Great shots, a bit reminiscent of Hanover to be honest. All the efforts are excellent but it is true that Aegean stands out both in terms of accuracy and smoothness. Especially the Aegean coming in from Rome, the guy went straight to the center despite having to approach with a full opposite lock. The same goes for his colleagues arriving from Belgrade and Istanbul. These guys really give a lesson, probably because they play on "home ground". Lufthansen is also excellent, but he classically dropped it, as if it is somehow in their protocol to touch down in a kind of abrupt way, although straight. In any case, we thank all the operators and crews plus the creator of this footage.
Well commented, same thoughts here. And yes, "betont aufsetzen" (means " performing an accentuated touchdown") in gusty conditions, especially on wet or contaminated runways, is a thing here... But not just LH uses that procedure.
Just adding a quick explanation if I may: The main reason for "not greasing it" when windgusts are prevailing (especially when the runway is contaminated with slush or standing water, as mentioned before) is the accelerated (ideally immediate) response of the air/ground sensors (the so-called "weight on wheels sensor", mostly combined with a predetermined sensed speed of wheelspin - depending on A/C type) which allows for the groundspoilers to deploy and thus lets most of the A/C's weight settle on the main gear within seconds, making the wheelbrakes most effective and providing for both increased lateral control and braking performance. Additionally, it minimizes the risk of hydroplaning and/or skidding laterally on a slippery runway in crosswind conditions since firm contact with the actual runway surface by "cutting through" the layer of whatever contamination right away is key. Passengers may not always appreciate the accentuated touchdown, but if they knew, they would most likely appreciate the increased safety margin resulting from it 🙂 EDIT: typo

Those highly skilled pilots make it look like they do it every day…oh, wait they do! Actually, my friend’s dad was an American AL’s Captain who had a very highly sought after route, only the most senior pilots get…ORD to LAX to OGG and back. He retired around 1988 after finding himself a “dishy stew” and made my broheim Paul. In the 70s, 80s he was making huge money; $275K plus! Inflation may make that seem not so large but back then a loaded Cadillac was like $8K (maybe $20K in ‘88.) However, he had to (FAA mandate) only go to “work” 19 days/month! So he only worked 2/3rds of what any normal person does and considering that he loved what he was doing…he didn’t work a day in his career! No souls lost and no aircraft damaged!
