90 degrees to the wristband, will align perfectly. Basically, as you look at the back of the watch, lay it on a table with the wristband North to South, then the thin little black line on the back cover should be East to West.
yesI noticed that the lines did not align but was too late, i have not had any issues with it so far but thank you for bringing that up and helping others.
This part is important. Great job between both of you. Also in the video, I didn't realize the gasket (thin rubber strip) was sticky on both sides. It's so tiny, I didn't realize I had to pull the white paper off. Thanks for the video and alignment part guys.😊
Thank you for the amazing instructions on how to replace the back. I watched a different video the first time. The video was garbage. I'm so happy that I found your video! You made it so simple to follow and understand. I put the back on myself with no problem at all.
lol....i think i know which video, i saw one too when i needed to fix my watch and it just confused me...Once i figured it out i ended up making the video since i saw that many people were having same issue and nothing out there was helpful. Anyway glad it helped you and thank you for the comment it helps the video
Thank you so much!!! I was worried when the back fell off...I have worn Galaxy watches for years and never had this happen to me! Your video was great and I was able to fix it!! Thank you!!!
1st video that popped up when googing if my watch was broken when I realized the back of my watch was missing. Thanks to you, I got replacement parts from Amazon and was able to fix it! Thank you for this video!
so glad it helped hopefully you hit that thumbsup to allow the video to be seen by others. Glad its saving people money, i was told by samsung they would charge me 50 just to troubleshoot so spent a few hours figuring out what was wrong with it and did myself.....just wanted to show others the same.
Thank you very much for this video. This is exactly what I needed to learn how to do. My watch still works great, but the adhesive on both front and back have become loose.
@@JackofAllCarbinc I finally got the adhesive for the back. Mine came partially unstuck to the clear plastic while trying to get the red backing off and trying to not stretch it was a challenge. It finally came off the way you did yours. (I love to cut vinyl decals with my Cricut, so using the clear transfer tape to line things up was similar to this task. Just on a much smaller scale.) I finally got mine off and was able to line it up on my watch back plate pretty good. I was worried about the stretched part that was in a wavy upwards curl, but it seems to have laid down pretty good when I stuck it to the backing plate. So half of my watch is fixed. Just wanting on the front adhesive to come in so I can fix the rest. It's sad that these adhesive pieces for this watch are only sold and shipped from China (that I've seen so far). Yes this watch is older and not new anymore, but I love mine. Still works great. Again, can't thank you enough for showing us how to do this.
Your so welcomed.... glad it saved you money. We had talked to samsung and they wanted to charge us just to look at it, sad that they know this is a problem with their watches and just charge you to fix their issues of getting low quality pieces to make as much as possible.
Same thing happened to me yesterday 🙃 😪. I have no idea when or how this happened or where it went. Only noticed it as the watch back started irritating my wrist. Thanks for this video.
i am glad it helped, i saw other videos that just dragged on and a bunch of filler and didn't really help so that's why i made this, thank you for watching and hopefully hitting that thumbs up, it really helps my channel, glad it helped.
Thank you so much for this guide! Made the process super easy :) Ps. I hope your wife isn't super OCD because that line on the glass part was placed savagely crooked lol
LOL.... No she is not but i am, I had to buy another cover since i didnt realize the line was off, I was too busy trying to get a decent video that i didnt realize till after the fact what i did. If you look at my chest freezer and shed video you will know what ocd looks like. Anyway glad it helped.
Glad it helped so far mine has not had any issues but just make sure you give it a real good cleaning before adding the new tape so theres no gaps or gunk in between that can cause it to loosen again over time.
I distroyed the first glue gasket when I attempted to remove the "red U" layer as you did, it got all crumpled up. As my kit came with two gaskets, I removed the clear plastic first, and the red U plastic after I had affixed the gasket to the back of the watch, it seemed to work much easier that way. Too bad I damaged the first glue gasket... :(
Im so happy to have my samsung watch but seems back cover its not build properly just fall out i never even notice when i removed now been looking for back for this watch good i saw this video helpful
awesome, glad it helped you and hopefully saved you some money. You would be surprised the cost they wante dto charge to fix that. Hopefully you hit that thumbs up button to help push the video out to others. thank you
What glue did you use because I need something for a retaining ring on my digital camera by the retractable lense. The adhesive sticky stuff lost it's stickiness.
