    Awesome video man! I wanted to add a couple tips from my experience. Before you do anything prep the holes with PB blaster and use a metal tube brush for all eight holes. After that, run a bolt up through each hole to ensure you can finger start your bolts when mounting. If hitch doesn’t line up perfectly with the holes get a small C clamp from Lowe’s or Home Depot. Put the C clamp on right above the muffler and pull the leg of tow bar to the frame to align holes. Then just concentrate on getting your bolt started with your fingers. If I would’ve known these things prior to starting I would’ve saved myself hours of time. Good Luck!

    Great video, and will help me in the installation I'm doing this coming week. I started cleaning the rusty threads, while waiting for the arrival of the hitch, and now see what those extra nuts you found were for. The two 12mm bolts on the tow hook are ok for use on the left side, but the two 12mm holes on the right was badly rusted, destroying the threads. Not enough good metal to use a tap. I will have to insert the bolts from above, and use the nuts on the bottom of the hitch. I hope, since it's years after your installation, that the company is still including those extra nuts. Luckily, the frame itself is still strong, so no worries about the frame falling apart!

    Thanks for showing me what to do with the electrics. Flipping it around is more convenient than the removal of the bracket as suggested by the factory install. The instructions made no mention of that.

    • @KRTLyfe

      Probably not, our G wagon had a super modified exhaust and on long trips it was very exhausting lol see what I did there, but all jokes aside I doubt we will modify the exhaust on our GX because we use it for road trips and its so nice and relaxing as it is.

    Great vid man, easy/clean. Questions:
    1. I have same year, is GVWR 6500 or 5k?
    2. Debating the curt receiver vs upgraded from factory class III Curt. Tx

    What sizes are the bolts? I can't find that information anywhere! Looks like the stock hook is a M10, but you said you put everything back with a 19MM? Isn't that a M12? Please let me know! I am a long time subscriber, sorry to hear and see all yall went through with your baby.

      M12x1.25, 40mm, and M8x1.25, 35mm. Difficult to do, but it may be a good idea to tap the screw threads in the frame bolts before hand. It took me hours to tap the threads because of the tight fit. Removal of the tie down/tow hook bolts can be difficult to do - be sure to use WD40 or some other rust penetrating liquid a day or two ahead of time. Be prepared with a 17mm short impact 1/2 socket and a 1/2 breaker bar. A 1/2 impact wrench might be useful.

    Did those M8 bolts give you any trouble? I'm trying to install and can't seem to torque them down. Once they get to a certain tightness they just keep spinning. It doesn't look like the holes are damaged, and i bought new bolts but the same thing happens

    • @KRTLyfe
      @KRTLyfe  2 года назад

      No mine didn’t give me any trouble, in fact i did this really quick before we went somewhere. I would double check your bolts or head to Home Depot and find some that do work.

      Yes, I agree. They could have easily accommodated that as well with a few more holes and a couple plates of steel. Three points are always better than two points.

      @@KRTLyfe just ordered mine ! Btw how you like ko2s ? I have some cheap achilles desert hawk ht 120$piece i have to admit these are great tires on roads but not offroad. Soo im thibking on falkens at tires or bf k02 at. Main factor for me is grip in winter ad noise.
      I always was continental guy but for last 2 years i have bf goodrich comp2 sport tires on my acura tl and they were great as bf brand. Now im thinking about something quiet and good in offroad since would be nice to drive to the forest do light overlanding on weekends. Looking for some xompromise between ht and at tire. How you like them ?

    • @KRTLyfe
      @KRTLyfe  4 года назад

      superbohater As I had some Achilles on my old Porsche 996 lol I loved those tires but such a bad brand name. I was always worried they would be a point of failure lol Achilles heel 🤣. Okay so the KO2s obviously I’m not paid to say this but they are awesome! We have done some light off roading with them and I’m sure we can push them harder. They are really good on the road. We have done several road trips on them now and they don’t howl or drone. Earlier this year we had to drive from North Carolina to Atlanta after a winter storm and they were actually decent in the snow. Probably not as good as a true winter tire with spikes but we made it home safely and didn’t feel like we would lose control of the vehicle at any point. We passed more than a few abandoned vehicles on the shoulder. So I would definitely say get the KO2 and it looks nice!

    There is a easier option, the car comes with support of the curt 13043 hitch which screws right in front of the spare tire in the four factory screw holes. Install takes less than 5 minutes

      I believe that Curt 13043 is for only Lexus GX460 model, not for GX470. The GX470 model has its bolt holes are the perpendicular each other. I found one (curt 13133) but I doubt about this product. Is anybody who installed this product on GX470 please let me know.

      That is a non-distributed receiver and seems only good for bike racks. With that said, the factory receiver ties into the bumper frame brace as well as the two sides shown in this video. This model of curt does not tie to the bumper frame brace.
