I really love your design. Althought i have a really hard time following what you are doing, and the written text doesnt help. A written step by step guide would be more helpfull.
I have used almost 170 meters, no more than 200 meters in total. Almost 50 meters in the head part. Would suggest the Star part to start with the 5 meter long cords.Hope that helps.
Hi there, would suggest you to use 1 meter cords for head (filler cords)part to start and 7_8 meter cord to tie knot (working cord). And use the 6 meter cords for the legs.

Looks great! Did you add some ‘eyebrows’ to the octopus? Or did I miss that part in the tutorial?
I may have not: you can simply create any braid and glue it around the eyes!!