So, to clarify, the white piece on the back of the glue ring stays on or peels off? I have tried this and the back piece I got didn't seem to fit, it scoots around from side to side like it's too large. Also, does your watch charge normally after replacing the back glass?
Hi, Watch works perfectly after doing this with no issues, You have to make sure your buying the correct size for your watch, they have the watch in 2 sizes the 40 and 44 mm which is a small difference but difference thats only thing i can think of also make sure its correct model. Hope that helps.
Thank you for this post! Question... So when the back piece keeps falling off do I need to replace the whole thing? Or can I just use the adhesive from the kit? Nothing is wrong with my actual glass backing.
I would just replace the whole thing in case the old one is bent and not creating a perfect seal....if it has come loose and fallen off it might be dented or scratched up and not allow for a perfect seal.
Hi, you will be fine using old cover, i did and only bought the ahesive tape and was only thing i needed, just give it a good cleaning and save yourself money, unless the cover is dented or damaged in any way that will not allow for a flush seal.
yes if you are talking about the back cover light heat and use a sharp pick to slowly pull off then you can replace......you are basically replacing a piece that was done by samsung so as long as you take great care of making sure the seal area is very clean and properly attach the cover it should be as new from factory i just would not go deep diving since your replacing a part that is known for having defects so im pretty sure alot of people have had water go in their watch due to the back cover starting to loose the seal.
Hi, i want to ask. Is the watch works like new after replacing the glass? I mean, the watch is designed to be water proof. So is the watch still able to used while sweating or in a rain weather? Thanks
hi, as far as runing and sweating it has been used multiple times already without any issues, in the rain i could not answer but it should be as new since the parts are the same used by samsung. the biggest thing is taking the time to properly clean the old glue when removing and taking your time when putting on the coverand making sure not to damage the round adhesive ring after installing the new cover i have had zero issues with it and probably have run way over 200 miles with it. I have not noticed issues with the moniter or any of the functions either. Hope that helps.
Well I wish i would of found your video yesterday.. im now in a bind :(. peel off the center part thinking it was not needed. Do you happen to know where i can buy the back part? Cause this is no longer a good solution for me.. and yes its not charging anymore lol
HI sorry i really dont know what type of glue, If it was up to me i would just pay for the round tape, i believe you can just by the tape portion without the cover. not sure if glue would seal out sweat/water the round circle tape is kinda like a little gasket so again its up to you but i would probably just spend the few dollars to feel a little piece of mind.
Galaxy watches are so bad in build quality. Mine had the same problem too right after the warranty finished. Not sure if I can get this part in my country. So I will have to try double sided tape with the original part instead. My other Samsung watch lost it's bezel. And it is impossible to find any replacement for the little springs and gasket. I bought 5 Samsung smart watches so far but my next watch won't be a Samsung for sure.
the position of the cover does not really matter for charging since th ecover has nothing to do with charging, ....did water or anything else get in there? Might be a bad charger maybe?
Can you still see the same S/n? I sent mine was sent off to be fixed and they replaced the back cover, but it now shows a different serial number. Should I see the original s/n if they replace the back cover?
Hi ...no no issues with sleep monitor. I have my kids watch that just stopped counting steps and its the older active so not sure if there are common issues with these watches.
so you can do a quick search on amazon and you can see that they sell with the cover or just the adhesive stickers its 10 dollars for just the adhesive stickers or 15 with the cover....if you still have the cover you can buy the adhesive stickers only that match the sie of your watch....please remember they make these watches in two sizes so make sure you buy the one that is the sze for your watch. i believe its either 40 or 44

my samsung galaxy tab have this problem too. but the other one problem is it didn't turn on? is this the posibble problem? that thing that my watch didn't turn on? thanks
yes that is what i did as well....just make sure there are no issues with the original one like a dent or anything that will keep it from creating a good seal.
