Ventrac-How to Remove the Dual Wheels. It's easy

  • The dual wheel kit is an invaluable addition to any Ventrac. I rarely take the dual wheels off and only do it when I need to fit into tighter spaces. The Ventrac has a 72" (6 foot) width with the dual wheels. Once removed the width is reduced to 48", or 4 feet. I needed to squeeze between walkway lights spaced 6 feet apart. After the dual wheels were removed I had plenty of room

It takes way to long to power wash between the tires. Looks like I should just remove them to clean.

Good Morning - I get a lot out of your videos and I appreciate your candor. I’ve ordered a Ventrac 4500Y and am anxiously awaiting the delivery (about 4 weeks out at this point). I have a couple of questions for you.
    1) As I’m getting the double wheel kit as well, I’d like to get the PVC caps to have on hand . They appear to be about 2”, but it would be great to know for certain.
    2) I see you carry a sidearm. I assume it’s for snakes as your area of the country has an abundance of copperheads and rattle snakes.
    3) Having only learned of the VenTrac less than a month ago, I’m still in learning mode. I’ve ordered the bucket with grapple, power rake, terra rake, 6’ plow, canopy, rear hitch / hydraulics and some other stuff. I’m not in business, but am retired and doing my best to maintain 5 very sloped acres safely. Looking forward, is there anything that pops out as being missing from my inventory?
Again, you’re appreciated and thank you for your service!
    John T

Hi, John. Have you had a chance to demo a Ventrac first? Even if you have, you're going to love it more than you realize!
      1. The caps come with the dual wheel kit so there's no need to buy them separately.
      2. As far as my sidearm, I carry it for a number of reasons. For every aspect of my life I'm prepared for as much as I can be.
      3. The Power Rake can do what the Terra Rake does and a whole lot more so I never saw the need to buy a Terra Rake but that's my preference.
As far as anything being "missing" from your inventory is dictated by what you're planning to do. I see you didn't list a mower of any kind. I have a 72" Finish Cut and Tough Cut.
I hope that I answered your questions. Please feel free to reach out whenever you like. -Bradley

Thank you for the information! Yes, I had a demo, but I knew before that happened that we were going to get one. I’ve spent the last ten years working our property and transformed it significantly, but I’ve taken it as far as I can both physically and mechanically - everything that’s left requires more oomph than I’ve had. REALLY looking forward to getting it! I forgot the tough cut - that’s what I’ll be mowing with until more areas are “lawn worthy” - I have a zero-turn, but because of the slopes I’m restricted by the “pucker factor” element. Our soil structure is very rocky and soil needs to be amended to provide a good base for a lawn. Amen to being prepared! It’s one of many reasons why we’re in Idaho. We’d appreciate any advice you might want to throw our way. Again, a hearty thank you!

I just ordered mine, went with the 4520Z, diesel “Y” is hard to get right now. Got dual wheel kit, a Power Bucket/Grapple, Tough Cut, 72” Flail and Power Rake. I’m in New Hampshire, so hills and rocks everywhere but when I demoed last fall the thing was amazing. I used the tough cut and the flail mower. So impressive. Would love to hear how your year went with it.

Once again, a good job explaining how to properly care for and use a Ventrac feature. After seeing the dry mud fall out, it looks like it would be a good idea for maintenance purposes for users to periodically remove the outer wheels and clean out all debris that may have collected between them and the inner wheels rather than never remove the outer wheels even if there otherwise is no reason to take them off.

    • @bluecordprecisiongrading2504
      @bluecordprecisiongrading2504  4 года назад +1

I do take them off when mud or vines get caught in there as the valve stem can get damaged if you don't

Very good advice. I hadn't thought of vines getting intertwined between the wheels. Thanks for the tip. Is there any particular torque wrench you recommend?

  • @randallray9324

Noted but for the wheels that will not spin off ccw, I had to install my Versa loader, attach a strap around the outer tire wheel assembly and set strap to when you push bucket forward it grabs tire in a ccw rotation.

Shorter on sidewalks when plowing. The outer wheels will hang off the curb.
