Very nice. I love how I could see your hand thru the bowl. I think this idea of drilling out circles and filling with resin was a great idea. I really liked this.

I have watched this video so many times, I have watched it with my brother, I have watched it with my cat sleeping on my neck, very cosy, brilliant work, incredible.
I just watched the video, then checked out your etsy store. I sure hope that you are just doing this as a hobby, because it seems that you could only be making about $0.15/hr !!! Very nice original works that seem to be awfully low priced. I may have to knock over a liquor store now. Thank you for the great videos.
Thank you Alan, I do not run the Etsy Store, the wife thinks with the defects and all that it only worth that, it's all good and we are not killing anyone trying to sell it . we are still learning this marketing thing as well, if we get what ever she priced it at, we'll be happy with it. the other one sold for probably twice that amount .
I have just recently begun to watch wood turning videos, and yours are my favorite. Not only because you do good work. I also like that you provide commentary during your videos. I also truly appreciate that you point out and address the imperfections in your peices. Wood is an imperfect material and you work it very well. Keep up thre good work!
Hey Doug! Love this idea with the holes all around & as someone mentioned opal?! Ooooh now that would be nice, but VERY hard to do.... but then again just the white pearl's with pinches of orange and green pearl mixed in on a darker wood?!! P.S. What if you prepped the holes with a clear resin like they do on those "River tables"? Then no bleeding into the wood and no air bubbles!
Thank you Val. I've made 4 of these bowls now, all differently done and I end up with the same issue, I am not sure at all what the problem is. clear resin was a thought but then it might pool at the bottom leaving a clear section in the resin, 5 minute epoxy was a thought but I would have to work really really fast, LOL seems I need to figure it out as all 3 bowls sold this weekend, that's including the red and yellow bowl I made before the flaming flower bowl video.
The Pohl Barn Productions if the holes are deep enough it wouldn't matter if there's a small puddle of clear resin at the bottom, because that's in the part you turn out. Were these done before you got your vacuum and pressure set-up?
I am so jealous of how your brain works. I can probably copy what you do as an artist but I never would have imagined, in a million years, that if I drilled holes, all around the outer edge of a piece of wood and filled those holes with 2 colours of epoxy, that my project would turn out that way....................never, ever would that have happened. AMAZING. I am star struck. Simply beautiful.
Thank you Sue... I'll splain it to ya,, I intended to copy someone else's project in a similar fashion, OOOOOOOPSS I drilled the holes to deep, oh well drill em deeper and just go with it, not much thinking at all really. LOL it was a screw up. that turned out Awesome, so as it's said A Happy Little Mistake !
Great video Doug. I am going to attempt that bowl myself. I think I will just put fewer holes in it, less resin I have to use. Thank you for the thumbs up on our pastes!! Keep up the great work on your bowls!!
Thank you Tom, It need to be sealed well, I've made 4 now and all of them had some form of problems in the resin, You Pastes are great and I hope people are going to you from me.The abrasive paste is a bit more aggressive than the YG, I notice it as the paper towel shreds with yours and not the YG, yours is working better to remove marks and defects, I have not problems using your product and promoting it. Thanks again, stickers are on the way if not already there.
I love that you acknowledge, even with the use of tools, it won't be perfect because you're not perfect! That's a message I tell my 8 year old son all the time; "as long as you try your best/hardest, that's what matters. It can't be perfect because no one can ever be perfect!" We don't use the "practice makes perfect" phrase in our house 😃.
Those are both very nice bowls. In 100 years someone will be proud to get them for a keepsake from their great grandmother. Along with a link to the video of you making them.
I have to say both looked very nice, like ocean waters swirling around. Glad to see a fellow Michigander and a very fine craftsman at that!! Greetings from the North East Lower Peninsula:) ☮:)
I just want to say that that is awesome. I want to buy me a Lathe. I have never owned one although I have been a wood worker all my life. I came by it honest, My Daddy was a Commercial Fisherman who built his own boats. I built my first boat when I was in my early teens. I am a disabled Veteran, in a wheelchair and disability don't pay very well so it is going to take a long time to save up for a lathe so I figured I would watch every video I can, by every Turner I can, and hopefully learn a few things by the time I am finally able to buy one, in the year 2525. When my daughter showed me how to find your shop. I all but choked at the price. Dude it's worth so much more but at $ 75. My daughter asked if I wanted the only one left for Christmas and yes yes but you only have one so I'm hoping you bless us with some more of these babies. Number them and I hoping to get one for Christmas. The blue and green is breath taking. I would like one with the holes closer together. But please don't raise the prices till I can get one. I can't do much being so sick but I can see beauty like anyone else.
This is wonderful and it doesn't matter what problems you had. Perfect it and produce MORE since this is extremely sellable. I'm in love with this. At least $300 -$500 minimum. I can't afford it but lots of people can

Thank you Mary, she liked and purchased the second one and that is what I was worried about being a consignment project, it's the only reason I made the second one.

Thank you Nena, I've done it in Red and Yellow, The Flaming Flower bowl, back when I first started my channel, the video is horrible but the bowl is awesome. I redone the video to explain what I was doing in the first one