The back cover broke don't know how Need to replace the entire back cover by undoing the screws to my watch 3 😢 Can you help with that also where to source that part
Hi you can just do a quick search on amazon for galaxy watch rear cover.....they make the watch in two sizes so you have to make sure to buy the one that is correct size for your watch...i believe its either the 40 or 44
does it still turn on? the watch still should turn off even without the back cover. if it does not i would say its a loss....you can try putting in rice
@@JackofAllCarbinc no, it is stuck in a reboot loop... I ended up buying a new one. The real bummer is, I couldn't even use it as a trade-in, so now it's just sitting around collecting dust.
the person i bought from no loner has but it was purchased on ebay for 22 dollars. I can see if i can find a supplier and post a better link but you can find on ebay/amazon with lots of sellers selling same piece.
@@JackofAllCarbinc Very helpful video, thank you! Question: Do the black lines on back need to be straight so that the two "contact pins" on the inside of the main watch connect to the metal tabs on the inside of the sensor cover? Edit: mine has "two metal pins" not seen on your model. My model is Active 2 44mm LTE version (Model SM-R25U).
I agree, if you can't see it forget it if it's already done. If you get sick of seeing it all you gotta do is turn it off and pop out the heatgun/hair dryer and replace the position and should be able to reuse the same adhesive if you are careful.
Just curious - how many of us watching this video are regular sunscreen users? I suspect that might be what made the back come off in the first place, and I'm looking for data to back up my theory 😆.

Will this cause the watch to not charge and be stuck in reboot?? Cause I never had any issue with my watch until I just noticed that sensor is gone.
I dont believe so ....i replaced the cover and watch works great without any issues.
my samsung galaxy tab have this problem too. but the other one problem is it didn't turn on? is this the posibble problem? that thing that my watch didn't turn on? thanks
i mean galaxy watch active 2
no i dont believe it would be the issue.
Can I use the original one and just get the tape?
yes that is what i did as well....just make sure there are no issues with the original one like a dent or anything that will keep it from creating a good seal.
I lost my cover and now phone won't charge. Will replacing cover fix the charging issue or is that another issue?
Hi I am sorry but really dont know the answer to this. Maybe someone watching video can help answer this?
Hey I am also facing this issue now with my watch not charging, did you manage to get it to charge after fixing the back plate?
Thank you!
You're welcome!
The back cover broke don't know how
Need to replace the entire back cover by undoing the screws to my watch 3 😢
Can you help with that also where to source that part
sorry not sure where to buy those parts
Plz provide the gum purchase link
Hi you can just do a quick search on amazon for galaxy watch rear cover.....they make the watch in two sizes so you have to make sure to buy the one that is correct size for your watch...i believe its either the 40 or 44
Online where can I buy it
easily found on amazon
Is this okay with the samsung galaxy active 1?
same process but just make sure you get the correct part for it.
Watch 5 rear sensor glass replacement? 44mm
most of these are the same can you find the part with the sticker?
Anyone know if the watch is a total loss if it got wet while the back was off? Before I order the part for nothing 😔
does it still turn on? the watch still should turn off even without the back cover. if it does not i would say its a loss....you can try putting in rice
@@JackofAllCarbinc no, it is stuck in a reboot loop... I ended up buying a new one. The real bummer is, I couldn't even use it as a trade-in, so now it's just sitting around collecting dust.
@@territ4924 sorry to hear that. Wish it would have been an easy fir.
Where can i get part from?
quick search on amazon will find the parts. Just make sure you get the one for your watch.

silly me decided to find a video after ordering a new watch 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️
lol, Well at least you can fix the old one and gift to someone.
Because I need that
will try and post a good link, thanks for watching.
My ocd just screamed so bad putting the back on and not making sure the black lines were straight ugh
lol... yeah once i put it on i looked and the lines were crooked on mine drives me a bit crazy, luckily its facing my wrist so i dont see it.
And you didn't ask me but no they don't need to be straight, just messing with him because I'm a ocd-nazi hahaha
Just curious - how many of us watching this video are regular sunscreen users? I suspect that might be what made the back come off in the first place, and I'm looking for data to back up my theory 😆.
not me, think it was just the sweat.
I just need a glue sticker l have a cover. Can someone link me the glue cover on Amazon please 🙏
you can just check the size and look on amazon with that desciption
Thank you, great explanation.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much!!!!❤❤
