Five years ago, I tried a grape diet and for 7 days, I ate nothing but grapes. It was so boring, so just to make it more bearable, I bought three different types of grapes. So I had a different colour of grape for each of my three meals per day.
After 7 days, I gained two pounds of body weight.
Fast forward to 2020 and keto + 19:5 intermittent fasting got me 103 pounds of weight loss.
    End of story.

@@Behen786 because 5 years ago, I didn't know about the sugar poison and the effects on insulin. So as much as there may or may not be an official grape diet per say, it was my attempt at a detoxification process, in the hope of losing a bit of weight at the same time.
Why did I do it? I knew no better.

"Body weight" could be anything. Were you also strength training? Was it increased water weight? Was your colon backed up? It might have had nothing to do with the grapes at all

    • @RobCLynch
      @RobCLynch 2 года назад +15

@@RobertWadlow292 No doubt I did dump a ton of water once I was deep into keto. What I do know is that for 30 years, I struggled with weight loss. But keto plus fasting was my solution and the weight loss occurred in less than ten months.
I did no training nor exercise during my keto journey, but now, I am pushing weights at the gym and walking most mornings.

How can we support people's rights to make a living wage and the need to not be engaged with the corporate greed? Ah so, if I don't rush out to buy things then I don't need to make as much money. If I eat a PHD, then I don't need to spend money on crap. What did people do before there were these giant corporations? Ah, they cooperated with their neighbors by sharing what they made, grew and helping each other. We worked together. I get that this is not something I can fix out there. I need to make compassionate and wise choices each day in how I consume. I eat meat that is grow sustainably, I fast and I just love that all you folks are making these choices too. 😍😍😍😍

I view table grapes as an occasional desert. They are so sugary!
I also have a grapevine in my yard. It grows small dark grapes with thick skins and big seeds and they’re kind of tart. I think they are probably closer to what grapes were originally. They aren’t the best for fresh eating so most people around here make them into wine. I don’t drink alcohol, so I tried making jam once. Too much sugar needed in the regular jams and the keto jams felt like they won’t keep, and didn’t taste that good. So most of my grapes go to the wildlife and we eat only a few of them.

About 15 years ago a colleague at work who sat in the workstation next to me was always complaining about her struggles with diabetes. I knew nothing about diabetes back then. One day she announced in surprise that her doctor had warned her against eating too large portion of grapes because the high sugar content can spike her blood glucose. I replied in puzzlement, “Oh really? I thought fruits were good for you.” Well, she had thought so too. Thinking back, I believe her doctor was rather perceptive for the time. However, there are doctors who still think that bananas are good for everyone. My low carb nutritionist told a story about how she accompanied her mother to a doctors visit. Wow, the doctor commented, her blood sugar is quite high. Well, what did you expect my nutritionist responded, you told her to eat a banana every day.

Back in the eighties, as a criminal investigator, I investigated some researchers at state university for fraud, because we got allegations they were using (and paying government money) for false data (basically, they had students doing the research, and paying them to do it, and then they found out the students had falsified the research data, and they used it anyway). I was shocked at the lack of cooperation we got from everyone at the university. I thought they would want this kind of thing rooted out, too. Finally, one researcher explained it to me, "You're exposing the dirty little secret about most research. Falsified data. And, the reason no one is cooperating is that they are doing it, too." And, then it got worse. I was called off the investigation by my boss, who had been called by the governor, who had been called by the university president. The reason: if we continued on our case, the university would have been forced to pay back to the federal government, the 1.5 million they had received to do this research, and the university didn't have the money to pay it back. I've never looked at research and studies the same way since.

A lovely area in Northern California used to be called the Redwood Empire and considering the vast number of Redwood that still grow there is an apt name. That is until the WINE growers took over the family farms and ranches, pumped the water table dry and renamed it, with heavy advertising, Wine Country. The table grape growing quantity is nothing compared to the wine grape industry.

    So the Drudge article states:
"Researchers posit that eating grapes regularly could combat the effects of a junk food diet. The juicy “superfood” flushes out refined fats and sugars in processed foods, scientists say."
A quick google of the definition of refined fats:
"Following is a list of some commonly used refined oils.
Cottonseed Oil. Palm Oil. Coconut Oil. Safflower Oil. Sunflower Oil. Corn/Soybean Oil. Olive Oil. Canola Oil."
Here's an idea. Just don't eat that cr@p to start with... You'll get back that 5+ yrs of life that the refined food TAKES OFF..
